It is a pretty city to explore with a variety of architectural styles. The area is dotted with other attractive towns and coastal hikes. Beautiful landscape. Quimper is quite central to lots of nice day trips.

Quimper is an interesting place with decent bars and restaurants history and architecture. Great access to Finistere and the coast. The apartment was in Locmaria district a quirky neighbourhood with its own character and nightlife just a 15 minute stroll into the centre where we ate decent French cuisine and also ate well at Mama Thai as the name suggests it was was Thai food but of the highest order

Quimper is a very central medium size French city.
Quimper is a very central medium size French city. It does have medieval buildings, but it is very much a working city and somewhat gritty. It is not completely dedicated to tourists, which is good and bad. It felt very authentic, but some parts felt less then safe, secure. The best, prettiest area is the main square around the church. The main tourist area is tiny, but nicely pedestrianized. Also the museum of Breton heritage is well-worth a couple hours. Beyond that, not much too see, but Quimper is a great base for the surrounding region.

I loved the outdoor seating area, giving both sun and shade, unbelievably quiet even though so close to the main tourist areas. We are travelling with our new electric bikes on the back of the car and the inside of the car loaded with items for our house in South west France so we really needed secure parking, I was more than happy to leave everything in the car park.
