Pros
- The beaches would be among the best in the world.
- Greenery
- Nature attractions/urban wildlife
- Improvements on waterfront world class
- Beach walkway from Town to Lighthouse beach amazing.
Cons
- Roads are simply appalling in many places, just pothole covers holding hands and a should be a real embarrassment to local council, though looks in places they have started fixing the problem
- High elderly and low socio-economic population, kind of depressing local population
- Population/development explosion, high rents and tariffs
- Lots of hoons and bogans, exercise vigilance late at night
- Increasingly visible homeless problem
- Town is over promoted and exploited, certainly not a place to "get away from it all" anymore, its got plenty of what you came to escape, best to come outside of public and school holidays, always some pesky "festival" or event going on blocking roads and causing chaos
- Not a quaint fishing/holiday destination anymore
- If you strike a "Red Weed" season on your holiday, any beach-river activities are ruined.
-Service in most establishments is terrible

Happy and helpful staff at motel and EI restaurant.
Happy and helpful staff at motel and EI restaurant. The comfiest bed 🫠 you could ask for and walking distance to river, beach, restaurants and shopping centre. Given Free coffees upon book in for breakfast was a lovely bonus. 😊
Only disappointment was upgraded to balcony for the treat of the view of the river as shown in picture. We had a view of a car park. 😟

The Bowling Club was located at the back of the apartment building and only a short stroll away. Perfect place for dinner. Also love the restaurant at Westport for dinner. We have been there numerous times and never disappointed.
We have stayed in PM numerous times and always love coming back. Great accommodation, walks, beach and cafes. The Sea Acres Rainforest is definitely worth a visit and the food at the Cafe is lovely.

Nice Getaway.
Nice Getaway.
You can do Jet Ski at $240 per hour, and can swap drivers.
Sea Plane ride was good, but not comfortable.
Book a day in advance else you have to come back next day.
One thing is food is expensive in the place.

Vibrant town centre with lots of restaurants and harbour/ estuary views. Great beaches and walks up to the lighthouse at Tacking Point. Must-do staging point if travelling by car between Brisbane and Sydney. Glad we stayed 2 nights rather than 1.

Parking in the centre of Port Macquarie was in very short...
Parking in the centre of Port Macquarie was in very short supply.
Bikes being ridden on the breakwater path was dangerous.
The gentleman cleaning tables and seats on the boardwalk is doing a great and friendly service for the tourists.
Convenient drive to beaches and town, though far more responsive Flynn's Beach accommodation is available slightly cheaper one street away at a higher standard offering much more responsiveness to messages and phone calls re: check-in, key collection questions we had, means I'd chose them over this accommodation next time I'm in Port Macquarie, once a month.
Reasonably priced room for the facilities, good location, close to a park where I could go for a run. I did have to drive into Port Macquarie CBD to get stuff to eat and drink but wasn't that much of a problem since the place was at least half the cost of most of the accommodations closer to the CBD.
We love holidaying in Port Macquarie, my husband and I have been coming there for the last 47 years. We have stayed at Macquarie Waters many times to celebrate our anniversary because its comfortable and so close to everything. Macquarie Waters has become our favourite hotel in Port.
Property was clean & comfortable. it was conveniently located to town and the the beach. The hosts were very friendly and accommodating. I would gladly stay at Beach House Holiday Apartments again & have no hesitation in recommending to anyone staying in Port Macquarie.
Great location. Straight across from the beach and easy walk down town to restaurants and shops. It was so good to find a hotel that is doggy friendly too. It was the biggest reason we chose to stay at Ibis Styles as they allowed our pet to stay with us as well.
Location was great. We were only doing an overnighter and can't see this place as being suitable for long stays. When booking we had a choice of this being the cheapest or the more expensive places as there wasn't much available.
Budget hotel in a great location in Port Macquarie. Staff is friendly, there is adequate parking and a nice pool. Easy to find on the map. Very good shower, and room service did a good job.
The rooms were very clean and comfortable, the staff were very friendly and helpful and the parking on site was very good value. The hotel is located near many great shops and food places.
great caring staff, great variety In breakfast and perfect location close to beach and all amenities. the property is well maintained for its age. I became a Rydges member straight away.
The place was busy as its a hotel on arrival. The manager who served us was professional, polite & was interested where we were from & why we were visiting Port Macquarie.
The location is so convenient. The staff in all positions were extremely friendly (the best we've experienced for some time). Parking was cheap. Great hotel.
Wonderful old hotel, plenty of room and comfy beds. Nice and clean and a great quiet location. Highly recommended for a quick stopover or a short break.
