Everyone working was so nice and helpful! I thought I lost a book in my room, and they went out of their was to make sure it wasn’t there- even though the room had already been cleaned. Turns out I left it somewhere else, so I really appreciate all their help!
Also was great because I left my car and walked around down town on foot. Didn’t have to worry about parking!

The parking lot was dark with only three other cars in the lot when we arrived. I wasn’t certain if they were open for business until I found the front door unlocked. The clerk greeted me and reassigned our room at my request. They had NOT received my e-mail, through Booking, to change our room from handicap to a King room. I had booked the wrong room by mistake. Although we found the room clean and in order, there was a “spooky” feel to the mostly empty building. We didn’t see or hear anyone else that evening or in the morning at breakfast, check-out. The staff was helpful and friendly. Breakfast was 6:30-8:30!

Great city to explore the Land of Lincoln along historic Route 66.
Grab a map and explore what led Abraham Lincoln to the presidency during a time of unrest that led to the Civil War and ultimately his untimely death due to assignation.
Recommended places to visit include the Abraham Lincoln Presidential Library and Museum, the Lincoln Home National Historic Site, the Old State Capital and the Lincoln Tomb. There are so many monuments and landmarks, including his law office, to explore in historic downtown Springfield.
Visit the Illinois State Capitol. Tours are free. Make a reservation to the Dana-Thomas House. It contains the largest collection of Frank Lloyd Wright glass and furniture in one of his designs. It was his first blank check commission.
Pay your last respect to Lincoln as well as those who served in the military at the Oak Ridge Cemetery. The Lincoln Family tomb is a stunning tribute. The Illinois War Memorials honor those who served and lost their lives in WWI, WWII, Korea and Vietnam.

HUGE BATHROOM!~
VERY Clean and super awesome that they have a room available an hour before I was driving into town! Breakfast was pretty nice! Loved the bathroom so much that i took a night time and a morning time shower! It was really nice to be able to walk right over to a couple places to eat and walk to Walmart. If you are worried about security, they have plenty of it! I would stay here in a hot minute again!

We love history and the Lincoln attractions were on my bucket list. Also plan on doing Route 66 vaca someday, so we did some Route 66 stuff too.
Impressed with the city and people on the streets are quick to say hello.
Check ahead...some sites were closed :(
I did like the gentleman who attempted to remedy all of our breakfast problems. He would disappear and come back with some fixes to the issues we point out in the text below. I did like the location (walking distance to downtown). Our room was a good room. With exception of a broken mattress, the room was comfortable and clean. The shower and bathroom were excellent! All in all, the staff were very pleasant and accommodating.
Other than the presence of smokers (the smell especially) Carpenter Street Hotel accomplished all I expected to find, a quiet place with pleasant, knowledgeable staff in a location well suited for my destination in Springfield. I had planned to stay there again on my way back to Chicago but had to cancel my plans. But I will definitely put this hotel at the top of my list whenever I am in Springfield again!
Very bright and airy lobby. Great staff at check- in and otherwise. I had room 216 which was a suite and was very good. They were just starting a complimentary Happy Hour when we started (free nibbles etc) but we didn’t partake though it was tempting. Easy to find location, with plenty of free parking, good nearby Walmart and handy for downtown Springfield (about 10-25 minutes).
The "room" was filled with roches, the "room" had a door that barely shut. The "location" of the room was next to where a bum slept on a towel and drank vodka. "Breakfast" is a meal eaten in the morning to "break" the "fast" you take while sleeping. I don't see what that has to do with anything. The hotel doesn't . . . like . . . offer it or anything.
Very comfortable room and bed. Great soft pillows. Loved the veranda. Still cold weather but nice to sit out in sun. Great coffee maker in room. Very good amenities. Very atmospheric as kept original furniture and fittings. Beautiful staircase. Breakfast was lovely and varied. Easy walk into Springfield. Very nice city.
The hotel seems to be new and is quite clean. The bathroom had the highest ceiling I have ever seen in a hotel. It was a 10 foot ceiling. The breakfast was ok, Cereal/oatmeal, biscuits and gravy, sausage links, waffles, boiled eggs, yogurt, juices, and coffee.
The hotel was clean and the staff very nice. It was located right near the uis university which is what we needed for to visit our son who is attending uni there so wasn’t sure how it would be would definitely book again it suited all our needs.
Never stayed there, arrived on 8th of June 22 and Hotel was shut down about 10 years ago, Windows boarded up and weeds 3 feet high in parking lot, building has been condemned, somebody is operating a scam, stayed somewhere else. DO Not BOOK.
The staff at this hotel were very friendly. The hotel was centrally located and very close to many popular Springfield attractions. The beds and pillows were comfortable and clean. There was a nice sized mini refrigerator.
First day was fantastic. We had a sweet so the room price was accurate we did not pay any extra fees for anything, the staff was great I will definitely be coming back here when I travel to springfield.
Staff alone was wonderful needed anything they were there great ppll with great attitudes I will book my stay with Quality everything I visit Springfield
