Great town with many shops, restaurants, bars, and cafes. Saturday morning market was impressive. Coast line tram service runs up most of the Belgium coast (we had a day in Ostend). Although a small town, the centre is very full with shops, food stalls and restraurant. Fries, ice-cream and chocolate are all there. Although as :Belgium, I'd expect way more chocolate shops. The beach is long and not crowded. It is fitted with cabins that can be rented. There is an amusement park (and water park) which can make for a fun day out. You'd need to book it. There are not halal food places around, and the closest thing is across the French border (~20KM).

Hidden gem. Miles of soft sand, with sheltered eating/drinking restaurants on the beach. Miles of promenade, easily accessed with the hire of a bicycle or cart. Warm and friendly Manager, rooms are above the bar and breakfast area, clean and well presented. Lovely old styled Bar was well priced, and the bar quiet the night we stayed. Breakfast is pre-ordered and a full choice, served with refills of tea &coffee as required. We had the apartment, which is around the corner of the hotel in a separate apartment complex. The apartment was very clean with ample space and two double beds. Everything was clean when we arrived, there was some food in the fridge, clean towels in the bathroom. Every morning at 8am the breakfast arrived. My son loved the bunk bed and wanted to stay longer. It is really close to Plopsaland, which was great in our case.

And I really liked how friendly the owner is. Beautiful garden with some goats and chickens (they didn't make any noise or such during our stay). Not to forget the rich breakfasts. The owner will make you omlette or boiled egg on request.
