A good place for visiting the Horton Plains National Park-...
A good place for visiting the Horton Plains National Park- negociate locally for the 40 min drive in a Tuk Tuk ( 9000 lks is about right). It has a nice lake to walk around. The Rough Guide though old is still very useful. The centre is small and compact with good facilities .. The exception is the 'Tourist Office' close to the bus station.. It is close to useless - dont look for impartial advice as the owner has his own Tuk Tuk!. Victora Park is worth a stroll.

Quaint little town in the hills.
Quaint little town in the hills. So, cooler climate and perfect spot to take a break from the sweltering heat in Colombo. La Grande Villa is just a 10 minute walk from town and a 5 bedroom boutique hotel, which makes it the ideal place for a quiet, restful stop before Ella.

Nuwara Eliya is a sleepy town nestled within acres of tea estates , which has maintained a lot of its colonial buildings that it almost looks like a different country altogether. Hence the name Little England.
It is best suited for an Individual or family that is looking to just relax at one property with great views , dabble in luxury (there are a few options) , do a little bit of sightseeing (all nature related) and experience the architecture of the town itself. It’s non-touristy.. None of the places we visited were crowded or dirty. The town sleeps by 10pm.

we spent 2 days in the off season (mid feb 2024) which was perfect, no overcrowding, mad traffic and great weather. We stayed 1 night in a studio apartment and 1 night at a small guest house both were perfectly maintained and very nice accommodations well worth the price.
check the weather and go in the off season to enjoy and relax in NE as it should be done!

