The Quinta de Sao Luiz, where we were staying, made a reservation for us at a restaurant in Tabuaco. The drive to the restaurant was challenging due to the serpentine road and rainy weather. I don't think there was much to do in that small town, but we had an okay experience at the restaurant.

The trip to the Quinta was through some wonderful rambling winding roads in the Douro valley. There are many places to visit there, and although we thought the location was perfect, some might like a location closer to town and not so far from Porto.

Town in the hills, great view, beautiful park with a small fountain with 6 turtles and a turtle men who takes care of them (btw. he looks as a turle too 😄).
Our favourite place for dinner was Taverna next to a lovely church, which makes you laught in the evening between 8 And 9, how many it rigs the bell. Sisters who ran the Taverna are incredibly friendly and the food is amazing.
Don't Miss the chance to see the Most peculiar astronomical clock in the Information centre, which Is made by local cloackman. It is an absolutely unique masterpiece, only seen in Tabuaço and the lady from the Information centre will explain you all about it, except after the death of the creator, nobody can fix it 😄

If you are visiting the Douro Valley this town is not very far by kilometres but the road is slow with switch backs. If you intend to use it as a base to explore the Valley it is not the right place. The town itself is quaint it’s just a bit of a drive.
We wanted a quaint but fulfilling getaway in Douro Valley. We spent part of our honeymoon at this property and are thrilled that we did.
The views are incredible. The cottage we stayed in had a kitchenette, a living area with a view and a porch that was hard to leave.
This stay requires a drive and the closest restaurants are about a 15-minute drive but if you bring a few items for meals, it simplifies the travel. Anywhere you stay in the “mountains,” a remote experience is expected. We loved Edna, who runs the property.
The property is fabulous! it’s like being in small luxury boutique hotel. The location is fantastic on a vineyard, the views are beautiful!
The room was beautifully appointed, with lash robes etc. There is a pool with the view of the vineyards.
The pre fix dinner was delicious ($40 pp), the wine you can buy on the premises delicious. you can have a wine tasting at certain times.
And something what we noticed and it’s unusual: amazing pillows!!! yes, pillows were great!
Overall amazing stay!
Beautiful total reconversion of an old house, very well done, and really comfortable. Great big soundproof room,
excellent bathroom, Very good swimming pool.
The house is situated in a small village on top of the mountain about 8 km from Tabuaco village. The drive is easy and beautiful, and (good) meals can be ordered at the reception from a restaurant in the village that will do the delivery.
Totally recommending this location and property to stay.
Magical place! Stunning house with pool on the grounds of a great Quinta overlooking the Douro. It‘s the only guest accomodation on the wine producing Quinta at the moment, tastefully decorated. Patricia is a great host. She has been walking us through the wine, explaining everything. The wine tasting had been wonderful, the elegant wines absolutely great. We definitely recommend this place to everyone looking for a quiet, relaxing stay.
The family suite room was very spacious, clean, and had a perfect vibe of "casa rural". The bathroom was large and modern. The host was very chill and friendly. We could park in front of the hotel, which made things much easier. The croissants they served at the breakfast buffet were the closest to the French croissants I've had in the entire trip in Portugal! (I've been desperately looking for one)
Everything was perfect! The room was immaculate with a huge deck overlooking the Douro river which was a great place to just sit and take in the beautiful view. Breakfast was outstanding and offered a varied assortment of dishes including fresh fruit and fresh squeezed orange juice. A vineyard tour with complimentary Port wine tasting is offered which gives a lot of history about the area.
This was a very nice hotel, and great value.
The room was very nicely done up. The shower pressure was excellent & the bathroom was very clean.
Breakfast was advertised as featuring local products. I don't know about that but it was a good spread. Pumpkin coconut jam was excellent & quince jelly was pretty good too. The unlabelled conserves and white cheese were good too.
Staying at working winery in a modern, comfortable room at that price was exactly what we were chasing. Recommend going on the winery tour as part of the experience. We were really happy with our stay.
You can tell that's it's a very new hotel, they are still streamlining and improving things so don't expect everything you would expect at an established place
The location was beautiful and our hosts were very accommodating. We enjoyed learning about the Quinta and the Douro Valley area. Wine tasting was excellent. Jose provided us with some great restaurant recommendations, and ideas for visiting in the area. Theresa was a great communicator and answered all our questions.
It's a beautiful property inside and out -- many excellent design decisions. We enjoyed walking around the Adorigo village (Tabuaço district) an authentic Douro neighborhood. It's a fun ten minute drive up twisty roads from the river at Quinta do Tedo.
This is a boutique hotel with a feeling of home. The hospitality was excellent. The room is very cozy and clean, excellent and varied breakfast. The owner of the hotel is also a chef and has a restaurant near the hotel, it is recommended to visit it.
Beautiful villetta with a small pool, right in the vineyard. Location is great, but a little further inside the Douro Valley. Not far from Pinhada.
Did a wine tasting at the Travesso property, enjoyed very much.
The location is simply magnificent. Tabuacos has some small restaurants and bars, but Regua and Pinhao provide a little more option. The vineyards are beautifil and welcoming (albeit for a price)
It's located in a quite area, nice to get some rest and easy access to Tabuaço village to get some nice food and drive to the surrounding points of interest that we wanted to visit.
The cottage at Quinta do Esphino was absolutely amazing. Ana was the most welcoming and helpful host ever. The vineyard grounds and the location in the Douro are perfect.
