There are many restaurants around the area, including in Shizuoka Station. Several malls can be found in the area behind the hotel. The counter staff can speak English and are polite and helpful. Shizuoka city has the pleasant atmosphere of a sizable city with a country feel. I love Shizuoka and of course, that big mountain is always visible in the near vicinity when it's not hanging with its cloudy mates.

From a touristic perspective Shizuoka was just perfect for travelers who look for a more relaxing location. It was not full of tourists like you would expect seeing in Tokyo. But this also means that not everything is written or explained in english.
Shizuoka is a perfect stay location when you want to visit locations like Nagoya, Hamamatsu, Mishima or similiar (so places you would usually pass with a shinkansen from Tokyo to Kyoto)

Oku-oi kojo, Yume no Tsuribashi...difficult to get to, but worth it. A must visit for those who want to get on hanging bridges, unmanned stations in middle of a lake, train lovers, nature enthusiasts and of course kids who love Thomas.

We only stayed in Shizuoka for 1 night and it was definitely not enough length. We saw Mt. Fiji and beaches, and also experienced hot spring. We went to the waterfall as well. All of experiences were enjoyable.

As a tea lover, this is the best place to visit!
As a tea lover, this is the best place to visit! Plenty of tea shops in the city and if you have more time, there are also tea farms outside the city limits that you can visit. There are tours organised by the local tourism bureau, you just have to inquire at the visitors information desk.

The location was great and the hotel was good value for money. We paid 1100jpy for parking but this was just on the pavement outside the hotel. It wasn't secure and directly on the road so it actually seemed a bit inappropriate to pay such a high price to park on the street. For the price, you'd expect to park your car somewhere more secure!
Stayed here for a few days. Location is several minutes walk from the station but not terribly inconvenient to get to. They provided some pretty good amenities such as "free" breakfast (comes with the cost of the hotel so not really free) and free curry in the evenings. The facilities and rooms are overall good and modern although with some downsides (more below). The onsen was also pretty good for a hotel in the city.
Cute shabby chic/vintage style building, well located for shops, restaurants and cafes. About 15 minutes walk to Shizuoka station. The facilities are good and it's well organised for a comfortable stay. Clean comfortable cubicles. The lady who checked me in was very sweet and friendly. Lovely communal kitchen/dining/workspace with a fridge, kettle, microwave and sink. Very good coffee!
The most comfortable bed I have ever had in a hotel anywhere in the world I think! Excellent location next to the station and 10-15 mins walk to the VERY nice Sunpu Castle Park which is perfect for a morning / evening stroll. Lovely staff even though they are (quite rightly) busy in this obviously popular hotel. It suits holiday travellers and business trips.
The people are really nice, they helped me a lot finding different stores etc., I would definitely stayed longer if I didnt had already booked a room few citys away. Best part of Shizuoka, you're pretty fast at the Bus Station and Railway, there is a nice quite Park area around and you can experience night life, Izakayas and Maid Cafés to it's best.
Both single room and twin room were spacious than we thought. They were clean and comfortable to stay. We liked the provision of both bathtub and shower (Japanese style) which was safe for our elderly. Parking was just next to the hotel with food shops, convenient stores and health & beauty shop about 100 meter away, very convenient.
I needed to buy a plug adapter to be able to charge my PC with a French socket. The staff indicated me where to get one;
I lost my wallet while in Shizuoka. I thought it was in a bus. The staff in the hotel helped me find it, by calling for me the bus terminal and tell me where to go.
The hotel is within walking distance of the train station. Very clean room, and we enjoyed the simple but satisfying breakfast. Staff were very friendly and welcoming. Fantastic view of Mount Fuji from the hotel room! The bed was a little small,
but we had a good night sleep anyway.
The property was clean, comfortable and in a good location being near the high street and station in Shizuoka. Not only were staff friendly and helpful but so were the residents at the hotel when we stayed. Also, I was able to see Mt Fuji from my room which was amazing!!
We especially loved this little beachside place to stay the night at. The area was lovely, like a beach resort, with access to places to eat, nice walking and good views of the ocean. The hotel was cute and clean and cozy, and the owners very friendly and helpful.
Location is closed to train station. It is very easy to walk anywhere. Staffs can speak English, that’s so helpful. Property gives full option of amenities include 2 bottles of water a day.
Breakfast is also good.
They were very thoughtful into details of your needs on the amenities provided, best so far during our Japan's hotel, highly recommended, will definitely choose them if back again, thumbs up
Room was a decent size for a Japan hotel room. The shower was very enjoyable! Breakfast was yummy (I had Japanese set menu). Very convenient location from shizuoka station.
Two short blocks from train station . Several restaurants and izakayas nearby. Hotel was a bit old but clean and well maintained. My room was spacious and comfortable.
The location near the station & the value for the price. There is only women's floor and that floor you need to use the card key to get in the floor. I felt secure.
