We had an interior room. It was very quiet, firm mattress, an actual shower (with door), and great breakfast. Enjoyed our stay, but it was a little more expensive than comparable places.

A cozy guest house run by the sweetest and most genuine family. They were able to arrange many things for us as well, like motorbike rentals, breakfast, and transportation. They were also very happy to give tips on where to go and what to do. I was even invited to join their family and friends for Laotian hot pot one evening. This was an experience you can’t even pay for. Their hospitality and concern for guests goes above and beyond.

Clean, receptionist available at all times, very nice staff. Helped me with a ticket to Savannakhet at a good price and relatively comfortable van. Good Wi-Fi.
Unfortunately I was only in Pakse for 1 night. The city has lots to do and lots to offer, however isn’t the most aesthetically pleasing. Many come here to do the Pakse loop which is supposed to be great.

I have been to Pakse a number of times, it backs onto the majestic Mekong River. I can thoroughly recommend both the Champasak Grand Hotel and the Pakse Hotel. There is a lovely market located in the centre of the town where you can buy nearly anything.

Decent restaurants and good to get convenience items, but not much to do directly in the town. Good hub for day-trips via motorcycle or tour, but expect to get really dirty if you do them via motorcycle as only the very largest of the main roads are paved outside of the town.
Not much nature nearby, all flat areas have been cleared and converted to farmland. It takes a bit of work to get to areas with a bit of nature, but it's nice once you do so. Once you're out of the town the small villages vary from somewhat picturesque and mostly traditional to modern cement. Definitely worth exploring the countryside via motorcycle.
Waterfalls are nice, but can be a bit crowded (by local standards).

We chose the more expensive 4,000 island tour expecting to see more. We spent 5 minutes at 2 waterfalls, which are impressive, in an 11 hour day and that was it! The rest of the day, 10hrs and 50 minutes was spent waiting for, or sitting on, old buses and vans.
The much cheaper Bolonan plateau would have shown us villages, crafts and agriculture and been much better.

There is not much to see in Pakse itself.
There is not much to see in Pakse itself. However, it makes a good base from which to explore Southern Laos. The Bolavan Plateau is nearby for scenery and waterfalls. The Wat Phu temple complex near Champasak is a short distance away. There are some good bars/restaurants (including budget options) if you need somewhere to eat and drink on an evening. It is worth going to the Daolin, Xuan Mai or Sanga (ground floor of the Sanga hostel) restaurants if you want something on the cheaper side. Se Se Wine and Beer is a good place for somewhere to drink but their food choice is a bit limited. A lot of people seem to rate Dok Mai Lao (an Italian restaurant) but was not that impressed with it when I went - maybe I chose the wrong thing as the pizzas looked good. The Immigration Office is in Pakse, near the market in the centre, if you need to extend your visa. However, bear in mind it is only open for limited hours Monday to Friday. I was told to be there for 2pm.
First things first I have to highlight how fantastic and hard working the hosts Tina and Dan are! Tina is friendly and entertaining but also a big help when it comes to recommendations, onward travel and SIM cards etc. The guesthouse is a relaxed space where you can chill out in the courtyard and a speaker is provided for you to listen to your own music if you like. The rooms are big and clean space, comfy too and good air con. We intended on staying one night but came back for another during a stop over in Pakse due to the great hospitality!
Tina, the manager, is incredibly helpful and always there to assist and guide with anything I need. Abu Bakar, one of the staff members, is very knowledgeable about the area and is always available to help book tuktuks or taxis. I even felt comfortable asking about the safest way to return to the hotel late at night. Tina even gave me access to the kitchen and offered me free food, which made me feel right at home. The mattresses in the room are so comfortable, which isn't always the case in other places I've stayed in Laos.
I will start by saying that the owner of the resort is simply amazing. Ngoc is very helpful, and an amazing cook. She was able to assist us with many things, bus, scooter renting. The place is very nice even if not in the city center, but to be honest that did not affect us at all, also because Ngoc is always available and can contact a tuk tuk for you. I definitely recommend the place and I hope to go back soon to enjoy the rice soup in the morning for breakfast in the beautiful garden.
Beautiful and peaceful property on the outskirts of Pakse. Ngoc is very friendly and helpful. She offers free water refill, cooking class (which we struggled to find in Laos), money exchange, booking transport and can arrange a Bolaven tour (we very highly recommend, driver is very friendly and knowledgeable, great day out!). She also has a tuk tuk driver she can call to take you into Pakse center which was very helpful. We enjoyed our stay and ended up extending. Thank you Ngoc!
The staff was nice and even helped us to book a stay at a homestay on the Bolaven Plateau, which we couldn't contact without a lao sim card. We could also rent a scooter with them, book the bus to Thakhek and leave our big luggage at the hostel for 3 days while we stayed on the Bolaven Plateau. The double room was clean and quiet, too. In the entrance hall there is a pool table for free use. In the street there are many food stalls in the evening.
was in a perfect location, and Xavier and his Wife were the best hosts. The room was also lovely and clean and the bed was very comfy! They sorted our motorbike rental in advanced for the pakse loop and gave us lots of information for it. They let us leave our bags while we did the loop and even did our washing for us whilst we were away! The breakfast was also amazing and some of the best fresh bread we have had in Laos
Such a lovely place and such a lovely staff! Breakfast was delicious and filling. Coffee, Water and Tea are provided for free all the time. Rooms were spacious and clean. We left our bags for a night and took shower after we got back from the loop. The owner even gave us a lift to the Bus Station when we were leaving Pakse... The service was just outstanding!
Very friendly and helpful owners. I just spent 1 night there, but it really felt homey and it was easy to connect with other travelers. There're shops and restaurants nearby, and the guesthouse is also about to launch its own yummy menu. If you're in the area, it's definitely a great choice for a couple of budget nights in a welcoming and warm atmosphere.
Room is clean, and those beds in room are large and comfortable
Bathrooms are hygiene
Staff are warm hospitality.
Owner kindly invite me to have Laos foods dinner with them
The location is in center of Pakse so that you can easily travel around, especially in the afternoon you can enjoy sunset on Mekong delta river.
The location is excellent - very close to the bus station and several great restaurants. The Hostel is super clean, all staff are very friendly and helpful. Staff arranged our ticket onward for a better price than the hotel around the corner. We can recommend it, but wouldn't want to stay in the room we had.
Amazing hostel. So comfortable. Great food. Lovely staff, especially Luang who literally helped with everything such as renting bikes and buses, reccomendations. Hopefully more people start coming to Pakse and Sanga in the future as Pakse is a little quiet at the moment but so is most of Laos for tourists!
By far the best hostel I have ever visited. It is clean, beautiful and the owner goes out of the way to help in everything. I even lost the keys yet she was so sweet and declined to accept any money. She helped with bus bookings and the paksey loop. highly recommended 10/10 it is
Rooms near the pool.
Good sized rooms.
Quiet hotel and area.
Staff very helpful
Basic breakfast provided.
No kettle in room but supplied when asked.
Shuttle bus provided into the town centre in evening.
Freedom mall few minutes walk away with some decent eateries during daytime
A beautiful old colonial hotel well managed to an excellent standard. Hotel slowly being refurbished it will take time. Food on rooftop perfect realistic price wines cannot fault anything. Spotlessly clean throughout. Highly recommend. Breakfast outstanding.
Spacious room with a giant bed, balcony and river view. I was very comfortable in the room, the breakfast was decent, the hotel modern. Decent wifi. Moderately priced. Large windows that you can actually open.
