The town is dominated by the stunning Byzantine tower; the rest of the town is buzzing with places to eat traditional food. The town itself is not particularly picturesque, but the surrounding beaches, scenery and landscape are majestic. It's good base for exploring the area and for getting boats to other areas as well as Mount Athos.

Great town for food and multicultural experiences.
Great town for food and multicultural experiences. Bad town to be in if it's raining as the power grid immediately fails and there are only a few places that have their own generators. The beach is ok but not that great - as in there are many other better beaches within one hour drive from the town.

If you decide to go to Ouranoupoli is a must to rent a boat. The cost is 70 eur/day (without permit) and you can go to Ammouliani and Drenia Islans by your self.
There you can find restaurants with excellent food.
You can stop in any area you want where you can spend some quality time.
I recommend the local pies with vanilla / apples / cheese / spinach...

An excellent starting place to visit Atos Monasteries by males while you (females) swim or sunbathe or drink on the beach :) You can enjoy delicious food or good house wine in various small restaurants along the shore. Advisable to buy olive oil or olives from small local producers on a very good price. Don't miss the wine too.

There are some prejudices about this city.
There are some prejudices about this city. Although I visited this city many times with my wife, we did not encounter anything that would disturb us. It is a very calm and peaceful city and its people are also very kind. Also, the food in the restaurants is very tasty, the prices are reasonable.
The location of the hotel is exceptional and it is only a short walk away from the town. The staff were warm and welcoming and they recommended the best beaches and taverns for us to visit. The rooms were extremely clean and the breakfast was fresh and delicious, The hotel has the best terrace for breakfast with a breathtaking view. We had an amazing stay and I would definitely recommend this to anyone coming to Ouranoupoli.
Host were very nice and friendly. Always on your service. Cleanliness was exceptional. Daily housekeeping and new towels every day. Nice balcony. Kitchen was good equipped with everything you might need. Bed was very comfortable. Parking place always available. Wi fi was very good all the time during our stay. If we ever come again for a holiday in Ouranoupoli, we will be your guest. Best regards to Maria and Stelios.
Hospitality.
Very clean room.
Even if you do not have parking in front of the hotel you will very quickly find a street next to,no more than 5 minutes walk.
Lady on desk is local. She knows everything about everything in that area. She deserves all the praise from us. We stayed for two weeks and had no negative experiences. A big hug and thank you Konaki from my little son and us.
The location of the hotel is great - it is surounded by mountaints and trees and looking at the sea. The whole peninsula is peaceful and just what we needed to relax.
The hotel is well located - Ouranopolis is a couple of minutes away (by car).
The staff at the hotel is friendly and helpful, they made our stay even more pleasant.
The food is excellent :) especially dinner.
The location is nice, the place is quiet and peaceful. Our rooms were with nice sea views and they were very clean. The beach side is perfect, 3 minutes of walking by the hotel. There is fully renovated beach bar including food and beverage.
There are enough sunbeds and umbrellas on the beach side and around the pool. The hotel is perfect for family vacation.
The owner Ana is very kind. Takes care of guests. The position of the hotel is excellent for someone who came to rest away from the noise of the city. The hotel has its own private beach with an excellent bar, where you can have breakfast and lunch. The Internet is not great, as it is nowhere in Greece, but Ana is trying to solve that problem as well.
The services (cleaning, wifi) are very good: the appartment was clean everyday and the towels were changed everyday, also.
VBA is located nearby a beach and by car it can be visited all nice beaches nearby Ouranoupoli.
Ee stayed there for the second time in 3 years and everything was the same as last time: very good services at a good price.
Absolutely, we had a wonderful time at one of the city's oldest hotels. It's got that genuine, authentic charm that's hard to come by.
Cleanliness was spot on, and the location? Just perfect! We didn't have to go far to find great places to eat and shop.
The hosts were super friendly and always ready to help. We'd definitely come back!
Nice and clean hotel. We had a sea view room with a very sunny balcony. Few parking spaces for the hotel size. Nice and tasty breakfast but we stayed 2 nights only so not sure if it has a big food diversity.
Nice and clean beach, really close and you can go through a tunnel from the hotel directly to the beach, avoiding crossing the road .
We stayed in a brand-new, recently fully renovated, part of the hotel; everything was in great shape and we particularly enjoyed the spectacular sea view from our balcony; our hosts who were very welcoming and offered suggestions for local places to see
This was our third time staying in Hotel Avra.
It has an amazing sea view, quiet in the evenings, very nice terrace for coffee and breakfast, super clean and very nice staff.
The people that work in the hotel are extraordinary! They were so polite and helpful. The hotel is very clean and the food is tasty and well prepared. I had a great vacation.
Very nice room and clean hotel, very near to the center of Ouranoupolis. Very friendly employees, thanks to you all.
Special thanks to Nikos from the pool bar... ;)
The room was spacious, very clean and was cleaned every day. The stuff was welcoming. The view from the room was nice. Overall it was a good stay in Ouranoupolis.
