A stately city just inland from France’s Mediterranean coast, Montpellier is capital of the Languedoc-Roussillon region, known for its wine production.
Place du Peyrou, the city’s highest point, has excellent views and has a wide boulevard down the middle of its park. Its west end has a triumphal arch overlooking a pool and on the other side is a magnificent, 18th-century aqueduct running as far as the eye can see. To the north are France’s oldest botanical gardens, maintained by Montpellier University, one of the world’s oldest universities.
Rue du Bras de Fer is a narrow, medieval street with a secret sight through almost every portico, and another must-see is Place de la Comédie. This wide, pedestrian square is lined with street cafes and impressive buildings including the 19th-century opera house. Streets leading off contain high-end boutiques, while cheaper Montpellier shopping options are Le Polygone shopping center and the huge Odysseum leisure and shopping complex.
Other Montpellier sights include the 14th-century cathedral and the Antigone district with its grand Neo-Classical architecture. Also worth a look is the Musée Fabre art museum, and speaking of art, keep an eye out for the brightly decorated trams.
Before leaving your Montpellier hotel to go to Méditerranée Airport near the Cote d’Azur, sample some local seafood. The oysters are amazing!
Montpellier is a nice medium size city. I visited it during May when the weather was warm and sunny. The city center is lovely, it has many historic attractions in great condition!| Moreover, the tram system is really useful and brings you to the beach and the main commercial centers/aquarium.

Montpellier is a lovely city to visit for a couple of days.
Montpellier is a lovely city to visit for a couple of days. They seem to host lots of events there (there was a BMX championship on the day we visited). There's also lots to see in the old part of town. Seems friendly and safe (but we didnt go out after 7pm - just because we stayed in the hotel).

Vibrant city with a Mediterranean vibe, lots to see and do.
Vibrant city with a Mediterranean vibe, lots to see and do. Excellent Tourist Information Centre that recommended a brilliant walking tour (in English). Loved a free photography exhibition (with English captions!) in the Pavillon Populaire near the TIC. I went to a concert at the Opera Comique and enjoyed good food but, sadly, no time for the Museum Fabre.
For a change of scene, I took a train to the coastal resort of Sete - well worth 12 euros!

The historical centre is quite small and easy to visit walking from place de la Comédie. Very good possibilities to travel with the trams. A lot of restaurants of all kinds and at very affordable rates.
Parc Du Peyrou and the aqueduct is a must see. The cathedral St Pierre is to be seen, inside as well as outside. Botanical garden is very well organised and counts numerous trees and plants.

Beautiful city.
Beautiful city. Lots of "old Europe" feel to it - tiny winding streets, quaint shops, numerous cafes. Very easy to walk but it also has a good tram system. It poured rain on my main day there, alas! I'm looking for places to retire to and Montpellier definitely ranks on it.

I filled my time very happily with a couple of excursions and a trip to Lette but could have done it in six days rather than seven. I thoroughly enjoyed it.
Public transport is now free! Frequent trams take you to the outskirts, then buses for onward travel.
Train fares vary with each departure, some cheap and some can match British ones. There were a couple of delays on trains, it is a bit of a wild area and one was delayed for three hours or more as a train had collided with a wild pig!
Amazing and friendly staff. confortable bedding even though the rooms are on the small side. Nice breakfast (but scrambled eggs would have been nice), pool is nice but a bit small as the hotel was completely full and there were lots of people. Good location as the tram to take you to Montpellier is just a 3-4 minutes walk from the hotel. We unfortunately booked our trip last l’inusitée the rooms were expensive but the hotel is really worth it if you book in advance. We will definitely stay at this hotel again next time we go to Montpellier.
The room was pretty elegant for a 3 stars hotel, the space was really well organized and it gave the whole room the sense of a much larger one. The staff was really efficient (fastest checkin/checkout procedure we ever had), really kind and helpful.
The location is great (right across the train station) making it perfect for a pass-through Montpellier stay (as we had).
I also loved that there was a bit of milk next to the coffee machine in the room so that I can prepare my coffee the way I liked :)
We loved everything about this place. It’s in a quiet neighbourhood, there’s parking, the hosts are two of the nicest people you could hope to meet anywhere; there’s a lovely friendly little rescue dog, the rooms are beautiful and it’s like staying in a top class hotel. Breakfast was great. The hosts helped us find the tram and get out to Montpelier centre (very easy and cheap) and suggested a wonderful restaurant. Couldn’t have asked for more, and it exceeded our expectations in every way.
This property exceeded my expectations. The SPA facilities were very nice—steam & sauna. The heated indoor pool was superbe & quite large. The reception staff went out of their way to be friendly & helpful. They also spoke English which was good because our French is rudimentary. Room was large, comfortable, & clean. The bed very comfortable. Property is quite dog friendly. Location was convenient to the veterinarian clinic & shops in NW Montpellier.
Modern private hotel,
Very friendly staff,
The rooms are not very large, but very comfortable, separate toilet and shower, good soundproofing, very clean,
We had wonderful sleep and rest at night,
Secure parking, the parking gate is closed even during the day,
Very tasty breakfast, Coffee in the room
Great place to stop, no deposits, everything honest and everyone polite, our best experience in France!!!!
The staff was extremely helpful in assisting us with communications with Air France. Air France had lost our wheelchair on the flight into Montpellier. The staff tried to assist us in every way to recover our lost wheelchair. Also, the breakfast was very good and the dining area was clean and spacious. Also, the hotel located us near an elevator, as I had requested.
The location was fantastic! Close to the train station and a short walk to the main square and the old town. Staff were friendly and very helpful, especially the receptionist outlining the highlights of Montpellier on a map for us on our arrival. Loved the eclectic interior of the room. The hotel was very quiet, we didn't hear other guests or traffic at all.
Probably the worst hotel I have stayed at in my entire life. It was more like Alcatraz than a hotel. I appreciate it is a budget overnight stay but was still Euros 93 still not bargain basement. Food was inedible and nowhere else to eat as on an industrial estate near Montpellier airport. Time to pull these hotels down and start again - awful!
It's the cheapest I search for Montpellier. The room is better to the other 3 star hotel I was staying the day before. There's no actual person to help you we paid using the machine on the door and it will give you code to enter same code for your door. So it's safe. I felt safe. They can accept cash at 5 pm most is by using card for payment
The hotel is located in front of Montpellier Renfe Station . All staff are very friendly and helpful with smiles all the times.
They were treated well and gave me a wonderful time. Hotel has a patio where can relax . I will be there if I am going to have a chance to visit near future.
Thank you for all.
The whole atmosphere was relaxing. Having just spent two weeks travelling and at the World Cup rugby, the hotel was superb place to relax and unwind before going home. The staff where fantastic and Montpellier is just an electric bike ride away (complimentary bikes from the hotel)
The location of the hotel is very good, close to the centre, we were able to walk around on foot.
Good underground parking garage, many places, secured.
The personnel of the hotel is very friendly and helpful.
Overall, it was ok for 2-nights stay.
Nadia is the owner of a very comfortable apartment not far from the city centre.
She makes you feel at home with a great smile, a good conversation and a cold beer !
Highly recommendable !
Jan
Nice, cozy and charming appartment very well located (walking distance of the city centre). We had everything we needed in the kitchen to cook/eat something.
I totally recommend the place.
Lovely traditional hotel with helpful staff and an exceptionally comfortable bed.
I have stayed here four times and this hotel is always my first choice when I am staying in Montpellier.
