Something important to mention is that the map location on booking.com didn't correspond with the actual location of the hotel I stayed in! so this is something to double check and rectify! Beihai old town was fantastic and shopping for pearls and eating out was wonderful-there are beautiful souvenirs, great food and architecture and it is the best place to buy pearls (bracelets, rings, necklaces, broaches etc...) A trip to the nearby Weizhou island is quite the treat but the actual beaches in Beihai seem to get way too/ridiculously crowded in the Summer and seem to be in a state of development with lots of construction taking place next to them!

The beach is big but pretty dirty and full of plastic because chinese people throw away their trash on the floor wherever they are including throwing their cigarettes into the water. Also they were renting some kinds of motor cars so people can drive around on the beach which makes the beach less attractive. The old street is nice to walk around. Around the Beibuwan Square you find many stores and restaurants. I would say 2 days are enough. Moving around by bus was really easy but keep in mind the time of the last bus. One time we missed the last one at 21:00 and went home to the hotel by Didi (chinese kind of Uber). Lots of seafood restaurants.

The outdoor pool area was great and the children loved it. I enjoyed the cool temperature of the Health Club pool and also the view of the beach from there. Location was excellent for beach days, literally across the road. Breakfast buffet was really good, diverse range of dishes. I also ordered from the room service menu and the food was tasty and delivered promptly. The design of the hotel was elegant and made for a pleasant experience.

A very nice hotel, located on an island, it's one of the few villa-style hotels, very private, excellent front desk service, they speak English and arrange everything well. The restaurant serves delicious food, and we really enjoyed the seafood feast! Delicious and fresh! The hotel offers many activities, and we went yachting to chase the sunset – what an amazing experience. We will definitely come back!
