The guy who was working when we checked in was amazing he made us feel right at home, the real fire in the bar was lovely and we enjoyed the live music, our wee dog was made to feel at home too. Although the kitchen was closed you could go across the road to the sister hotel which had lovely food and was again dog 🐶 friendly. Would stay here again 😁

Ullapool was cute and the views over the water special.
Ullapool was cute and the views over the water special. Interesting watching the ferries leave and come in from the islands. We were very lucky when we were there as the sun was shining and it was warm.

Our first time in Ullapool, but it won't be the last time...
Our first time in Ullapool, but it won't be the last time there and we will definitely stay at "The Wreck" or "The Ruin" on our next trip. The location is right beside the Sea Loch about 1-mile north of Ullapool on the A835 (probably walkable in the longer daylight). On our first night into Ullapool we came across a great "dog friendly" pub/restaurant called The Ceilidh and we liked the place and the friendly staff and a good menu - we ate there each evening.
The houses in Ullapool are laid out in a fishing village style and east to get around ... hunting down the Tesco Food Store was a challenge So i had to use Google Maps (lol).
Sadly, visiting Ullapool in Late February means that many place are closed but there was enough to occupy us, and of course plenty to do in and around the area:
* Ullapool Hill
* The Bothy Cafe every morning (you can sit in too)
* The Ceilidh Pub each night
* Northerly road trips to:
- Scourie Bay
- Balnakeil Bay
- Durness
- Smoo Caves
* Southern and Western road trips to:
- Applecross
- Corrieshalloch Gorge (is a must do)

Ullapool surprised us, it was not as big as we expected but, that is not a negative, it is a beautiful little town. We had the best fish and chips from a take away. We bought books in a lovely book store near the hotel. The people are lovely and friendly. We really enjoyed our stay there in a beautiful hotel.

Ullapool is a quiet and charming village set on a harbour...
Ullapool is a quiet and charming village set on a harbour where the Stornaway Ferry departs twice a day. It is a very picturesque spot. People are very friendly. The Caladonian hotel has a good restaurant and a lovely tearoom for lunches and snacks. There are several places to enjoy local seafood. I stayed at the Millview B&B which was a short walk from the ferry, and walking distance to the local supermarket. It was a great place and Dawn was a terrific host. The room was very clean and nicely decorated. The bed and bedding were very comfortable.

Pretty little village. Gateway to the isles via the ferry.
Pretty little village. Gateway to the isles via the ferry. Locals were friendly. A great outdoor shop (Ullapool Outdoors) with good walking and camping gear at reasonable prices. Not many coffee shops to be had. It has a supermarket which is very useful. Very few other shops. Some lovely eateries. Also a great place to see the surrounding area.

A lovely little town.
A lovely little town. Very helpful staff at the museum, with great tips on how to spend time in the area. As a result got to attend Chicken Day at Elphick! An absolute delight. The Museum itself was very interesting. Loved the bars at the Argyll and at the Ferry Boat Inn.
Thank you, Lochview Guest House, for your prompt action to arrange for our stay at the neighboring B&B! That worked out really well and salvaged our stay in Ullapool. It would have been disastrous if we had been forced to find other lodging on short notice, since there would probably not have been anything available because the neighboring B&B took us in more as a favor to the owner of Lochview Guest House, since their sign indicated that they had no vacancies. Luckily, the owner of Lochview Guest House spared us that trouble.
Staff all lovely. We were warmly welcomed and offered shortbread cookies and a dram of whiskey which was a lovely touch. Check in was quick and easy.
Our room, while small (which I knew on booking) was beautifully decorated and had everythg we needed.
Bed very comfortable.
Shower pressure great and lots of hot water!
Beautiful location with great views and an easy 5 minute stroll into Ullapool.
Breakfast good. Lots of choice. Staff happy to help and very attentive.
This is a hidden gem of a hotel.
Lovely location at end of Ullapool Main Street with beautiful views across the water to the mountains. Fantastic vegan options for dinner in restaurant with view (book a table!). Bedroom was reasonable size with shower that was ok. Hotel kindly provided fan to help keep us cool. USB sockets in room were a bonus. Good thickness curtains kept the room dark for sleeping. Friendly staff topped the experience.
Very friendly staff and allowed me to store my luggage before check-in and after check-out. I last stayed here 15 years ago and it wasn't as nice as it is now. Although there are bunk beds, the mattresses were comfortable. It is the most reasonable in terms of nightly rates to stay in Ullapool now, especially most of the other hotels and B&Bs have put their rates up to about 110%.
Hotel perfectly located just off A835. Great views over Ullapool . A warm friendly welcome and my request for sunshine was granted and the additional request to see an Eagle was granted at 06.50 the following morning ! The breakfast was excellent quality and the choices were top rate making this a top quality hotel and warrants a repeat visit for sure.
The location was okay, with a 15 minute walk into Ullapool. Ullapool itself was rather uninviting, perhaps due to roadworks on the main road, very overpriced e.g £19.99 for fish and chips.
The hotel was very clean and the duvet was particularly soft and comfortable. There was lots of choices of teas and coffees in the room and welcome treats.
The location can’t be beat, with beautiful views over the Loch and just a short walk along the waterfront to the Ullapool downtown. The rooms were clean and spacious and seem to have been recently renovated, there is ample parking and the staff are friendly, welcoming and professional. We had a delicious dinner in the on site restaurant.
This hotel is perfect for a stay in Ullapool. Hosts were friendly and very knowledgeable about the area. Rooms were clean and beds were comfortable. There's a lovely big lounge area to sit if you don't want to sit in the room when you get back. Ullapool is such a lovely place and the surrounding scenery is just gorgeous.
The hotel has plenty of parking and is located centrally in Ullapool near restaurants and shops. We were lucky to have a 'turret' room with a lovely view. Staff were friendly and room was clean and spacious. Everything was done to make us feel safe staying here during current covid restrictions.
This hotel is in a good location if you are using the ferries to the islands. Check-in was straight forward, and the staff were happy, attentive, and good fun. All the staff, from breakfast, to reception, were cheerful and helpful. Breakfast was buffet style, plentiful, and hot.
This is a very nice small hotel on the waterfront in Ullapool. We had no problem getting a parking space outside. The room was small but very comfortable and overlooking the harbour.
We ate dinner in the restaurant which was excellent with some good vegan options.
I would recommend staying at The Arch Inn. I chose it for the location - within a few minutes walk from the ferry and on the waterfront. The staff is quite helpful and the room was very nice. I would stay there again!
The hotel is a 2/3 minute walk from the Main Street of Ullapool which is a pleasant walk through town, The choice of breakfast food was excellent and will cover most people’s need, and the staff were excellent
The hotel was very dog friendly and the staff very welcoming. They even set up a table for us so that our dog could come to breakfast with us. The food was very good and our room very comfortable,
All the personal touches. Beautiful decor and furnishings. Great location just up road from center of Ullapool. view from all windows stunning. Excellent in every way. Would love to stay again!
Chris and her husband were excellent friendly hosts. Lovely clean rooms paired with an excellent breakfast in the morning. Very convenient and a short walk to the main Ullapool waterfront.
Very helpful staff, excellent breakfast, good clean room, very useful drying area for clothes. Great location for ferry transfer from Ullapool and lovely views onto the bay.
