The town has a great market and walking along the riverside is fun. There is not much action on Grab/PassApp, but everything in town is walkable anyway.
The dolphin boat ride was beautiful and exciting! The locals seem to really care about the dolphins and the boat driver knew exactly where to find them.
I don't usually go on tours but I am glad I went on one in Kratie. There are some neat things around the area that we never have discovered by just looking at the map. I would recommend hiring a local guide to take you.

Lovely city, we stayed there on our way to Sen Monorom and I am pleased we stopped there. We went to see the dolphins and the temple on the hill. We also went to the island with the boat, it was great as there were a lot of people due to a holiday. It's not a big city, so it's easy to get around by foot. People are very friendly.

Spend 1 or 2 days in Kratie to kayak and see the dolphins.
Spend 1 or 2 days in Kratie to kayak and see the dolphins. The route down the river to the dolphin sighting area is simply gorgeous. Do stay at the Silver Dolphin Guesthouse and Restaurant as their rooms are value-for-money and their food is great. Make sure you engage Dolphin Kayaking Adventures as the guide, Lucky, is very friendly and experienced. You will definitely get to see Dolphins and much more if you sign up for his tour.

Kratie is like the river city that tourists have forgotten which adds to appeal as you are often not within sight of other tourists besides close to the hotels. Next time we'll spend more time at Koh Trong!!

If you want to have restful holidays and be nearer to nature...
If you want to have restful holidays and be nearer to nature, Kratie is one of the right places to go in Cambodia. The Irrwaddy dolphins are elusive and rare some days, but other days you can really enjoy and take good pictures.
This is a fantastic Guesthouse with really nice staff. The room was comfortable and well-furnished with options of fan and air-con. The food is great or there are a few places to eat nearby. It's close to Sorya kayaking for seeing the dolphins but a better value place to stay. The shared bathrooms were clean though worth mentioning showers cold and toilet tissue wasn't always stocked up. This was one of the best places we stayed in Cambodia.
Pool is reasonably clean and well maintained. We are one of the few first guests since the pandemic. The room is good size, big enough for our family to share. The staffs are brilliant, super friendly and very helpful, they help to organize the trip to see the river dolphin as well as our transport back to Phnom Penh. The restaurant is great, we spent lengthy time there, food as surprisingly good, and the happy hour is awesome.
A beautiful idyllic resort with charming wooden villas and very friendly, helpful staff. Remote location on the tip of the island is a perfect get a away despite a little challenging to get too without any instructions given by hotel.
Despite challenges, really enjoyed the stay....the discounted rates make it value for money at this time. They will need to fix the issues to be able to charge their usual rates again.
Le Tonle is a Training-Hotel, where young staff get their practical education in Hotellerie. They are exceptionally attentive, friendly and motivated.
Le Tonle has shifted, from a Side-Land to the road right at the riverfront. So, from the common balcony on every floor you get beautiful views on the Mekong. Especially in the evening, the sunset-view is spectacular.
All together a completely pleasant stay.
What a great Guesthouse! We extended our stay and had two different rooms. both of which were really comfortable and clean. The restaurant and bar upstairs is the perfect addition and the food is great and reasonable.
The staff are professional and helpful and they offer kayak trips to see the dolphins. They are also arrange mini vans to various places; we moved onto PP and the driver was really safe.
Really good place to meet people. The owner organised my dolphin kayaking, bus and bicycle rental. The food in the restaurant was good and the owners were nice to talk to. The room was comfortable and for a really cheap price. The sunrise and sunset views over the river were amazing
The room was essential but very clean. You have everything you need.
The Guesthouse can provide nice breakfast, lunch and dinner and cocktails at fare prices.
They also provide the only authorised kayaking tour on the Mekong for dolphins watching.
The staff is really nice.
Very confortable room with nice view and good location.
Very nice rooftop restaurant, good place to chill and good food.
Kayaking tour to see dolphins was very nice but not so easy… be sure that your know how to paddle well, how to manage the direction.
The hotel occupies a fabulous renovated 1940s building in the center of town - - the architecture and vintage decor evoke the mystique of the colonial period. The rooftop bar is perfect for enjoying the sunset. The owner and staff were very welcoming.
Wonderful location and delicious food! - we had a lot of fun! Renting motorbikes to discover the island! Spending your time in the resort was Sonntag much more fun, then trying to watch the Mekong dolphins! Highly recommended!
Fantastic open air restaurant and bar overlooking the Mekong. Great staff. They organize great kayaking trips to see the dolphins and this was definitely worth it. They also have bikes for rent.
We loved the lush green environment and the villas. It is on an island and it is a little effort to get to the hotel via ferry and motorbike/tuktuk but it is well worth!
Large, very clean room. Comfortable beds.
Small bathroom.
Nice open spaces and balconies in hotel to hang out but very hot.
Staff were very responsive and welcoming.
Beautiful stylish hotel set in the middle of a vibrant market. Alex the owner is a lovely guy who makes everyone feel very welcome. Very memorable stay.
