Kanchanaburi was a fun place to stay for two nights.
Kanchanaburi was a fun place to stay for two nights. Erawan waterfall was definitely worth a visit. I was there in early March and other waterfalls in the area I was told might not be worth the trip due to having less water. Erawan has much less water this time of year than the rainy season, but it was still a very beautiful place to visit. I enjoyed the railroad museum and seeing the bridge over the river Kwai. There are good food and coffee options in Kanchanaburi and the train from Bangkok was a fun (but hot) experience.

Fantastic city to expand your knowledge of WWII. The Bridge.
Fantastic city to expand your knowledge of WWII. The Bridge. Thai-Burma Railway Museum (don't waste your time with any of the others). Commonwealth graves immaculately maintained. Hellfire Pass an hour away (watch The Railway Man before you go). Also great golf.

We loved a 2 days stay at ElephantsWorld!!!
We loved a 2 days stay at ElephantsWorld!!! That was the most incredible experinece so far in my life. The elephants are not chained, they walk around on their own, and after the afternoon visits leave the place you can stay alone with them.
We also loved Erawan Falls a lot! And of course you go to see the River Kwai Bridge. But we could have stayed for a week or more in the region - it is beautiful!

Apart from the attraction of the Commonwealth War Graves(...
Apart from the attraction of the Commonwealth War Graves(including many Dutch graves), the Bridge over the River Kwai and the War Museums, it is quite a large town, but without much to attract the average tourist. It is the gateway to the surrounding area with lovely countryside and other War memorials etc. But it really is not a holiday town.

I've been living in Thailand for 20 years, Kanchanburi is my favourite province. If you play golf as we do, there are several beautiful courses within 50kms form the city, some of them best in the country. When it comes to tourist attractions, there is plenty to do, from the very well known (River Kwai train & Museum, Hellfire Pass, Erawan National Park) to gems nested on the burmese border such Sangklaburi (Three pagodas pass) in the north or Pilok up in the mountains in the west for the more adventurous.

I loved the lush vegetation of Kanchanaburi and the serenity of the place. I made a point of visiting the sites available to visitors like, obviously, the Bridge on the River Kwai, JEATH Museum, and War Cemetery, Death Railway Museum and Hell Fire Pass - all of which commemorate the brutality of what those Allied POW's went through, but sadly not much is made of the brutality that the local people suffered who were forced to 'help' with the building of the bridge. Very sad!

I only stayed one night, but wish I could have stayed longer. I didn’t get to use the pool but it looked soooo inviting!
The room had stunning — breathtaking! — views of the water. I find jacuzzis a bit silly, but it was a beautiful one. The stone slab shower was even better in my opinion.
Breakfast on the river was also delicious! We stayed the night after visiting Erawan Waterfalls. There are tourist restaurants all around the hotel, but the night market is only five minutes away and has a ton of amazing, cheap options!
Wonderful location overlooking the river and a short 5 minute walk to the famous bridge. Great pool and incredible variety to choose from at breakfast. I was in the larger garden room and thought it was perfect and quite luxurious. Staff terrific especially the front desk young lady named Amp. Very professional, courteous and knowledgeable. I was very surprised to learn she began work at the hotel only a month ago after finishing a program in tourism. She acted as if she had a lot of experience.
What was not to like at this small and impeccably run hotel!
Well trained staff in all areas of the operation.
The restaurant was professionally run by Fluke and his staff, and they made everyone feel special.
The food was exceptional and the breakfast choices amazing.
The views around the River Kwai and sunsets were spectacular.
Probably the finest hotel I have ever stayed in on my visits to Thailand.
At first I was afraid that I choose wrong accommodation. We are the only one guest there but the owner did very good job to host us and help to anything we need during stay including excursion to some spots in Kanchanaburi. The Hotel it self far away from the city but so relaxing. We do have a great time there and surely will comeback again.
a remnant of old Thailand, lovely, charming and comfortable. right on the river. excellent location - right in the middle of restaurant and bar area yet enough on the side to be fairly quite. it is on the river which means you get as much the feeling of being in the country while still being in a very central location.
The hotel is conveniently located between the train station and the bridge on the river Kwai. The proximity to the river is definitely a plus, as well as the restaurant where you can enjoy great views of the river Kwai. The two swimming pools for guests are very pleasant.
The hotel was great. Nestled down a quiet street but just minutes away from the busy streets and Night Market. The pool and patio areas were perfect. Our room was compact, super clean,
and modern. The staff were helpful in suggesting places. Highly recommend.
The location was beautiful but also quite far from the main town bit. The grounds of the hotel were cute. The pool on the riverside was lovely, nice to relax with the view. We appreciated the effort to make us vegan food for breakfast!
The manager/ owner of the hotel went above and beyond personally taking me around Kanchanaburi and showing me how the locals live. This wasn't expected at all and made my trip through his generosity.
The hotel offers basic air con, en suite rooms or floating rooms on a river barge. Good views from the patio and there are plenty of food options nearby. 8 minute walk from the train station.
Was great. Because we were the only ones at the hotel, the owners told us we could pick any room we liked. So we licked the one on the river. Loved it. Lovely staff. Family owned business
