Gouves its a village, perhaps not as glamorous as Chania side of Crete but I liked it. Is a bit unpolished, I would say, not with that feeling of drowning under the - all included large hotel complexes and the tourist vulgo that comes with it. Its a more apartments district with greeks coming on vacations too. Plenty of taverns with prices ranging between; main courses 7-14€, drinks 5€ and cocktails 7€, breakfast 5-8€. It also has several Super markets, two of them larger with everything you need. All the above its at walking distance. 10 min with the car or moped from Gouves up inte mountains, you come to smaller villages like Hersonissos with fantastik tavernas and beautiful views.

A charming village, about 15 minutes from Heraqlion by bus (no. 2 from the airport).
Do NOT miss the Asteria taverna next to Lavris hotel: every Sunday and Tuesday a live performance of traditional Greek and Cretan music, with the beautiful Anna teaching Greek dances. It's not a tourist taveran (although there are tourists there of course) but aimed mainly for the locals. We will remember our two visits there as one of our unique experiences in Crete, and no doubt the most enjoable of them.

The day I was in Gouves the beaches were basically nonexistent due to the high tie and was very very windy. Walking along the sea was nice but given the nice beaches the island has to offer I'd rather go somewhere else or at least not stay there for long
Our stay at Villa Mika was amazing.
The villa is super comfortable with all the necessary amenities for our family.
The beach is just 5 minutes away. A super market also so you don't miss anything.
Dimitris and Marilena are great hosts. They are so friendly and always available to answer all our questions l, with many recommendations for restaurants and daily trips on Crete.
Totally recommended!!!!
We will be back for sure.
Thank you for an amazing stay
The beds were very comfy and the bedrooms had lots of storage and space. The outdoor kitchen area was fantastic, loved the fact they had included a fridge. The pool was a great size and the sunloungers were very comfortable. There are so many great things about this villa. It's the best villa we've stayed in. One last thing we loved was it's location a 15 minute walk to Pano Gouves and a 15 minute walk in the other direction to Kato Gouves.
It was such a wonderful stay. The location is perfect - easy to get to from the airport but convenient for trips out around the island. The staff could not have been nicer, especially in the spa where the service was exceptional. Food was varied and excellent. My children (aged 11 and 13) had so much fun at the water park. As a family that tries to find somewhere new every holiday, this is the one resort we would return to again.
Olea suites has an eye for detail, from the smallest design details up until the complete design concept of the garden. The garden was magnificent and as ex-digital nomads we appreciated it a lot. I especially appreciated the fact that the room, being on the ground floor, it was cooler than the rest of the places or any other places we lived on Crete (we went on a longer trip with a few stops).
Absolutely amazing place, it has everything you would need for a comfortable stay. The hosts are the most pleasant and welcoming people on the entire Crete. The apartment has a sea view and the sea itself is within 1 minute by walk. Very cosy area with tavernas, bars, restaurants, shops and ATM are right nearby. I didn’t want to leave, it felt completely like at home and even better!
The staff/owners went above and beyond in their attention as well as should there be any problems they with dealt with ASAP.
As our taxi airport transfer wasn’t due until 1400 hrs they allowed us to check out late obviously this is dealt with a case by case as the hotel occupancy at any one time may effect the possibility.
Great hotel. Great staff and owner and Mrs. Irena. Many thanks to Mrs. Irena and the owner for this wonderful time. Everything was wonderful. The location was great by the sea. Every day everything was clean, the rooms were cleaned, towels changed. We want to return to Crete to Gouves and to this hotel.
Pool and looks of the place were great and staff was very friendly and helpful. Snacks at the pool were great (although greasy) and drinks were amazing. We did enjoy our stay and especially pool area is very nice. I did some many things, but it is a great hotel for chill holiday without children.
Good location, just next to the beach; Good food variety, great pools,, comfortable room + terrace.
Good entertainment for kids in the evenings, though quite repetitive, but also for adults.
Overall a very positive experience for what all inclusive is, very convenient for families with toddlers.
From arrival to departure, everything about the Rena Apartments was excellent. The staff and owners were great and nothing was too much trouble. This place is a definite must to stay around Gouves with easy access to the road networks for exploring the surrounding areas.
The sharing pool was better than we expected.
The room was clean and quiet.
Food was good with many choices, the staff was very helpful regarding food intolerance.
The beach was really close, supermarket and restaurants all walking distance.
Nice hotel setup with some gardens and a good pool area, all not too large. Very friendly and helpful staff, helped finding a place to do the mandatory covid test before flying back home. Very quiet and relaxed atmosphere.
The hotel staff and property were extremely nice. Christina was amazing. She mad the trip great, always made sure we were accommodated. Food was great, nice spacious area with sea views to eat.
Crete, Heraklion Airport, and the Aegean Sea are very good hotels with high cost performance. There is free breakfast and buffet. There are enthusiastic waiters, we will come again.
Amazing and super lovely hosts, I felt like part of the family and very welcomed. Food was great, and their restaurant is one of the most beautiful that I have seen in Greece.
