Go to Gulf Shores, especially around Mardi Gras. We spent the same amount for a low-class hotel in Mobile as we would have paid for a hotel or condo at Gulf Shores - in the winter. Gulf Shores has a Mardi Gras parade too. We were injured when entire boxes were tossed into the crowds from the floats in Mobile. In Mobile, prepare to pay $25 for parking during this festive time. Forget Dauphine Island, it's a dump. Gulf Shores has easier parking. I did feel comfortable with the people in Mobile and I did enjoy the historic district. Everything closes up during Mard Gars including the Carnival Museum, which has unusual hours anyway. Even the kids are out of school during this time.

Mobile is a great city, full of historical facts and of course the birth place of Mardi gras! However in town suites was disgusting, roaches crawling on walls, ceilings, ac unit , tub, & sinks. Carpet filthy, power outlets hanging by wires, stovetop filthy, doors were black even though suppose to be white. Staff very rude. BOOKING. COM DOES NOT NEED TO PROMOTE THIS BUSINESS. I HAVE REPORTED IT TO THE HEALTH DEPARTMENT.

Mobile has a very historic charm that—though I haven’t been there yet—seems to have many parallels to New Orleans! I love the “live oaks” and Magnolia trees that canopy the many old beautiful pieces of architecture here!
We did the tour of the USS Alabama—The Carnival/Mardi Gras Museum—walked Dauphine Street with a stop at George’s Candy, the Cathedral, and the park’s downtown—ate excellent Soul food at Judy’s Place—and did the Bay City Ghost Tour.
We will do an airboat tour on our last day before we have to go home, but I would love to have also seen the history museum, the fort near downtown, and the art museum.
You need atleast 3 full days to get a good taste of the area.
Parking is plentiful in most spots, but you probably want a vehicle to get around. I have lived in large cities before and felt comfortable enough here, but like many large cities, after dark there are some sketchy spots here or there, just don’t act a fool and you’ll be fine.

Me and My family really enjoyed staying at the hotel.
Me and My family really enjoyed staying at the hotel. Both nights footsteps were heard early morning outside our door, checked nobody there also second night somebody was running up and down stairway near our door, checked, nobody there. We had left to go to dinner on the first night there and when we left our ceiling fan was running, when we returned it was off. Asked Front Desk if by chance they would have turned it off, said they don't go into rooms after guests have checked in. To turn it back on had to get on bed to reach the short chain.
Never actually seen anybody or thing but it's obviously haunted.
Historic old hotel is beautiful and in a breathtaking location lined with old oak trees. It is walking distance to all the night life on dauphin street but still quiet. The court yard was a gorgeous spot to sit and get some morning computer work done. The staff was top notch, incredibly friendly and helpful. I felt like part of the family. Once the hotel is polished I'd love to stay again my next trip to mobile. Again, I can not overstate how amazing every part of the staff is. they take southern hospitality to another level.
Terrible quality for price. Never been so disappointed in my life with a hotel stay. Never again; almost ruined our 17th year anniversary celebrations. Bed was terrible, bathroom really small and only gave us two dry off towels and 2 hand towels. I stayed two nights later at windgate by windham, almost same size room except WBW services were MUCH better, quality MUCH better and cost was only $85. Never again Marriott!
This inn is a collection of old beautifully restored buildings in a small pocket near the edge of downtown Mobile. We stayed in room 8 and it was lovely. You enter the room from a pretty courtyard. The room was comfortable, clean and charming. The bathroom had nice amenities and luxurious towels. Breakfast was served in a small bistro across the street. We ordered from a nice menu and the food was delicious.
I loved the location, and the walkability to Downtown Mobile so much that I ended up staying a second night just so that I could explore more of the Downtown area. The hotel is pretty cute, with large rooms, dated but functional furniture, and nice windows that look out over the pool. Cast Iron railings along the balconies to get into the rooms kinda made it for me.
The hotel was OK. The beds were very comfortable. The greeting and assistance we got from the staff member, Shea, was outstanding. She knew everything about the property and the surrounding area. Her recommendations were spot on, and her friendly, outgoing personality made the hotel feel just like home. Her presence upgraded the hotel for us.
Angela was amazing at check-in and very helpful throughout our stay. The room was cleaned by Donna and she did an amazing job. The room itself was spacious and just perfect in every way. I will definitely stay here again. This is the third hotel that I have stayed while visiting Mobile for ASMS, and it is the absolute best one!
I was very pleased with the overall service. In fact it truly exceeded my expectation. The staff was wonderful and the breakfast was delicious. I slept like a baby in that hotel and will definitely be back whenever passing through Mobile.
A great hotel to stay at for events at the Mobile Civic Center [0.2 mile] & strolling Dauphin Street [0.2 mile]!
The hotel was open, clean, & the staff were kind!
We especially enjoyed having a restaurant & lounge within the hotel!
We were tired from Travel and got to the hotel just in time for happy hour and snacks. The snacks were so substantial we didn't need dinner. It was fantastic. We were so thankful we could just then go to bed and get some sleep.
There was no breakfast. The whole point of choosing this hotel was for cost and breakfast. This was the first time I ever visited Alabama and it was very stressful. The entire hotel was bland. No decorations, nothing lively.
I couldn't stay at your hotel because it was filthy, as soon as you entered there's a chair with all kinds of dirty stuff, the commode had not been cleaned, it was stained from a bowel movement.
very nice property in the heart of downtown mobile . I loved the hotel it was very clean the staff was friendly and easy to speak with regarding and questions .
