I went to look at nurseries and went to Lambleys Garden and Nursery in Ascot (10 minutes from my hotel in Creswick) and to Diggers St Erth in Blackwood (about 45 minutes East) Both excellent properties and well worth 3 or 4 hours of your time. If you like plants you will buy something. St Erth has a cafe which uses the veggies from their garden - a great place for a late morning tea

Ballarat itself is great with many attractions, parks, cafes, bar’s & restaurants. Currently some works happening that hinders traffic flow & leads to congestion but that’s everywhere I guess.
This hotel is an absolute hidden gem. I cannot believe what a great hotel it is. For families, it would have to be one of the best hotels that I have seen and such good value. The family room was large with 4 beds. There was a sitting area and kitchenette. The facilities though are the best part of this property. There is a free of charge laundry with washing powder, a games room, indoor tennis court, gym, sauna and incredible indoor heated pool and spa. Absolutely fantastic for families.
This is the only place I stay at in Ballarat. The rooms are clean, it's in a great location, it's cheap as chips, it's a no-fuss set-up to check yourself in and out. Love it. Actually moving here for work for the next 3 years but will be recommending this place to anyone visiting. They've even got much better pillows from the last time I stayed here which was literally my only complaint.
Spacious, clean rooms. Nothing fancy, but a handy location. Plenty of car parking. Grateful to get a room on the ground floor (rather than having to carry luggage upstairs). Lovely couple/family running the hotel. Not the cheapest option, but the rooms are large, there is off street parking, airconditioning and very close to the lake and a supermarket.
Beautifully restored historic hotel in the heart of Ballarat. Nice bar, decent restaurant, trad. comfort rooms. Parking on site - although we had to ask for directions at reception. We ate in the restaurant, decent food, relaxing surroundings. Really enjoyed our stay. Recommended.
We loved Hotel Vera, an exceptional property in a brilliant location - you can walk to all of the facilities in central Ballarat easily. Beautifully curated and designed, and a super comfortable bed. The owners are amazing and can recommend lots of different eating places.
Fantastic room for a family! The pub attached to the hotel is awesome! Kids loved eating both breakfast and dinner there (also with a playground)! Staff fantastic! Would highly recommend! Only a few mins from sovereign hill!
We liked the size of the apartment for our family. The heating was excellent. Plenty of blankets for everyone. The tea/coffee provisions were generous. The included breakfast provisions were handy for the kids too.
A very old hotel, clean and comfortable, It was fine for 1 night, it was cheap so I didn’t expect a lot. There was loud music and patrons downstairs but by the time I got back from a night out it was all over.
Beautifully renovated and tastefully decorated. Warm, inviting and cozy. Perfect for our little family to refresh ourselves. A home away from home. Perfectly located only a short stroll from Ballarat cbd.
The hotel was really lovely, with its beautiful classic style but with modern comforts. The breakfast was also delicious and staff friendly and helpful. It was conveniently located in the centre of town.
The apartment was clean + although on the train line side was quiet. Staff were polite + helpful. Would stay again. Ballarat is freezing in winter but quest hotels are warm + beds comfortable.
Stayed one night for weekend visit with family. Clean and simple apartment with a lock box to get keys. Great location for Sovereign Hill meant we could be there at opening time the next day.
Location excellent. All staff were friendly & helpful! Food at restaurant was excellent! Ambience of hotel was excellent. We would definitely stay at Oscars next time we come to Ballarat.
