Larger country town with great facilities and many sightseeing options. Close to one Australia's great wine regions. Many accommodation choices available to suit all budgets. And of course it has the Blue Lake.

Such a pretty town with so many lovely houses and building. Lovely history to the place. Great vibe in the town centre with cafes and pubs and community. Lots to see and do with all the sinkholes, lakes and proximity to Coonawarra and Port MacDonell beaches

For a big town it lacked a choice of restaurants, we arrived quite late as travelling and nothing was open in town. Actually felt like a ghost town.
Good place to stop if travelling ocean road but only need one night there!
The Barns where we stayed had a good restaurant that was still open but is 20 min drive from town centre.

Beautiful historic town with famous landmarks, such as the volcanic crater lake (Blue Lake) and the Umpherston Sinkhole and sunken gardens. Very walkable town with lots of boutique shops, restaurants and coffee houses.

Much to see and do within a 100km radius of the city.
Much to see and do within a 100km radius of the city. It is a pity the the Princess Margaret Rose Cave is currently shut and there is no indication about a reopening date. The expected date (End of 2023) is now history. Direction signs should carry this information. Naracoorte Caves excellent. Get directions to "Hells Hole" and go for a short walk, Be amazed! Visitor centre is very helpful. If you are reasonably fit climb Mt Schank and walk the rim of an dormant volcano.

Despite the amazing natural attractions (especially the Blue Lake which is resplendent at this time of year), Mount Gambier seems to be revelling in past glories and much of the tourist infrastructure appears dated and run-down. Even the 'attractions' sign as you drive into town is peeling and faded...
We really enjoyed our stay in the Farmhouse. We had 4 separate bedrooms and full kitchen, laundry, lounge and dining rooms. The accommodation was spotlessly clean and heating was on for our arrival as it was very cold on the evening we arrived. Our boys enjoyed playing soccer in the back yard. We all enjoyed Christmas Dinner in the hotel restaurant the food quality was great and service attentive. Thank you to the Barn team for looking after our family on Christmas night. We would have liked to stay longer.
Room was spacious, clean and comfortable, in particular the bed. Menu, not too many choices but covered most requirements, food was good, maybe a little on the expensive side. The most impressive part of my stay was the no fuss check in and check out. Not like most motels that want every possible detail, simple checkout with the offer to email the receipt.
Central to everything.
Good ventilation (sliding door and window) allowed the breeze to go through the room.
Easy to book for breakfast etc, pretty good choices- granola is fab.
Staff very accommodating re a late check out we needed whilst waiting to move to their sister motel due to our circumstances changing unexpectedly.
Great hotel, at a good location. Restaurant and bar within the property made it convenient. Walking distance to market and key supermarkets. Nice sized rooms and modern amenities within the rooms. The breakfast, shared kitchen with all its amenities was a bonus.
The hotel is in a prime position being right on the main street in Mt Gambier, surrounded by nice shops and food places. The room itself was very spacious with fun decor. The bar also had delicious food for dinner (highly recommend the fish and chips!)
The room was small and compact and very clean. I liked the location as in proximity to Mount Gambier. I also liked the hotel being on top of a hill with very nice views. I could visit Mt Gambier and walked around Blue Lake. The bed was really comfy.
The motel looked very run down from the outside but inside the room was very spacious and clean. It had a very comfortable king size bed. The room was much better than the outside appearance and I would stay there again. The staff were helpful
1. This motel has best location. All tourist spots are nearby.
2. You can Park your car in front of your room and take your luggage easily.
3. Found bed, tables, cupboards, cutlery and other stuff good.
It was a budget hotell and provided exactly what I would expect from one. The bed was good and the facilities were very clean. Kitchen crockery and cutlery was sufficient.
Original “hotel” and beautiful building
Do not expect high confort but good enough
Owner and very responsive
Great info about the jail within the property
Easy walk to main commercial area.
Enjoyed dinner at the hotel.
Excellent value for money.
We went to a nearby excellent cafe Presto for a fab breakfast.
