1. The place: an old building dating minimum back to the ottoman era in the same complex of buildings of the Nativity Basilica. It's its own entrance in a traditional compound still inhabited by the family who built it! Really nice to see the neighbourhood isn't gentrified or changed by mass tourism! It doesn't get more authentic! The renovation of the place is perfect ; while keeping the authenticity of these ancient stones it's really comfortable and has all needed features, even a kitchenette! The place is also practical for a business stay like mine for instance I was able to iron my shirt! In add to some little details that makes you feel the passion behind all the work put in, smooth music (BTW the place is acoustic 🤪!!), chocolate bars, Nespresso capsule!!
2.Location: in the heart of the city center And the old city right next to the Nativity Basilica, the feeling of waking up in the old town, having breakfast in a small restaurant is incomparable, also all needed shops, bus stations, ATMs are less than 1 min away literally!!
3.Host: Khader responded right away, I told him i'll be there around five, but had to work late and got to the place at 8! He was patient and comprehensible and even assured his availability for any needed help!
I would definitely book the place for any upcoming trips in Bethlehem!

Owner always answered the phone. Wife met us there and they helped the taxi find the place. They provided key and gave a tour of the apartment. Quiet location. There are a couple of shops close by and is a walking distance to main road to take taxis

Bethlehem is a welcoming and safe city to travel !
Bethlehem is a welcoming and safe city to travel ! It has some local attractions such as the nativity church, mosaic centre, Pro Terra Sancta community centre, market, or just bars and restaurants. The great thing about Bethlehem is that through Palestinian shared taxi services which act like buses you can reach all West Bank sites such as Jericho or Ramallah.

Overall, except the Nativity and St.
Overall, except the Nativity and St. Catherine church, and the areas surroundings Bethlehem which require a taxi (Shepard's field, St. Sava and St. Theodor), there is not much to see there. I initially went by mistake to an area which is a refugee camp, called Aida Camp. This was not the safest experience for a solo woman traveller especially if coming at the evening, if taxi dropping you at different location (at the checkpoint), provided incorrect information by the guesthouse staff in terms of safety, staff not at the guesthouse location at the time of arrival and upset that you are upset that you had to wait two hours in cold weather, in the evening at the doorsteps of the guesthouse. At last, I felt extremely unsafe, especially after the reception staff whom I had to wait for two hours outside at the doorsteps was "sensitive" when I was telling him how upset I was. Scary experience... Please be mindful when you book the guesthouse... Unless you look for a refugee camp experience...

We felt very safe. Plan to return.
We felt very safe. Plan to return. We found in Manger Square the best deals on olive wood. The people were so nice. Some things are made in China and others not. Did not like the kids coming up to us during dinner with gum expecting us to give them money. The restaurants did not either.

I went to Bethlehem during Christmas time, I took a city...
I went to Bethlehem during Christmas time, I took a city tour with a private guide recommended by the staf/ owners of the guest house and he went out of the way to please me on food requests that I had and he was very knowledgeable of the history and the different sites we visited. I couldn't have asked for better weather. The only advice I have is to better travel in slow season, Bethlehem had a sea of tourists and sometimes very difficult to see the important sites.
But the best choice was the Herodium Guest House, owned and managed by a local family, I could have stayed one month with them, very warm, helpful and attentive to your needs! I'll do it again in a heart bit.

Bethlehem was very disappointing.
Bethlehem was very disappointing.
There literally are two historical / religious places, and an insane amount of shops.
After a few hours spent there, I was genuinely stressed out - the amount of taxi drivers stopping me was ridiculous, the amount of sales people stopping me was insane. What’s even worse, they really use people’s kindness and good heart for their own profit.
I would absolutely not come back, nor recommend it.

We visited the Church of Nativity. It has many tourists.
We visited the Church of Nativity. It has many tourists. We were not able to enter the birthplace of Jesus. But it was comforting to note that this is the birthplace of the Savior of the world. Around the manger square there are many restaurants. You can choose what you like to eat. Some of the roads are narrow. It is quite difficult to navigate because of the traffic. It is better tow walk from the hotel. But then climbing up is a challenge for some who are identified as senior citizens. However, it is memorable.
Exceptional hospitality, whereby we were welcomed as guests. The hosts really follow their slogan "you arrive as a guest, you leave as family". The hosts were open and communicative, which brought us nearer to the family and their culture. Thanks to Vera for preparing very tasteful, healthy and varied breakfast and dinner meals! Location was convenient to see most Bethlehem highlights by walking! Thanks again to Vera, Elias and other family members for the great experience!
Incredible arty hotel in an unusual spot, right by the division wall. My room was spacious and nicely decorated with bizarre views of the wall. The hotel has an impressive art gallery and now a new exhibition about the history of the conflict from the Palestinian perspective. Very interesting and enjoyable stay. The lobby bar is also a great spot to hang out over a drink admiring the art pieces all around.
Excellent staff, friendly and helpful. Breakfast was very good, lots of choice. The restaurant has delicious pizzas and salads for lunch and / dinner. The location is exceptional, right by the security wall and away from the tourist quarters where the tour buses load off their passengers. The hotel is an ongoing campaign against the injustice, as a guest you are a part of a work of art. Simply perfect.
The location was perfect, a block from Manger Square. This boutique hotel is an ancient family home that has been thoroughly updated, but the best part was the gracious hospitality of the owner and host, Nabil, who welcomed me and went above and beyond my expectations. The homemade breakfast was amazing -- ask about his family recipe for eggs.
A wonderful discovery right next to Manger square, a delightful house on different levels, with antiques and plants in abundant supply. The warm local welcome ,hospitality from Jack and his wife , plus the homecooking made the bread house an ideal place to stay. Bethlehem is definitely worth spending z night or two in.
The hosts were incredibly nice and they made us feel at home. It was a very authentic experience. The location is central (keep it in mind if you are a light sleeper as there might be some noises from the main street). Overall, it was great and we'll definitely come back if we have the chance to visit Bethlehem again!

Lovely modern guesthouse, large rooms, very close to Manger square, the church of nativity, and old Bethlehem market. Up on the hillside, with views of the Judean hills. Rooftop lounge. Family run business, everyone is so helpful and welcoming. Loved this hotel
My experience in this hotel was absolutely fabulous! Fuad’s father is such a kind person that truly made me feel like I was home. The hotel is very typical, old bricks and stuff but it is also modern and we sleep good. The view from my room was stunning.
Hotel located near the church of nativity which help us reach the center of Bethlehem. Also, the balcony was one of the most enjoyable thing we could search for. However, viewing was not good enough. Room was clean and comfortable.
The property had the best possible location in Bethlehem, literally right in the center of the best attraction. The place itself was perfect in every way. The AC worked great, the bed and the bathroom, everything was excellent.
We love the apartment, its spacious and brand new, clean, super clean, even under the sofa and bed. The property is close to supermarket and restaurants. The host is super lovely, He picked us up from our hotel.
I loved everything about my stay at the Bethlehem City Hostel! It felt like home… The hospitality of Elias and his mom Helda are on another level of greatness! I extended my stay and wished I live there…
There is a beautiful energy in the hostel
Meeting Abu Zakaria the father of Salah was a memory I will take from Bethlehem, (a sage about how to live a happy life) thank you brother 💛🫶🙏
Very nice apartment, very clean and well furnished, with great views of Bethlehem. Location is excellent. Breakfast very tasty and owners very friendly. I had a very confortable stay.
This hotel is truly a treasure. So tastefully decorated, clean and spacious. Staff was super nice and helpful. We would recommend this place to everyone!
