Nanjing always seems to me to be a real Chinese city - I love trying to explore. The metro is easy, the city is well-connected with Beijing and Shanghai. The people in my experience were very friendly and there is a lot to see, both in museums and outside. There is a real sense of history here.

Nanjing is not a crowded city.
Nanjing is not a crowded city. Most attractions are within the city and can be easily reached by subway or bus. The cost of transportation in Nanjing is very reasonable. There is so much history to see and experience in Nanjing!
However, the people are not used to the sight of foreigners in town. Expect to get taken pictures of or approached by curious children.

I enjoy the peace and calm of the area.
I enjoy the peace and calm of the area.
It is a clash of urban development projects and towering skyscrapers.
Community members are endearing.
Getting around is easy but pay attention to your distance requirements/preferences to the cbd from your hotel and the distance from your hotel to the airport. Research!!!
I stayed for a day for work but I got a glimpse of the cbd. It is neatly trimmed and sprouting with skyscrapers and relaxed community members.
Quite my scene.

Each time I have been in Nanjing, I absolutely enjoyed my time there and I would highly recommend it to anyway travelling to eastern China.
Although Nanjing might be less-known than other cities in the Shanghai hinterland like Suzhou and Hangzhou, it is definitely worth a prolonged visit, especially because it is so easy to go there by train from Shanghai.
Being a culture-seeking tourist, the following short list of places to visit in this former capital city is already somewhat like a candy store: the former Presidential Palace, the mausoleum of Sun Yat-Sen, the Nanjing Massacre Memorial museum, the former residence of John Rabe, Nanjing Museum, multiple temples and pagodas, an impressive city wall, the Gate of China, the archaeological site of the former Ming palace and the mausoleum of emperor Hongwu.
And, obviously, the buzzing city life in this student city (about 20 universities and institutes of higher education) is far from absent with plenty of shopping malls, street food shops and restaurants in Xinjiekou and the historical Qinhuai river district.
I would definitely recommend everyone to check it out and give it some thought on planning your (next) trip to China.
The hotel is in the shopping mall. It's pretty convenient for us to shop and travel around, which is not far from the Metro. We have three people, and the room has two double beds. It's pretty good that they allow three people to stay in one room. Still, it is not good if you need to sleep in the same bed as the one you are not close to because the mattress is relatively small for two and if you want to pay for the extra bed, it is pretty expensive, around 200 something yuan.
The staff at Hilton Nanjing are exceptionally helpful and friendly. The location is great for access to the main metro line, and some of the city's attractions. It is also located close to a lot of banks and a variety of shops. Breakfast offered a good choice buffet of hot and cold foods. Don't expect an English breakfast though. I was more than happy with the Chinese breakfast, although some of it was a little greasy.
Clean, modern, spacious, thoughtfully designed, not overly cluttered. We heard from a friend after our stay that the hotel has been refurbished over the last few years and guests can really feel that it is freshly revamped. The toiletries are lovely - would have bought some of these if they had been stocked in the merchandise area. Overall really very nice hotel in a lovely location with lots of local colour.
Our room has great views and ambience of Xuanwu Lake. The peaceful surroundings made our stay relaxing and enjoyable. The metro station next to the hotel provides good access to various attractions in Nanjing city.
We would like to extend our grateful appreciation to Ms. Lv for her impeccable service and support, Ms. Bella Feng for her attentiveness, and meticulous housekeeping team.
The hotel is located walking distance from the city centre hub. It's also about 100m from the metro station and hospital if needed. The rooms were quiet and clean and has bathtubs in them and great views of the city and mountain area. Staff were friendly and spoke enough English to communicate with us. We didn't use their restaurants or bars though as we went out all the time.
The toilet hot blocked. The staff asked us to pay twice because that the payment from booking is late. We have to pay then twice to get room to stay inside. They can firstly arrange us a room and then ask this. After hours travel and we have to pay again for a hotel you paid online already, it feels horrible at a snowy night.
The hotel has a good location, with a shopping mall downstairs and it's not far from Confucius Temple. We walked around Jiangnan Gongyuan with our child until 11:30 pm and it only took us a 5-minute walk to get back to the hotel. The hotel staff is very friendly and they greet guests proactively.
Not accepting my cards to pay when accepted everywhere.
Not accepting euros when accepted everywhere
Not giving cash from eur to rmb when it should be the case
Not speaking French when it is a French chain hotel
Speaking poor English
Poor continental European breakfast
I like the staff. They are very helpful and friendly. I reached almost 2.30am the next day and yet they kept directing me and comforting me and family about our secure stat here . Hotel is very clean. Well managed
Area is Wonderful. so beautiful. its 20 metres from Nanjing wall. lots of food choices around. NOT far from downtown. very friendly stuff. i definitely recommend
clean, big bed, hostel itself is very cosy and cute
I want to thank the staff especially Vincent for being extremely polite and welcoming. Hotel’s location is very convenient for sightseeing, the room is big enough with comfortable bed, breakfast are amazing.
Clean rooms, big bad, breakfast - quite big choice.
Staff - some of them try to help, even they couldn't speak English.
Not so far from Nanjing South Station, but only when the weather is good.
Design, Architecture and setting of the hotel is exceptional. The architectural Villas on site are unique and masterpieces of its kind, there are no chain hotels to offer such unique stay.
It’s centrally located in Fuzimiao, very clean and very friendly staff. The boutique hotel is amazingly enclaved into the Fuzimiao touristic spot, with a back door to the courtyard.
