The 2nd largest Czech city, Brno is a centre of Moravian culture, surrounded by lush countryside. The twin spires of the hilltop Cathedral of Saints Peter and Paul dominate the neighbouring Bishops Palace, while the nearby square houses the Moravia Museum and Reduta Theatre, both the oldest in the country.
Beneath the square is Brno Underground, a maze of medieval tunnels and cellars that once housed wine produced in the surrounding region. There is an annual wine festival here, but the largest event is the Ignis Brunensis fireworks competition by Brno Lake to the north-west, lined by trees that hide Veveří Castle.
A less grand castle - Špilberk - sits on a hill in the city centre. At its feet is Masaryk University, the 2nd largest in the Czech Republic. The city’s Mendel University is named after the genetics founder who was abbot of St Thomas’ Abbey, where a museum commemorates his work.
The nearby Brno Exhibition Centre is of functionalist design, but the most important example of this architectural style is UNESCO World Heritage-listed Villa Tugendhat. On the opposite side of the city is Masaryk Circuit, home of the Czech MotoGP.
The Brno accommodation on Booking.com includes cheap hostels near the train station, guest houses near Freedom Square and hotels by Brno-Tuřany Airport.

Brno is a city you can enjoy without a hurry even if you are there just for the weekend, the city has beautiful historic buildings, excellent museums(with good and free WCs), many theaters, the attractions can be reached on foot if you stay in the center. There are many cafes and many lavander products (even food).

The more you visit Brno, the better it gets.
The more you visit Brno, the better it gets. Compared to Prague, there could be no more distant twins - same state, same geographical topology, yet so much different history, mixture of cultures, peoples.

I have been to Brno a number of times and there is always something new to do. The standard of hospitality is very high - great restaurants and wine bars. To recommend one, I would choose Borgo Agnese. The city is also culturally rich - music, history, art. A fabulous city.

Brno was a busy town but not really tourist oriented.. it had some amazing history and beautiful buildings to look at so best to do your homework first so you get an understanding so as to self guide as it’s quite expensive otherwise.. we stayed in an apartment 2minute walk from central station which was the perfect location and well priced . You can walk everywhere unless you wish to drive /bus out to some of the other buildings of interest 20-30 klms out .. lots of underground tunnels to explore in which you can go on line and get a group pass discounted .. would only recommend a day visit here ..

Brno is a hidden gem.
Brno is a hidden gem. It has amazing architecture, plenty of things to do. A really vibrant coffee and food scene and incredibly cheap beer, poured beautifully. The locals are friendly and it feels like a safe city, only the area around the station is a little rough. This is a great place to come for a short break - great value and no tourist crowds. The theatres offer opera, ballet and other shows at bargain prices. Visit in spring-summer for warmth, sun and flowers or in December for some of the best Christmas markets in Europe. Again, without the crowds.

Brno is a great place to visit. Lots to do and lots to see.
Brno is a great place to visit. Lots to do and lots to see. Easy connections by bus or train to other neighbouring countries like Slovakia or Austria. Brno is worth visiting at different times of the year. Great for city sightseeing lovers but great for lovers of hiking and sports. Perfect local transport system and very cheap. Slightly more difficult if you are a vegetarian. The Czechs love their meat. Saying that there are some lovely places for vegetarians too.Just not so many. Our Christmas stay was completely ruined by the accommodation. So choose carefully and read as many reviews as you can. There are some cowboys out there and some travellers with very low standards. Definitely avoid Apartment with Petrof View.
It was my second stay here and I like the place. The staff is very kind and friendly, location close to the main train station is perfect and I met couple of interesting people here. There are several supermarkets close to this place where you can get daily stuff or you can go and explore city centre with all these fancy coffeeshops, restaurants and similar things.
Though I lived during my travels on few luxury hotels and I liked it, this place is different and I'd recommend to everyon to experience it.
Thank you Schrott.
A hotel lost in time, it still has the aura and style of an old grand hotel. Room was very large and overall very comfortable, though slightly dated decor. Very friendly staff, outstanding location and view of the square and Christmas market right outside. The room was very well insulated from any outside noise and it's less than a 10 min walk to the train station. Definitely worth considering if you are spending a night or 2 in lovely Brno.
Close to city centre. Huge parking garage,so You don’t have to think about your car. Very delicious breakfasts and very good service. Reception girl gave us bottle of wine as a present. We were pleased with it.
Also. Hotel keeps sauna and pool on rooftop. We booked it for one hour, and were very pleased with it. Very good for 2-4 persons and only 9€ per each. Highly recommend!
It was some mess with booking - the system assigned us to smaller room then it was described at site. The stuff was very helpful and have solved the issue by providing us with bigger room without any cost.
It was spacious room with big TV and fan.
Good view to the mountains and good breakfast.
Parking is available along the street or in hotel facility.
I had a room on the side of the city centre with a beautiful view which really I appreciated. The room was clean, the bed comfortable, the WIFI strong, staff carrying and nice. Excellent breakfast with a large selection and tasty food. The hotel is easy to find and close to the city centre within walking reach.
Hotel is about 15 mins from the city centre, reachable by walk. Rooms are quite spacey and bed comfortably hard for sleeping. Wonderful thing about this hotel is the spa - great Finnish sauna and whirlpool on the rooftop are just perfect thing to use after a long day.
My room was beautiful and newly-furnished. Everything was clean. Tasty breakfasts. Staff and manager of the hotel were kind and helpful. Near the building there is a tram stop and a direct tram to the main station and the city centre. I recommend this place!
The hotel is situated a few minutes walk from the city centre and some good pubs- amazing location. The room was sparkling clean and had everything needed for a good stay including good air-con. Breakfast was alright - could be a bit better.
The hotel is located in green and quiet area, around 30 minutes walk from the city centre. Our room was quite spacious, the bed was rather hard, not very comfortable. The room and bathroom were clean. For two nights stay it was quite good.
Location - near speedway! Good break during trip to Croatia for example! The hotel outside is not attractive but inside quite good! The best place for children! Clean and tidy! We can say that the stay was really good!
Friendly staff, clean rooms, and good amenities generally. Gym was nice and the apartment we booked was huge. Hotel breakfast was ok but not a lot of vegetarian options which unfortunately is common in Czech Republic.
This hotel's main selling point is the location. You are right in the city center, walking distance to absolutely everything. The rooms are in an old fashion design, so it is very photogenic and pleasant.
For a 3 star hotel overall excellent, very nice room, recently renovated, For a such a small hotel of that class a real good breakfast. Friendly and helpful staff, speaking English.
Someone clearly thought of guests and their comfort while setting up this hotel. It's all the little details here and there that make you feel welcome. Breakfast was extraordinary.
The Grand Hotel is a top spot to stay, it is very central, parking right in the front of it. The adjusting restaurant is excellent and the rooms are very spacey and super clean...
Clean Room with TV and beautiful bath room.
Breakfast was excellent one of the best i had over the booking.
Good Job hotel Europa ! hope to be back there soon.
convenient location, very close to city centre literally 10minutes by walk. Parking available but not free. Hotel personnel is very friendly and very helpful.
