Vientiane is starting out on its journey to become a popular tourist area - facilities are improving and what is there now works well. Modern hotels are in process of being built and transport infrastructure is developing - the China/Laos hi
gh-speed railway is certainly opening up this country.
Currently, mass tourism has not yet arrived (unlike many other places, where you seem to stand shoulder-to-shoulder with half the world's population).
If you want to go, go soon (but not in the wet season - wet is really wet!) - we can see that in a few year's time this lovely country could be overwhelmed with the evils of mass tourism, with hundreds of coaches queuing daily to get to the ancient cultural sites!

Title: Vientiane: A City of Charm and Culinary Delights
Title: Vientiane: A City of Charm and Culinary Delights
Review:
Vientiane, the heart of Laos, is a city that radiates charm and hospitality. During my visit, I was constantly struck by the friendliness of the locals, who added warmth to every encounter. The city's culinary scene was a delightful surprise; each meal, whether at a humble street stall or a cozy restaurant, was a delicious exploration of Laotian flavors. While Vientiane may not top the list for a single-visit itinerary in Laos, it's undeniably worth spending a few days in. The city offers a unique blend of tranquility and cultural richness, making it a pleasant and memorable part of any Laotian adventure.

Kinda sleepy, and not as many Day Tours and things to do as Luang Prabang or other nearby Asian cities. The only tour I did was because I saw a sign on a tree offering a three-site half day thing for just $10USD. His name is Tungchai and I recommend his tour ... Find him here ... https://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=100067140248570 ... After that, I decided on a flash one-night visit to Vang Vieng / Nam Ngum Lake. The bullet train is FANTASTIC and that area up there is beautiful!

I booked this Hotel for married friends who came for 3 nights. The room was excellent as was the price. I gave an outstanding review. Yesterday I sent another friend there as it was so good. At check in they tried to put him in a small, smelly room where nothing (TV, safe etc) were working. He was forced to go to Reception and tell them it wasn't good enough. He was then put into the room he booked. This is very disappointing and has me doubting my original review. It's a shame that things like this happen in this country regularly. If you get the room you booked, this Hotel is excellent. Best of Luck.

Beautiful city, capital of Laos.
Beautiful city, capital of Laos. The city is spread out but still very walkable or by tuk tuk with many things to see and eat. The night market is nearby the river with some sort of kiddie amusement park. There seems to be a mix of old and modern entertainment to explore but I didn't do much (busy working). Lots of food stalls, dining options. Haven't had one bad meal but some are better than others for sure. The night food market near D Mart is superb for food finds.
Fantastic hotel- beautiful rooms and extremely clean! The location is a 15-20 minute walk to the busy centre so is ideal!
It is our first time in Laos and the staff are very welcoming and keen to help. A special thanks for Det who was on the reception in the afternoons and evenings. We spent some time chatting with him on a couple of occasions and he was keen to help us with recommendations and info on Laos- a really kind and wonderful person!
Overall would 100% recommend and return!
It has a pool which is a nice refreshment in Vientiane. For the amount of rooms it is nicely done, not a big block but rooms are placed around a yard with pool and some nice big trees.
Location is great. Walking distance to the night market, Mekong, lot of temples etc.
shop, bars, restaurants, ATM right outside the hotel. Still a quiet area, especially in the mornings and as of afternoons
Beds were good, a/c working well, rather big room. Altogether an easy place
The location couldn't be better, it is centered and has many restaurants around. We had a room with the view on the back of the property, so it was calm, not sure about the other side, but anyways it's not a very noisy city. The rooms were simple, and the breakfast was good enough. We needed a good hotel to pass through on our way to other places in Laos, so it was perfect for that. The pool area is nice to chill.
Good Location, close to the riverfront and night market with plenty of places to eat/drink/get coffee nearby. Staff were really friendly. The rooms have a pretty traditional decor (as we expected from the photos) which seems appropriate for Laos - but some might find a little dark. Hotel was calm and quiet and reasonable two night's sleep. Breakfast was nicely presented and perfectly adequate (for us!)
Great place to stay, very close to most of the major attractions, onsite spa, breakfast at Lao Nana Restaurant. The breakfast service and sunset cocktails excellent. The restaurant proprietor Kevin was informative on living in Laos and attractions to visit. Hotel and restaurant staff very professional, quickly addressed anything we needed. Recommend.
Det is the most friendly and kind people I met in Laos, he and Xai help me a lot we had some problems during our traveling. Thanks a lot, I gave all 10 points because of these two guys.
Also, hotel itself is clean, new, with good wifi, breakfast is so nice and cheap.
Other foods in the hotel restaurant are perfect as well.
Mr. Phan was absolutely wonderful! Assisted with our train tickets and went above & beyond to secure a guesthouse room for us in Sayaboury for the Elephant Festival! It was a short walk to enjoy the activities! What a terrific ambassador for your hotel! Thank you, Mr. Phan!!
Great service and the room was clean and comfortable. The breakfast buffet had a good selection of western and Laos food. I would highly recommend this hotel to someone who is looking for a chic hotel in a great location without breaking the bank.
A tastefully decorated hostel. The beds are comfortable and spacious. there is a small terrace where you can rest and eat, and also a very nice coffee shop in a beautiful retro style. The staff is really lovely. The best hotel I have had in Laos.
I like everything, the staff were so friendly, smiling, and soooo gentle when they speak! ❤️ I also loved the the bed because it was really big for a little girl like me 😂 anyways, if i ever come back to Laos, i will surely stay here again ❤️
The Crowne Plaza Vientiane lives up to the esteemed brand name. The hotel, though already 5 years old, was well maintained. Fittings looked and felt new. Room was large and comfortable for two persons with large luggage. Everything was clean.
Cute hotel, on the edge of the city center of the river, close to small street restaurants at night.
Super helpful staff, helped us plan to avoid a rainy trip.
Small but functional family room with good bathroom. Nice little pool.
Incredible value for money. Super clean and comfortable. Great location, walking distance to most sites. Great breakfast. Very helpful in booking my train ticket too which can be tricky without a Laos phone number.
Everything. Comfy bed, nice balcony, great staff, 5 star. Pool had jets and always served with towels, etc.Vientiane was a scorching town. Pool was nice..
Kind staff with good location, if you have a lot of bags this hotel has an elevator (many don't in Laos)
Included breakfast is simple and made to order.
