Porto Cervo is the heart of the Costa Smeralda. While the jet setter heydays of the 60's to 80's is long past, the town retains its charm with beautiful homes and shops. A visit to the Costa Smeralda in the off season, like we did in September, avoids the mass tourists and overly expensive hotels and restaurants. The beaches are magnificent and the entire area is a feast for the eyes. There is lots to do, scuba diving at Orso Diving in Poltu Quatu, or chartering a boar at Poltu Quatu Charter. A drive to Palau and the ferry to La Magdalena shows you even more of the splendour of this utterly beautiful part of Sardinia. But make no mistake, Sardinia has far, far more to offer than the Costa Smeralda. But it's a great place to begin to discover the magical island that is Sardinia.