Nuwara Eliya is gorgeous.
Nuwara Eliya is gorgeous. But the hotel we booked, we stayed with difficulty for one night, then left at dawn. We then stayed at for a week at another place, which was lovely.
Nuwara Eliya is a very beautiful hill station. Nature has been preserved well. Old style buildings add to the beauty of nature. Especially noteworthy are: Post Office Building, old heritage buildings, Victoria Park. Amazing waterfall near railway station. Station is quite far from town. Nuwara Elia is well served by buses from almost all parts of Sri Lanka.
Travel by rail is very pretty, but returning by night train is not advisable: the train is always late, and what they call "sleeper" is actually a reclining seat.
The owner and his wife are lovely. They really worked hard to make my stay the best. They prepared delicious meals, the included Sri Lankan breakfast and a very reasonably priced and delicious dinner. I liked the reasonably-priced, 5-hour tuk tuk tour of the area, including Nuwara Eliya that was arranged for me. This is a good place for a short stay on the train route between Ella & Kandy. Any issues with this location are not the fault of the owners. They are very kind and take good care of their guests.
The location of the hotel is slightly away from the main strip which means it has beautiful Mountain views and feels really relaxing. We wasn’t sure whether to stop in Nuwara Eliya but we loved the area and this hotel so deffinitly was worthwhile!
The staff were incredibly friendly and helpful and made our stay even better.
The beds were the comfiest we’ve experienced in Sri Lanka and we had a great nights sleep
We recommend to try food and drink at Themparadu which is a 3 minute walk from the hotel.
The grounds, building and views are amazing! The indoor swimming pool was serene - perfect temperature and enjoyed stunning viewing outside. The staff are incredibly attentive and they made it extra special for my mum’s 60th birthday. They made a lovely birthday cake and surprised us at dinner which was special.
The buffet was very good, lots of choice and quality of food was excellent!
Would 100% recommend if you are stopping by Nuwara Eliya as it’s their perfect stop over hotel :)
Amazing place in a quiet area, yet very close to the city centre. Nice room with everything you need, tasty breakfast and most importantly, an awesome host. I felt like I made a friend in Nuwara Eliya. I will definitely book again here when I come back! Also, if you want information about the area or to make a tour, the owner knows everything: places, people, and could arrange something for you, depending on what you want to see and how much time you have. Could only recommend!
The Built quality , architecture and interior/exteriors of the property were fabulous and very well maintained amidst nature. The caretakers and owner Mr.Rohan also arranged a cake for us on request since it was our marriage anniversary.
One of the best places to stay at Nuwara Eliya if you want to enjoy the nature , good food, ambience, outstanding views and great Hospitality of Mr.Claude and Chaminda that make you feel at home. Thank you for making it Super special for us.
1st thing to mention is the style of the house. It was a very nice experience to stay in such an authentic and old styled house. All details including old furniture (in really good condition) allow you to dive into the old times.
Host is very nice and friendly. Really good suggestions of where to go and where not to waste time helped us to organize out visit to nuwara Eliya.
Breakfast is delicious. Especially local tasty tea and fruits fresh.
Found this place when in Nuwara Eliya during a recent curfew / lockdown. This place was great because it offered a kitchen and more space than a hotel room after feelings stranded for a few days. Host was super responsive and was flexible with booking another night just the day before. Comfy place to stay for a few days if you are tired of hotels! Bonus - it has an elevator and also not up a very steep hill if you have difficulty walking.
1) One of the best places to stay in Nuwara Eliya (Also known as Little England).
2) Walking distance from the Gregory Lake.
3) The hosts were very accommodating, and it felt like home.
4) Breakfast spread was good.
5) Shan (Host) also has a list of must visit places which are nearby the property. Incase, you are not sure what to explore when in Nuwara Eliya, do ask him to share the link.
The hotel was ideally situated in Nuwara Eliya and superb.peaceful location it was convenient to explore nearby attractions while also providing a peaceful retreat away from the hustle and bustle.the staff deserve a special mention.their warmth and genuine hospitality made us feel like my second home throughout our stay.without doubt one of my favourite a budget accommodation during my stay…..
The room is outstanding, featuring a TV with a wide variety of channels. The bed is exceptionally comfortable, and the room itself is spotlessly clean. What's particularly notable is the bathroom's water pressure, which is impressively high—unlike anything I've experienced in other hotels in Nuwara Eliya. Additionally, this place is safe to stay in.
Very comfortable place to stay in Nuwara Eliya, the location you can see beautiful sunrise if you wake up early. The host is very helpful, he explains the trip u can do and charge in reasonable price of course. I did tea factory and waterfalls tour and it was great. 1 night in nuwara eliya is not enough to see all the good things u must visit
The best of this hotel was the tour guide I took for my day in nuwara Eliya. Ranijith +94 77 163 8504. I had an amazing day visiting everything around with him. Wonderful guide. Totally recomend.
The hotel was on the Main Street. It had everything basic and a good shower.
We had great experience at Suriya Guest. Located within the city of Nuwara Eliya. I booked through booking.com, and the prices are very reasonable. Rooms are very clean. The manager Sampath and the staff are very friendly. The food is delicious.
Highly recommend!!
Great place to stay in Nuwara Eliya!! The most friendly and helpful host, extremely comfortable beds and warm blankets and the best hot shower I had in Sri Lanka. Walking distance to the Grand hotel, park en city center. Would definitely recommend staying here.
The property is so cute! The hosts go absolve and beyond and make you feel like family! This place is a real gem I would not hesitate to book this place again and would not stay anywhere else in Nuwara Eliya.
Recently opened hotel with beautiful decor, high quality furnishing and excellent rooms. Very attentive staff and a quiet location, several minutes walk from Gregory Lake, close to the centre of Nuwara Eliya.
Staff was super friendly and always engaged! Also the premises were really nice as well and the hotel‘s location is in walking distance to Nuwara Eliya‘s main sights. WiFi was working but not really fast.
The rooms were clean, very comfortable, and the staff was very good. They went over and beyond to help make our stay enjoyable. I highly recommend this hotel for anyone visiting Nuwara eliya
The best food we’ve had in Sri Lanka, so far. The property is absolutely gorgeous. A trip to Nuwara Eliya isn’t complete without at least one night at this beautifully restored hotel.
