Grianaig Guest House & Restaurant, South Uist, Outer Hebrides, hotel in Lochboisdale

Located between Daliburgh and Askernish you will find Grianaig Guest House & Restaurant. This property offers a large garden with views. The property features free private parking and free WiFi.

A stunning property. We stayed in one of larger bedrooms and it was huge. We had a peek into one of the smaller bedrooms and they were still plenty big enough. The entire property is modern, beautifully decorated with very high quality finishes. Every detail has clearly been thought through, we wanted for nothing. The bed was huge and very, very comfortable. The internet worked very well. The lounge was lovely with excellent tea and coffee facilities, hot chocolate as well. A good range of alcoholic drinks were available for purchase. The included breakfast was excellent with four choices covering all tastes, light, vegetarian, hearty, etc. We had the additional dinner offered for purchase both nights of our stay and it was outstanding, again with four choices to cover all requirements. Chris is an outstanding chef. The hosts were exceptionally friendly and helpful, the property gave us all the privacy we desired, but it was also nice to chat to other guests at times in the lounge, a perfect balance. We visited Barra and Vatersay for the day, the ferry times work out very well, and the property is well situated to enjoy the Uists, or to travel onwards to Harris and Lewis which we did. This is hospitality at its best.

An Taigh Mòr, hotel in Lochboisdale

An Taigh Mòr provides air-conditioned rooms in Eriskay. This beachfront property offers access to free Wifi and free private parking. The bed and breakfast also offers facilities for disabled guests.

From start to finish, An Taigh Mòr was simply spectacular. The room was quiet, spotlessly clean and very well appointed. What a joy it was to sink into that bed at the end of a day of exploring. Breakfast was an event -- one fabulous choice after another and cooked to perfection. There's also a wonderfully comfortable hang out space for guests with snacks, tea and coffee available at all hours. And the views out of the windows and from the patio -- heaven! As if that's not enough, it's Bill and Maggie who are the true stars. They are exceptionally welcoming and make you feel as if you're part of the family. If I could give 15 stars, I would. Highly, highly recommended!

Whoever the owner is of this establishment is he should realise that a manager cannot run the place on his own even in quiet times. The managers approach to his job was perfect and his commitment to the customer was faultless. A person like him could find a job anywhere in the hotel trade these days as their are opportunities by the thousand everywhere. Just shocked to see him serve, clean rooms, do the drinks, serve breakfast and do all the computer work and probably lots of things i could'nt see. Seemed like exploitation to me

The Lochboisdale area was a good base within easy reach (by car) to beaches, the South Uist museum, cafes, the hotel for food (plus local co-op) and lots of walks on Eriskay in the South up to Berneray in the North.

Plenty of local beauty spots to soak up the scenery of South Uist, especially on the west coast as when looking out to sea and you realize the next land fall is Canada. Locals are very friendly and accommodating, the roads are well kept and in good order. Plenty of options for room and board where you will be treated like a local and offered local knowledge of things to do and experience.

The accommodation was clean and tidy. Rupert is very friendly and welcoming with great knowledge of the area and what to watch out for. He really makes a stay here feel relaxed and safe. Great breakfast and he kindly made a breakfast to go when we had to leave for an early morning ferry. Would thoroughly recommend.

It is an idyllic spot on the Hebridean Way with a daily ferry to Mallaig. The walking options vary from mile after mile of glorious white sandy beaches to some very rugged though not difficult mountains. There are also possibilities for excursions on small boats. There is a bus up or down the Uists every 2 hours making it more accessible for those without cars. There is a new marina at Lochboisdale. There is a good Co-Op at Daliburgh - 3 miles from Lochboisdale. If the weather is grim there are several cafes.

    Nice to see island life.

Nice to see island life. We visited the museum, our lady of the isles statue, Flora macdonald birth place, the roundhouses and Hebridean craft shop. We also went for a walk along the beach. If I had more time I would have done a few more walks to get the sea air.
