FAQs about hotels in Tokyo

See It to Believe It!

The capital of Japan, Tokyo is a vast, teeming metropolis nestled between mountains and Tokyo Bay. It’s so huge that you’ll have to come to grips with public transport and maybe even experience being pushed onto a train. Yes, it does actually happen!

Get your bearings by ascending the Tokyo World Trade Center near the waterfront, and savor the fantastic views taking in the red-and-white Tokyo Tower and Shinkuju’s skyscrapers. North is Ueno, home to the best museums (including the Tokyo National Museum) and a large park bursting with cherry blossom in spring.

Equally tranquil are the Chiyoda Imperial Palace and Gardens, surrounded by water. Also in gardens is the Meiji Jingu Shinto shrine in Shibuya, a youthful district where neon abounds.

For more traditional Japanese culture, head to Asakusa whose Sensō-ji Buddhist temple is Tokyo’s oldest temple. Outdoor markets sell a variety of wares, though shopping in Tokyo is, of course, fantastic wherever you go.

Whether you stay in a Japanese ryokan, luxury Tokyo hotel or a hostel, don’t fly out of Tokyo Narita Airport or Haneda Airport without having tried sushi. Another Japanese institution is the sento (public bath) and onsen (hot springs bath) – a must try. Also incredibly popular are Tokyo Disneyland and Tokyo DisneySea, Asia’s 2 most visited theme parks.

Tokyo is very big with a lot of attractions and places to visit. I would have liked to spend 7 or 8 days there. There's culture, art, shopping, parks, a bit of everything to see and experience. It's a densely populated city but I didn't find find it overwhelming. People in general are very nice and polite and try to not bother others. It is a very clean city. The Isakayas are a must try, ramen places, the Tsukiji fish market, so much variety in the food. Public transportation works really nicely and with the help of Google maps it's very easy to use. There aren't many trash bins on the streets, so it's important to have a bag for trash with you. I wish I could have visited more parks and museums. Ghibli museum needs booking with 1 month in advance.

Tokyo is always great as well as the locals, who are always very nice and helpful. Great place to visit and with the US dollar so strong at the moment your money goes a bit further than it used to. There are many small mom and pop restaurants which I recommend over the larger companies. Easy access rail system so it is easy to get around the city and even to other cities. No English is required to get around; a few Japanese phrases may be helpful, but there is always Google translate which does come in handy.

I loved the bus trip to Mt.Fuji so much.

I loved the bus trip to Mt.Fuji so much. On this trip it included lunch a tram ride up the mountain a pirate ship ride and a bullet train back to Tokyo. I am so glad I booked this with Viator through TripAdvisor. I enjoyed the day at Disney Sea Park. Tokyo Tower was great. We loved being able to see Tokyo from the top of the tower. We were in Tokyo because my son was able to get tickets to Hololive Anime concert. This was totally amazing. The venue was huge. My son loved this. I would love to return to take in more. We actually enjoyed riding the trains. We took them everywhere. The people are lovely and so polite. Everything is clean and I felt safe everywhere we went.

I used to live in Tokyo and it's still one of my favorite cities in the world. You can eat an amazing quality of food for very cheap. Everyone who has visited with me always compliments the city and country on how clean it is. You absolutely do NOT need a car in Tokyo as their public transportation is always clean, safe and reliable (use Google maps to help you navigate). I'll continue to come back as often as possible and I recommend everyone visit Japan at least once.

Staff were extreme helpful. Brilliant location with close proximity to the Ginza and Asakusa subway lines. We were able to do central Tokyo, Disney, Akihabara, Tokyo Tower, Shinjuku, Shibuya, Ueno easily from this hotel. Breakfast was lovely with a good range and the staff were very accommodating. Room was really clean and a good size for the three of us. Amenities were top notch. We used the coin laundry a few times which was really easy to use and the functionality of seeing which dryers we're free from the room tv was amazing.

Location of the hotel was great, just a short train ride from places like Shibuya and Shinjuku. This hotel was on a very quiet street which was nice, we heard no traffic or noise from our room. The amentities available were good, there was free bottled water which was handy. The breakfast was great and provided a good mix of Japanese and western style cuisine which was appreciated. Staff were polite and check in was easy, we were able to leave our luggage at the hotel as we arrived early for check in.

The room was clean and the sheets were new! I enjoyed my stay in Galois since it was just 1 stop away from Shinjuku station. There were alot of shops and restaurants in the area, and it was just a few steps away from the JR Shin-Okubo Station. The room was abit small but I guess it’s the same with most Tokyo hotels. Guests can also get packets of freebies, like hair turban, comb, facial creams, facial oils, etc during the length of you stay. The staff were also very helpful during our stay.

Really well located, easy to reach and close to many restaurant options. Compared to other hotels and the high prices asked, Indigo Tokyo Shibuya really offers the best option in relation to quality-price-location-room size. I hope they won't change their price policy. The best, the staff and the girls helping the clients to have a taxi under heavy rain. Amazing help and work! they did their best to satisfy all who needed a taxi to get to their destination.

The rooms were surprisingly big given Tokyo hotels are pretty compact. The hotel was 5 mins away from the train station. There were restaurants outside including Denny's and convenience stores were 2-3 mins away. The staff were nice and some even spoke fluent English. Another nice thing was this spot in Ginza was not as crowded and busy compared to places like Shibuya, Shinjuku, etc. The train station nearby also was not as crowded.

I actually liked the location as it's well located by the metro station and it's midway between Shibuya/Shinjuku to the west and Asakusa to the north east. The area around the hotel is quiet and corporate but if you walk around you will discover a fair few bars/restaurants about 10 minutes away. Rooms were spotless and had a Japanese style bath and coffee capsules were provided everyday. The rooftop onsen was a welcome touch

Location! The perfect sweet spot between Harajuku and Shibuya crossing. You are close enough to walk to each in 5 minutes but also far away enough from the craziness. Right across from Family mart as well and Blue bottle coffee for early risers. The area is walkable with great food and fun shops that aren’t mainstream as well. Great value considering hostels and capsule hotels are going the same price.

Fantastic and helpful staff, located in a calmer area of Tokyo away from the typical tourist destinations of Shibuya and Shinjuku. There is a subway station right next to the hotel though which makes getting around fairly convenient if a little long to get to downtown. Next to a popular shopping area that has some great inexpensive restaurants that locals seem to frequent.

Park right outside the hotel, could walk to more places through the park. Was about a 20min walk to Shinjuku station. Hotel staff were very supportive and friendly.

The hotel is ideally located in Shibuya, a great part of Tokyo. The restaurant staff were great and the breakfasts were the best we had in Japan.
