Now, we were there for work, and I managed to get sick, so I missed out on a few attractions, but Coona seems like a nice, friendly town. My family managed to get to see one of the observatories, and see some of the planets in real life, including Saturn's rings, so they were absolutely stoked. Apparently a new telescope will be operating there soon, with even better views.

Good sized town with lots of accommodation options.
Good sized town with lots of accommodation options. Good supermarket in town and options for fuel. Excellent bakery and other food options right in town. Great base for visits to the Warrumbungle NP and the Pilliga Scrub NP. A Dark Sky town with information easily obtained. Felt comfortable walking around town after business hours.

We were only there from the afternoon til next morning, but would like to return. The new female manager is very friendly, helpful and competent. Room very clean and comfortable . Manager delivered a tray with complimentary breakfast to our room and allowed me to dry wet bathers and towels in the commercial drier. The gardens looked good but unfortunately we did not have enough time to sit and enjoy
that.
It was my first experience of an BnB for a long while now, and Langley's host did an awesome job. There were 4 rooms in the Cottage, once Coonabarabran's private hospital, and the twin room was perfect for my son and I who passed the night while on the Newell Highway. Guests shared the bathroom, kitchen and lounge room. Cook your own brekkie - host supplied bacon, eggs, bread, fruit, yoghurt, milk, juice, etc. Parking was allowed in the back yard which meant my car wasn't kept at the kerbside.
Restaurant, service and room were all quite good for a budget hotel option. Location very central and handy. Good shower , closed in verandah and very good communal kitchen facility with full sized fridge and all necessities. Pleasant, private & quiet lounge near rooms. Spacious toilet and shower room with plentiful hot water from a large shiwer head.
The room and bathroom were very clean. There were plenty of bathroom amenities supplied. Beautiful Bath Sheets and face washers. Good quality bed linen and a very large comfortable bed. Easy walking distance to clubs, pubs, and shops. I would recommend this to anyone wanting to book accommodation in Coonabarabran it is by far the best motel in town.
The room was a good size, the bed was very comfortable and the bathroom was functional. Access and parking was very good. Although there are not many restaurants in town they are all an easy walk from the hotel and local food was very good. There is a large Woolworths shop within 500 meters from the hotel and the National Park is an easy drive away.
Perfect distance between Coonabarabran and the Warrumbungles. The pool was great in the hot weather. Nice property to walk around and nice open sky views at night.
There were some let downs but this place is ideally located and we might stay here again. Hopefully the management fix the issues we encountered.
Despite the central location, The Imperial Hotel was very quiet at night. The rooms are minimalistic but comfortable - including the bed. The water pressure and shower head in the shower was good. The lounge area and kitchen was a nice touch - including a large fridge for storage.
The staff had no problem with us bringing a dog, we were asked not to leave our K9 unattended, a perfectly reasonable request. The hotel is ok. BBQ area available. The air conditioner works well and we had plenty of hot water. Enough open space to walk the dog and play fetch.
Clean and tidy older style motel right on the main road at Coonabarabran. Close to the shops, service station and a wonderful Chinese restaurant. The room itself is ordinary but perfectly serviceable for a night or two.
A new bathroom and the bed was very comfortable. The room was very clean and well kept and was the right size for me and the wife who in some hotels we stayed in didn't bump into each other.
I come to Coonabarabran once a month or every second month for my doctors and stay here every time always a pleasure and great staff always helpful with late arrivals
