I really enjoyed my stay, there was things to do and see regardless of the fact that it was off season and there weren't groups going trecking on the days of my stay. Borrowed a bike and headed off to the waterfall but missed the slip road. Locals directed me to another waterfall further along the road, where the Burmese go. Costs 500 to have bike looked after and 250 entry fee. Take your bathers, the 'new waterfall" pool was the best

Hsipaw is a lovely town with a fascinating history.

Hsipaw is a lovely town with a fascinating history. Also good restaurants and a colourful market. We sadly missed seeing the old royal palace as it is only open 3-5 pm. But we did go trekking with Kham Lu of Shan State trekking and this was an amazing experience - the highlight of our month long tour of Myanmar. The scenery is stunning and the trip gave a very real immersion into the lives and work of the villagers working in remote villages and tea plantations. Fantastic adventure.

The boat ride in Dutta-waddy River is a great activity for families with children. The boats have no roofs/covers. Take sunscreen, hats, and sunglasses. You can stop at the confluence and hang around for a few minutes. If the children can walk, visiting the villages is worthed too for exposure to the countryside. *Make sure to wear a life jacket as the river at some points has a strong current.*
