You get what you pay for. Definitely the place we will stay each time we pass through, it’s not perfect but it’s better than other places. Nice staff. Nice room, I wish the cleanliness was a little better but aside from that a convenient place to stay.

I liked the fact that everything I needed was on either of the main streets (both the shops street and the by-pass road). People are pleasant and helpful, and Ashburton doesn't feel too big or touristy. A great place to stay if you want to use as a base to explore other activities in the area.

We stopped here to see the Aviation Heritage Museum. It was a great place to stop and rest prior to travelling into Christchurch. We found it a very friendly, slower paced area that allowed us to rest before the city exposure.

The ability to use a service road to get around the city centre - didn't have to use the busy State Highway 1.
A lot of places were shut for New Years but we found a decent Indian restaurant and really enjoyed that .
Great weather .
Downside was the attitude and behaviour of the staff at the motel . Left a negative on the trip .

Our experience was actually terrible in ashburton.
Our experience was actually terrible in ashburton.
Everything was closed by 2pm only like 2 or 3 cafes open. So we literally had nothing to do for the afternoon except for a bush walk. This was so disappointing for a Saturday.
The Suites Ashburton was a last minute find and proved to be perfect for our stay. Its right opposite the A&P show grounds which is where our son was playing rugby. The staff were lovely and accommodating. They even allowed the guests to use the conference room to watch the All Blacks play Italy at the RWC 2023!
The rooms seem recently remodeled- everything fresh, pretty bed linens and pillows, spotlessly clean. Location was great for travelers- we were just passing through as we headed south. Accommodations were made for our late arrival, milk in the fridge for our coffee and tea- so thoughtful.
The room had everything we needed, the bed was comfy, kitchenette was super handy and a good shower. Kay was absolutely amazing! We were in Ashburton for a family emergency and Kay accommodated us in ever way she could, we appreciate your kindness during an upsetting time, thank you.
For the price, we didn't have high expectations for our one night stopover, so were pleasantly surprised by the quality of the accommodation: a spotlessly clean, quiet, spacious, modern unit with a good-sized separate bedroom and a proper kitchen. Ideal for a family of four.
Thistle cottage was an excellent choice for a quiet stay in the country. The furnishings were beautiful and the outside areas were private and peaceful with grazing sheep.
Close to Ashburton but far enough off highway 1 as to be out in the country.
Room was clean well appointed with an amazing shower. The TV was large and modern and easy to use. The milk in recycled glass bottles was a nice touch. The bed was comfortable enough but pretty stock standard for hotel/motel accommodation.
Amazing accommodation. Everything was of the highest quality and it was so well appointed. I would highly recommend to anyone who enjoys a premium experience. Lovely quiet location, beautiful view of snowcapped mountains. Just stunning!
The room was quiet and suitable for rest with large twin beds. There was plenty space for luggage. The hotel's location was near the main road and easy to find. The receptionist was nice and helpful.
Friendly and welcoming owners. Warm and comfortable unit and very clean and tidy. Very quite. Will definitely stay again when next have to go to Ashburton. Thank you to the owners😀
