Nigatta was a much slower pace. Feels like Sunday everyday. Chilled. It has fabulous restaurants and little local bars, great scenery. Definitely worth a visit for a few days. The bullet train ride from Tokyo to Niigata had lots of beautiful scenery along the way. So glad we decided to visit here on our third trip to Japan. Incredibly easy to get around with such an efficient bus service.

I spent 2 nights in Niigata because the hotel I wanted was booked out. I recommend spending there at least three nights. I visited Yahiko, a city nearby, which has a gorgeous park with Momiji trees, it was beautiful at the end of October. However, I had only a small amount of time for Niigata itself.

The only thing going for Niigata is the Alchemist Bar & Dining restaurant (Australian chef/owner). We were really disappointed and had been to 5 other cities in Japan which were fantastic. We would not visit Niigata again. A lot of litter and surprisingly, graffiti which is rare for Japan.

Days before checking in at Country Hotel Niigata, I was in Tokyo and Nagano and my schedule was crazy, I hardly got quality sleep. But when I was in that hotel, I got all the sleep I needed because it was so quiet, the room facilities were just right, and the hotel staff were nice and friendly.

I stay at downtown, near the train station. So it is pretty much a lot of things to do. Excellent restaurants all around the area.
The rest of the trip was taking trains to see different districts of Niigata. Lots of them has country side feels but it was good. Cute, well managed cities.

Niigata city itself is a little lackluster; there’s some interesting things to do (Pier Bandai and the nearby Toki Messe observation deck, the ponshukan at the station), though the real gems lay outside the city like Yahiko mountain and shrine
This was our 3rd time staying in the Hotel's twin room. It was glad that they fulfil our request for higher room with view due to I have light claustrophobia. The room was comfortable and enough space for 2 person for 7 nights stay.
The facilities provided by the hotel were good and convenience. The inhouse convenience store was a big plus - convenience to buy any necessaries without going out from the hotel.
The location is good too, close to train station as well as bus stops. Nearby restaurants and izakaya were a lot as well.
Comfy bed, spacious room, good breakfast and the location. Hotel lobby connects directly with the famous Ponshukan, it’s integrated into the CoCo Lo complex meaning that you are in short walking distance to restaurants, high end local gift shops, convenient stores, pharmacy, bakeries, Starbucks, JR East ticket office, Niigata train station. Outside the CoCo Lo complex ( grand opening in 2024), 15 minutes walk to the Bandai bridge and countless eateries nearby.
The staff were so lovely and helpful. We arrived on motorbikes and everyone was trying to assist with luggage, and then after check in with parking. We booked this hotel for the view from the room and also for the fact we could walk to local restaurants. It is a business hotel but was a lovely walk along the river, and the room view really was fabulous.
The room was clean and comfortable, although small, and the breakfast was good.
The breakfast buffet was good with both Japanese and Western options. It was conveniently located close enough to Niigata station that we could walk there. It's also super close to several main restaurant and bar streets, so we were able to enjoy some fun nightlife too. We ended up renting a car to get to more remote locations around Niigata and the staff helped us pay for parking, and find parking when their lot was full for the night.
Basic but very clean and convenient business hotel, typical of business hotel chains in Japan. Very good value for the money, conveniently located to hospitals, shopping, and some restaurants, convenient for travelers with cars/motorcycles, and convenient bus connections to Niigata station.
The hotel was right across the street from the Niigata Train Station. It was convenient to catch the train to get around. The hotel room was clean and the staff was friendly. The Western/Japanese buffet breakfast had a variety of foods to choose from.
Staffs were friendly and helpful. Room is spacious and well equipped. Location is good, in between Niigata station and Furumachi, both within walking area. The hotel is not located at the main roads, thus the surrounding was clam and quite.
The location was good, less than 5 minutes walk from JR Niigata station and the bus station. the staff were friendly, the breakfast was very nice for a buffet, including a lot of locally produced food. Also checkout time of 11.00 was lovely!
fast internet for Japan hotels, more than 50mbps down and 20mbps up so I could participate in critical business zoom meetings. Van San, one of the two on property restaurants, was very nice. the hotel onsen (public bath) was very nice.
The staff at this hotel have been in the best in Japan. So friendly and welcoming. The hotel had an old world charm and was clean, quiet and comfortable. The included breakfast option was excellent. Great sushi restaurant as well.
The manager let me stay in a suite room without any extra fee, after complaining the bed stain on our first room. The hotel is next to the train station. Easy access to all.
The location is excellent. Around 3-5 mins from Niigata JR station. The hotel is nicely decorated, which is unexpected from a 3-star hotel. Beds are comfy.
