We visited Tropea in the first half of April.
We visited Tropea in the first half of April. The weather was pleasant and the city wasn´t crowded. Many of the restaurants and bars were still closed before the real season start but there were still plenty of options. Parking wasn´t very easy (and I expect to get some fines in the upcoming weeks).

I was there out of season.
I was there out of season. Many restaurants in Tropea were shut but enough. More opened at the weekend.
Public transport seems limited to the trains. Tropes is on a branch line and at best the trains are every 2 hours. There are lots of beaches to explore.
Access to the hills. Would require some research.

Tropea was an awesome little town!!
Tropea was an awesome little town!! Very quaint, plenty of restaurants, gellato stores and little shops! It has the perfect mix of stores, food, and outdoor activities. I WISH I had planned a longer stay, would go back here in a heartbeat!

The historic town is mostly pedestrianised or traffic restricted, and although heavily populated by tourists it is big enough not to be overwhelmed (at least that was the case in September). There is a lot of good historic architecture from a variety of periods, and many good restaurants. The beaches are not large, but are within walking distance of the town centre, but you need to be prepared for climbing lots of steps to get to them from the town.

It's a small town with a lot of ancient history.
It's a small town with a lot of ancient history. I highly recommend taking the time to read up on the history of Tropea - how it was founded, how old it is and many other awesome historical facts about it.
Tropea is not just a beach or resort vacation - I am always excited about the crooked streets, the food, the scenic views and the amazing vibe of the place and the people.
Makes me want to come here again and again!
One last tip - sunscreen, hiking shoes and a basic Italian vocabulary will make your visit perfect )
this place does not deserve the bad rating it has. sure is it luxury, absolutely not, it’s the cheapest place in Tropea to stay so not sure what these other reviewers were expecting. the owner was very nice and spoke very good English, check in was super easy, and the room was perfect for one night in Tropea, even had a balcony. the location was amazing for the price your paying, only about 5 minutes walk to the center of everything. also only about 8 minutes walking from the train. everything was clean. I’d definitely stay here again!
This is by far the best B&B i have stayed in. It feels more like a hotel with a personal touch. It is clean, it is comfortable, it has all the amenities. The balcony has a very beautiful view. It is 3-5mins walking from the central location. Francesco is very nice and hospitable. He responds immediately. His recommendations for restuarants are great. I could check in before time and also check out after checkout time. It is ~10 minutes from the train station.
I can genuinely recommend this place to anyone wants to stay in Tropea.
The room was spacious and beautiful. It was on the 3rd floor, no lift, and lots of steps, but that's Italy! The restaurant below ( La Pentola d'oro) was fantastic too. We let B&B know we needed parking and they provided us with details to call and reserve. Due to language barriers, we had a bit of struggle, but in the end it all worked. On our check out day we called for the ride to our car and pick up from an agreed upon location. To our surprise, they brought the car to us! Parking was 45 euro for 3 days in a gate secured lot.
the best place to stay in Tropea
nice and friendly staff will meet your every request to the maximum
they picked us up from the station and provided a ride to the station when leaving the hotel
great breakfast and dinner
wonderful view from the terrace to the sea and sunsets
spacious rooms, cleaned every day
everything is close in walking distance - to the city center and also to the beach (reached by private stairs)
we defintitely recommend and will definitely come again
grazie mille per tutto
The property is spectacular! The rooms are large, extremely clean and well appointed. The photos online do not do it justice! Beautiful neighborhood with many restaurants just steps away. I was a solo female traveler and felt very safe even walking to dinner by myself in the evening. The culture of TROPEA is warm and welcoming. The hotel owners and staff were beyond amazing as well as local shop owners who easily became my friends! Will definitely stay at the hotel again in near future
Lovely small hotel in a converted palazzo far enough away from main drag to be tranquil, yet centrally located in the heart of the old city. Entry is into a courtyard through a grand wooden door. Greeted warmly by Fernando, who gave us great tips on sightseeing and eating. Room was spotless, comfortable, had all amenities listed. Gorgeous bathroom. Slept soundly (double-paned windows). Generous breakfast on the lovely terrace. Excellent coffee to start the day.
We loved everything about this hotel! The staff were all so welcoming from the beginning and provided us with extra assistance in catching our ferry to Sicily after we left. We enjoyed drinks by the pool and a lovely restaurant recommended by the hotel. It was a short walk into town and the beach clubs. The breakfast was outstanding, so much choice and was the best we had found in our 3 weeks travelling through Italy.
What a great experience!🙂 With Melania and her nice family we have tasted a true Italy. The accomodation is super clean, very cozy and good situated with best view on santa maria del l'isola. Kitchen is full equipped and ready for all small dishes. The city center is right behind the front doors and is not so loud as we exepted.Highly recommended! Thank you Melania for beautiful stay.
It is one of the most beautiful towns in Italy. Really beautiful with a wonderful atmosphere, with historical monuments, beautiful greenery and original wonderful restaurants in small streets. beautiful view from the ramparts to the blue-green sandy beaches. Undoubtedly, together with Capo Vaticano, there are also the most beautiful beaches in all of Italy.
Claudia and her team were exceptional from the moment we arrived. They went above and beyond every day for our group. We left feeling like they were all family. We are already planning our next visit. The best place to stay in all of Tropea. Breakfast and cocktail hour on the terrace cannot be matched. The view is absolutely stunning.
The room was impeccable, very comfortable and clean. The bathroom/shower was one of the best we had during our one month stay in Italy in general. It was also very quiet which I believe was due to the good soundproofing.
Really good location, only a few minutes walk to the beach. Staff was friendly and always asked if everything was alright. If you want to swim at one of the best beaches in Italy, I recommend coming here :)
Location, staff, room, cleanliness, view, everything about this hotel was was 10/10. Will definitely be back! Thanks for a wonderful stay in the beautiful Tropea
The view!! Amazing view of Tropea and the sea! The pool area is fantastic. This hotel is very family friendly and the perfect place to relax and explore Tropea.
Best breakfast in my whole week in Italy. Fresh tomato, olives, cheese & fruits (Grazie Ilaria :)!
