The atmosphere in the hotel was relaxed, even laidback. The staff - particularly in the cosy restaurant and stylish bar - were friendly, multilingual, and highly professional. Our room and bathroom were spacious and comfortable with a mountain view and with everything we needed including a kettle, fridge, and daily supplies of tea, instant coffee, and mineral water.
We chose half board and the food was excellent. The breakfast buffet and the nightly salad buffet both had a generous and inviting range of options. We eat fish but not meat, and were really pleased by the choices every night from the two half board menus; one with meat and fish, one solely vegetarian, and with the ability to pick your dishes from both.
A typical dinner for us has comprised five courses: salad, soup, pasta, fish, and dessert - all of smallish size (but not the tiny Nouvelle Cuisine type of portion with more garnish than food), superb quality, and enough creativity in the use of ingredients and flavourings to make you feel “ooh; that’s a slightly new combination but it really works”. The fish and veg were perfectly cooked every time, the handmade pasta gorgeous, and the desserts truly excellent. On two of our nights there was a special menu: one night the desserts were provided as a buffet, and on another there was a Tyrolean buffet. That was mostly focused on meat eaters, but there was a good vegetarian soup and traditional dumplings of spinach and cheese, plus plenty of vegetables, so we didn’t go hungry. One thing that has seemed a bit strange to us: if you want cheese at the end of your meal you have to pay extra for it. Having said that, the salad buffet includes some nice cheeses and chutneys, so just have them at the start of the meal rather than the end.
The wine list is really good, with a particuarly lovely selection of local wines.

Our stay at Hotel Goldknopf was truly exceptional! While there are certainly more luxurious options out there, this has been one of the best hotels we’ve ever experienced. The location and the views from the hotel are simply incredible—nothing short of breathtaking. The beds were big and comfortable, ensuring a perfect night's sleep. What really made our stay memorable, though, was the staff. Everyone was super friendly and went out of their way to help make our visit enjoyable. We are definitely planning to come back next year!

This region is super! It was our first time to visit so we were in awe of the views and the many options for recreation. We were there in July - considered off-season, so we had expected more stores and restaurants to be open that were not. We still had plenty to choose from, and only wished we had planned a longer stay to enjoy the region.

This was one of the highlights of our Northern Italy vacation. I would love to have stayed longer as there is so much to explore. It's incredibly peaceful and you truly feel that you are off the beaten path. It didn't seem to be recommended to stay in Compatsch, but that was the best and most economical option at the time I booked, and we loved staying on the plateau with the beautiful scenery surrounding, though the drive is a bit harrowing. Our hotel provided some meals but otherwise there are some restaurants in the area. There is also a bike rental place in Compatsch, not just at the bottom in Siusi.

It's the perfect place in Sud Tirol!
It's the perfect place in Sud Tirol! No way respect to others beautiful valleys as Gardena or Badia, even they are wonderful, have magic mountains and any service you need. No cars here. Here you are isolate but connected, in the nature but perfectly served. At 1500 mt on sea level, surrounded by Dolomites tops, in the middle of green infinite fields. Hotels and garni, b&b and rifugi, food, wine and beer, gorgeous spa and animals to caress, running, riding, swimming, skiing, snowboarding, hiking, wandering, just relaxing. Great snow park in wintertime. Suggesting in Autumn.
The scenery here is absolutely breathtaking, and the hotel truly excels in every aspect. The rooms are not only impeccably tidy but also incredibly spacious, complemented by a fantastic wellness center and a plethora of nature-based activities. Our dinner was exquisite, and the highlight was undoubtedly the lobby bar with its captivating fireplace at the center. Moreover, the staff was incredibly accommodating; we seamlessly communicated with them in both English and German, and everyone was exceptionally helpful.

Fantastic location for hiking and exploring the Alpe di Siusi! The room was spacious and comfortable. The breakfasts and dinners included in your stay are well-worth it; dinner is 5 courses of gourmet dishes with good service. My husband and I enjoyed being able to hike all day and have a lovely sit down to dinner ready for our in the hotel.
Had a very comfortable stay at Hotel Schmung. It is conveniently a 10 minute walk from Compatsch which is the start of many hiking trails at Alpe di Siusi. The staff were friendly and efficient so we were pleased with the service there. Had both breakfast and dinner there and enjoyed the variety and quality of the food.
What an amaaaaazing hotel with gorgeous views, excellent service, and a restaurant that has delicious meals and accommodates dietary restrictions (my hubby is Vegan). We loved our experience at Alpina Dolomites and highly recommend it to those planning to visit the beautiful South Tyrol region of northern Italy.
The receptionist is super friendly and helpful. The location is valued as it is closed to the last parking plot after which people can not drive further by car. It takes 45-60 min from the hotel to the plateau where people can take hundreds beautiful fotos. Highly recommend for photographers.
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Piccolo Hotel. The location is fabulous and convenient - amazing views. The food was wonderful, the bar staff was accommodating, and the staff was delightful. Everything was super clean and comfortable.
Nice nature , but the road to the hotel is very steep. For older people very steep and when snow slipery. To get to the bus you have to walk down on this steep road for about 300 mtrs. We saw different older people fell down.
Wonderful place - stayed here in summer season! Was very happy with the hotel staff, facilities, food, the views - space to enjoy it all.. and so many hiking tracks just outside the hotel.
Hope to return next summer!
Breakfast was great. Above all, it is located in great location. Awesome views just outside the hotel. You can just go out and see the majestic Dolomites mountains surrounding Alpe di Siusi. Will surely come back.
Given the location, expectations were quite high, and the hotel exceeded them. Very comfortable room with great view, nice facilities including laundry. Restaurant was great as well. Would like to visit again.
Very broad range of breakfast offer. Very attentive staff, providing really nice presentation of served meals. Calm location, nice for relaxing. Many hiking and bicycling opportunities.
The location right in the Alpe di siusi , great for hiking (but you have to drive a bit more if you want to explore other area)
The room is cosy and comfortable
And the food is great!
The hotel was very nice with spacious rooms, wi-fi, comfy beds and balcony. Very convenient location close to many hikes, gondolas etc. Rich and delicious breakfasts and dinners.
the view and the location. The dinner buffet was beyond my expectations, abundant and delicious. It was the best price to quality hotel during this trip.
