The bullet train ride from Tokyo to Niigata had lots of beautiful scenery along the way. So glad we decided to visit here on our third trip to Japan. I spent 2 nights in Niigata because the hotel I wanted was booked out. I recommend spending there at least three nights. I visited Yahiko, a city nearby, which has a gorgeous park with Momiji trees, it was beautiful at the end of October. However, I had only a small amount of time for Niigata itself.

I stay at downtown, near the train station. So it is pretty much a lot of things to do. Excellent restaurants all around the area. The facilities provided by the hotel were good and convenience. The inhouse convenience store was a big plus - convenience to buy any necessaries without going out from the hotel. The location is good too, close to train station as well as bus stops. Nearby restaurants and izakaya were a lot as well.
