I only used Mae Sot as a hub to travel around to several mountain villages in the area. However, Mae Sot itself has something for everybody. The local cuisine is excellent and the people very friendly. I loved eating the readily available barbeque and the abundant locally owned coffee shops. Robison Center was a short eight-minute walk from where we stayed (Picture Book Guesthouse) where there was also a wide assortment of places to eat.

Mae Sot is perfect place to meet nature and spend some time with local thais. People are friendly and you can buy water on pretty every corner there. It was really great experience to visit this place and definitely I would visit it again! Make sure to bring your own internet, because there is very small areas with free wi-fi.

Nice city. Plenty of bargain shopping markets and areas.
Nice city. Plenty of bargain shopping markets and areas. Great outdoor food. Lovely waterfalls near the city. Nice sights around the city. The road from Mae Sot to Tak through the mountains is quite hilly but a beautiful drive.

I loved the exposure to so many different groups within the Thai culture with each group influencing their own area from the temples, mosques and restaurants. Negotiating the streets is rather tricky in some parts with the absence of sidewalks. The amount of stray dogs was disheartening. I spent most of my time at the school I was visiting and found the staff and students the most delightful and amiable of people. The sightseeing trips around Mae Sot were amazing and this is a gem of a place to visit. The veil of the tourist is torn away and the authentic Thailand is revealed.

This is really not a tourist spot.
This is really not a tourist spot. Apparently the only reason an international airport being set up there is for its proximity to the casinos just over the Burmese border. Not much to do or see for other types of tourists, very much a suburban centre that has all you need but little more.
The acoustic bar out front of the Hop Inn has decent western food and there is a cool Canadian outlet in the centre of town too. 100 baht gets you anywhere in a taxi
This is a beautiful hotel, an oasis in fact in Mae Sot. The staff were welcoming and very friendly throughout our stay. The room was nice, with comfy beds and great water pressure in the shower. The breakfast is delicious with lots of choices of Thai and foreign breakfast. The pool was really nice and clean, they had a nice shallow pool at one end that was perfect for children to enjoy. The restaurant and cafe served delicious meals too.
We really enjoyed our time at the commune. Mike is very nice and really seems to enjoy hospitality! we stayed in the tents and it was comfortable for a camping option! we shared a meal with everyone staying there, and Mae Sot is an interesting place to explore! We highly recommend staying here and would love to come back if ever in this area!
Located at the centre of city and many shops, cafe are nearby. The hotel itself has an excellent restaurant. Room was clean and quite large, AC was great. The swimming pool looks cool though didn't swim. Breakfast has great deal of choices. And, the view of mountains was awesome.
Kind and helpful staff always ready to support.
Delicious food at the hotel's restaurant (highly recommend curry puffs).
Really nice room #1 is so bright and spacious with scenery sunset view 🥰
Great internet connection.
The staff was very friendly and helpful. We arrived very late at the hotel. The kitchen was closed, but they fixed us a simple meal anyway. This was much appreciated! The owner drove us to the busstation the next day.
Hotel was good but breakfast was poor eggs cold and hot dog cold and didnt put out toast salad ..
I will not stop in any Hop lnn again..poor value for money
Great Hotel - with a lovely large swimming pool, good breakfast and opposite the large Robinson Shopping Centre that has many food and shopping options.
