We were greeted by a friendly staff member who was extremely helpful. Parking is right along the road and we easily found a spot. We dropped off our luggage and left immediately for the monasteries to capture them in the beautiful evening light. The room is tight, yet cute. the bed was comfy. The breakfast buffet was nice.

The monasteries are lovely but the public transport (bus) to move around them is limited if you only want to visit one or two. Our time was limited so we took the 9am bus up to the main meteron monastery and walked down to Varlaam and Rossenou (St Barbara) convent. We were finished here by 12 but had to walk back to Kalambaka as there was no bus until 14:30 and we had a bus to catch for our onward journey. We walked down to Kastraki and had a quick bite and walked on to Kalambaka. It was an easy walk and took about 40 mins but this was in April so not too hot.

Kalabaka is a city with traditional houses and Meteora is very close. You can visit some of the monasteries. We went to the museum of physical history with animals and birds that lived there, which was very nice, to the mushroom museum and to the digital projection center of Meteora's history and culture. The food also was excellent.

The monasteries of Meteora are place of spiritual renewal.
The monasteries of Meteora are place of spiritual renewal. The Byzantine art and the historic architecture elevate the soul. I was fortunate enough to half ten minutes alone in the chapels of both the Varlaam and Holy Trinity monasteries in between the flow of tourists and found it to be peaceful and prayerful. The natural scenery of the area, including the sunsets, has no equal anywhere I have been, and watching the sun change the colors of the rocks and the monastery buildings as it set in the west was truly amazing. Kalabaka is a bit built up and a mile or two further away from the rocks. Stay in Kastraki for a really Greek village experience.

Kalambaka is an interesting small town with many restaurants, gift shops, souvenirs shops. But the main attractions are the mountaintop monasteries from the 14-15th century that seem to float as you look up.
Taking a tour is very helpful because you get the history of the area and the monasteries, and you do not have to concentrate on driving.
Don’t forget to visit the Natural History Museum and the Mushroom Museum housed together. We have such respect for mushrooms now!

The hotel was very clean and the rooms were spacious. The breakfast was delicious. The location is perfect to the monasteries. A great mini market next door and delicious restaurant in walking distance named Efrosinos. We drove into town for dinner and ate at Taverna Meteora. After dinner walked down by the shops and found a great linen shop. Antoni was wonderful. Great selection and great prices. This is my second time to his linen shop and he remembered me.

The best hotel we stayed in our 10 day trip to Greece! The people were so amazing and friendly and helpful! We loved the lady who made the breakfast (which was delicious by the way) she was so sweet and friendly we wanted to adopt her to be our yiayia! We didnt have time to use the pool but it looked so cool! Very close to the train station you have to cross the tracks to get there, or you can go around if you have big luggage. Thank you so much for everything!
Excellent hotel. The hotel staff is professional, courteous and welcoming
Mr. Adonis made our whole experience perfect.
We strongly recommend staying at the hotel, full value for money.
A beautifully designed and decorated hotel.
Large, spacious, clean and comfortable rooms.
The breakfast is great and full of goodness.
A spacious and pleasant garden
Amazing view to Meteora.
A short drive to the city and monasteries.
Very worthwhile
Lovely Family-run business. The room was one of the best room I have stayed during my 1 month of travel.
The room is new and modern, clean and tidy. They provide all necessities such as clean towels, shampoo, shower gel, toothbrush, toothpaste, slipper, hair dryer, iron and a safe to keep your valuable.
The room was also really quiet at night. plus, you can just flag down the meteora bus shuttle right outside the hotel!
The hotel was in good location, next to the main street and close to Kalambaka. The room was large, clean, hot, with a lot of facilities. The bed was very comfortable and soft. The ceilings and the walls were decorated very nice. The view was wonderful, you could see Meteora. Breakfast was amazing, healthy with a large variety of products, everything you would expect. The staff was very kind.
This is a lovely hotel in the perfect location to visit Meteora. Staff are very helpful, breakfast is great, it was quiet while we were there and above all - the view from our room and balcony: the unique rocky landscape of Meteora - fantastic! The price we paid was not the cheapest of where we stayed in Greece but overall good value for money, considering what you get for it.
Great location and very nice hotel! Loved the design choices and vibe. The hotel is very modern and clean which was very refreshing after spending time in more rustic areas of Greece. The view was fantastic too! The staff had excellent recommendations for activities in the area outside of visiting the Monasteries(which are of course awesome). We loved the winery recommendation!
Nice hotel in the city centre, ideal for one / two nights or when Meteora is your destination.
Nice staff, elevator, I was surprised by the bathroom amenities (it's on a higher category level), large balcony.
Tasty and very varied breakfast including cakes.
Internet ok, parking is in narrow streets but you could find a spot.
Price / service offered ratio very good.
It has an excellent location and is only minutes walk from the train station, town center (restaurants, shops etc). The reception is outstanding and very helpful and accommodating to us. The breakfast is fantastic and has plenty of options and variety. The price per night is reasonable. I will definitely recommend this hotel when in Kalambaka/ Meteora.
The hotel room is small, but very cozy and with a good view of the mountains. Everything is nearby, the best restaurant, shops, and a tour desk, where we booked an excellent excursion (30 Euros per person) “Watching the sunset at Meteora.” This is an unforgettable place. as if we had visited another planet.
the best for this apartment was the location, its 15 till 20 minutes walked from train station kalampaka and 1 minute to bus station that taking us to go up to monastery, walking about 5 minutes we arrived in city centre with all nice place to eat with view from meteora... what a great property to stay.
The location, view, earthy decor, friendly staff and super comfortable beds. Oikia was the best hotel we have stayed in during our four week vacation in Greece. Early morning hike to Varlaam monastery was amazing!!!
Thank you for the travel tips and complimentary cappuccinos:)
The location was amazing for exploring Kalabaka and Meteora. Dita was very helpful with directions to the hotel from the train station, and the map was a very nice guide to refer to when trying to visit the area and monasteries on your own.
The room was gorgeous, with a nice patio to see the sunset and some of the meteora rocks. Best room we stayed in during our 2.5 weeks in Greece. Clean, spacious, and very comfortable. Ample free parking at the hotel.
Beautifully renovated, spotlessly clean & spacious apartment right in the centre of Kalampaka. Perfect location for visiting the monasteries of Meteora. Free parking nearby. Attentive & kind owner.
Staff were extremely friendly and attentive. they even let us borrow a pair of binoculars for our stay! The breakfast was outstanding, possibly the best I’ve had in a hotel in Greece.
Hotel with fantastic view, very comfortable, staff very friendly. Short distance to Meteora Monasteries. I will gladly come back to this hotel, it is highly recommended.
