There are very few non-Chinese visitors in Shaoxing - which correlates with the fact that most descriptions and comments in various Lu Xun museums and other places relating to him are in Chinese only. Whatever is the cause and what the effect, both are regrettable. Also, I found surprising that there are not any Lu Xun's book offered for sale - not even in Chinese! Fortunately there is still another reason making the visit worthwhile: the Shaoxing's world-famous "wine" (huang jiu) can be tasted here better than anywhere else in the world.

The lake and boat ride was very nice. The city is 'just another Chinese city'. Walking through the old city is nice on a 'dry day'. Unfortunately, we had rain the three days! The Museums were also very nice
