Central location, friendly staff, pool and value for money
Not one of the top travel spots yet. Battambang town doesn't stand out as anything special compared to other places in Cambodia. It doesn't really have anything special, and is very dusty all around.
However, it is ideal for a day trip (max 2 nights) from Siem Reap if you have time.
There are unique experiences that are on the outskirts of town :
1/ Bamboo Train (touristy but still good enough. especially if you can manage to beat the tourist vans in the morning, then it's just you on the train (train ride is about 15 mins each way)
2/ Killing Caves (get there at about 4-430pm, stay for about 30 mins)
3/Bat cave (super cool experience, stay there only for about 30 mins max in the evening

Gave a good feeling of real-life in Cambodia, away from the tourist crowds. The town has a fine old french colonade along the river. Very beautiful. The local market is worth a visit.
Highly interesting are the temples in the surroundings, ex the Banan temple. A visit to some of the commemoration sites also outside the town showing the cruelty of the Khmer Rouge in the nineteen seventies, is a must not to forget what happended.

Just enjoy it!

I homestayed with the O'hamok family - incredible real Cambodian experience. We toured at my pace, I have never experienced this level of relaxation throughout my travels. I only wished I could speak Khmer and or French so that I could have contributed more to conversations but we got by easily with english.

Is a small city, the city centre isn't as described in the traveller guides.
Don't expect a lot of restaurants in the centre.
We would like to recommend Nary's Kitchen for a very nice diner.
The bamboo train is fun, for the rest we did a tour around the city to visit some temples, killing fields and local eating experiences as sticky rice
The local museum is currently closed for renovation
These are private ROOMS! They are separated by doors, walls and ceilings! When I booked I was concerned that I would hear other guests…but as they are completely private lockable rooms, I extended my stay as I was pleasantly surprised. Amazing staff, great vibe. The bar opposite plays music but you cannot hear it once in the room. Many people staying at local hotels came here for the vibe!! Also for the arranged tours! Onward bus connection tickets can be bought here for Thailand and Vietnam.
Great hotel for our short stay in Battambang. The staff was very friendly and thoughtful even though their english was limited. we were greeted with nice sweet pineapples when we checked in! the room is super clean (despite what some comments said…) and functional, and the bathroom was big and spacious (+ hot water if that’s important for you)
We were given the opportunity to leave our bags at the reception after check out which was very convenient!
The hotel was exceptional. The room was large and comfortable. The staff were polite, friendly and really helpful. The overnight bus to Battambang arrived 3 hours early and we found ourselves with nowhere to go at 2.30am but the staff didn't mind us turning up at this time and even helped us book an extra night so we could sleep for a bit too. The breakfast was excellent and the location was just across the river from the town centre.
I stayed here with my close friend and we absolutely loved the Place hostel! All the staff members are incredibly kind and welcoming and did a wonderful job at showing us a large selection of different tours to do in Battambang. The crowd here is mostly young 20-year-olds and the hostel does a great job at making a social environment such as their lovely rooftop bar for a reasonable price. Overall, it was a wonderful experience.
Great hostel with big double bed in dorm room. Super friendly staff who organised our onwards bus and full day tour of Battambang with a local guide called Yo who I cannot recommend enough for you to ask for him, he gives a personal account of the history of Cambodia while visiting the monuments, killing fields and cave, local food, everything. The breakfast at the hostel was also amazing and for only 3 USD you get a lot.
It's certainly different of any guesthouse/hotel, I've ever stayed in. I'd the best sleep in days due to the peaceful and quiet location. No cars or motorbikes' noise. But what really makes this place great is the owner. He goes out of his way to help you in anything you need. He's the kindest person I met in Cambodia. I would come back again.
I've been staying at this hotel a few times before and I like that is well situated right next to the central market (Psar Nat) and the many restaurants and cafes and shops. Next door to the Royal hotel is the Hope of Blind Seeing Hands Massage which we went and they were really good. Our bed was really comfortable and we slept soundly.
A very nice option in the outskirt of Battambang, surrounded by greeneries, in a quiet area. The whole hotel is well-designed, well-maintained, and the staff is efficient, reactive and friendly. The rooms by the pound are beautiful, and the swimming pool is perfect. Several options of breakfasts with fresh bakeries.
We stayed just one night but the hotel is nice, the room was comfortable. It also has a beautiful swimming pool but we didn't have time to use it. The manager of the hotel was very friendly and helpful, he could speak good English, which is not that common in Cambodia. The location is good, in a quiet road.
A real boutique hotel gem, in traditional Khmer style. If you are looking for authentic experience this is your choice in Battambang, the owners and staff were simply great and it felt like being an home guest. Cuisine is excellent and we were also invited to their Christmas Eve dinner next to the pool.
Everything! it was a pleasure staying at this property. The photos really don’t do justice to the beauty of the hotel. It has an atmosphere of zen and the management and staff go out of the way to help you.
We agree with previous reviews! Every detail in the hotel was thought through and pleasing.
Very nice and super charming hotel with a vintage vibe! The rooms are super big for today's standards, the hotel has a nice patio with restaurant, which had awesome food.
The building has an old colonial style, actually is a little bit run down, but that makes it even more interesting :-)
The place is filled with trees and plants. You can hear the sound of the birds and feel at peace. The property interior is designed as a traditional Cambodian room. The service of the staff is amazing and everyone is very friendly and helpful.
- good location near bus station and short enough walk from main part of town
- booked a tour to bat cave & bamboo for good price at hotel
- took an aircon room and definitely recommend, worked very well and it’s very hot in Battambang
pretty little resort with nice swimming pool and fine rooms. breakfast / reception area and staff are good. beds are a bit hard but they are big and comfortable.
Can't fault the hotel at all. Spacious bedroom, huge balcony in a quiet area.
Big and well-kept swimming pool.
Definitely recommend and will stay here again.
