From the moment I arrived at Fern Resort, it was clear this place was something truly special. Nestled in a serene setting, the resort serves as a perfect retreat for both mind and body, offering a magical escape from the everyday. This wasn't just a stay; it was an emotional experience that deeply moved me, and leaving after just one night felt unexpectedly poignant.
The magic of isn’t about meticulous details; it's about the atmosphere as a whole. The colors, the smells, and the sounds all blend together to create an environment that vibrates with enchantment. Each element comes together to forge an unforgettable experience that exceeded all my expectations.
The staff at are the heart of its charm. They are kind, helpful, always smiling, and impeccably polite, enhancing the overall experience with their attentive service. The culinary offerings were delightful, with delicious meals and an exceptional breakfast that perfectly started the day.
My only regret is that I stayed for just one night. Time constraints were my downfall, and I left a piece of my heart behind in this enchanting place. Like many travelers, I find myself leaving bits of my heart across Thailand, but it’s at Fern where I left the biggest piece. Now, I'm set with the sole aim of returning as soon as possible to immerse myself for many more days in this magical place.

Nothing to see except nearby shrine on tophills with stunning view of the town. Proximity to few Karen tribe villages.
Besides that the town itself has nothing to offer. No life on streets and most of business closed after 8 pm.

I did the famous Mae Hong Son loop on scooter for 3 nights/4 days and it was perfect. People tend to stay in Pai for a few days to make it a little longer, but since I didn't like Pai, one night stay was perfect for me.

We had three days in MHS the ( Dec31-Jan 3) New years eve down by the lake in the town was great. So much going on and people everywhere. Good food stalls and market every night and i recommend eating at the Good View resteraunt by the lake. For anyone who's trip in MHS is due to riding the Mae Hong Son Loop , this is the town to get your souvenier t-shirts, stickers etc. All in all Mae Hong Son is a great place to visit for a few days .I also recommend taking the side roads off the main Loop road.

Such a laid back, friendly place.
Such a laid back, friendly place. If you are near the small lake you are near what you need. Killer night market. This is maybe my 10th night market in Thailand and maybe my favourite. Good food and cheap. Beautiful setting at night along the lake. The viewpoint on the mountain is fantastic. Walk up the stairs and earn the view. Behind the Wat is a cement road going up and this is where you can look out to Burma. Rent bikes and make your way out of town, cross the Pai River and explore the roads. Great easy cycling. Biggest obstacle is the heat. We are both in our early 60’s and had no issues. Come for 3 days and stay for 9 like us if you can. The best Chicken Khao Soi can be had at Khaw Soi Panoon. Also check out the morning Market 😍
Cute little cottage in semi-rural area in the outskirts of town.
Very well equipped. Airco, shower and fridge work well.
We loved sitting on our little porch with a cold drink overlooking the green area and with the neighborhood dogs playing around.
You will need your own transport to go to the center of town. It's about 10 minutes on the motorcycle.
Mae Hong Son has a lovely night market and some very nice places to eat and drink around it.
We enjoyed our stay very much!
The room we had was lovely- it was spacious, airy and comfortable with excellent amenities like a fridge, hairdryer, kettle (with free coffee) and toiletries too. We were left 2 bottles of free water each day. The main walking street along with nice restaurants are within a 5 minute walk from the property. The family that run the guesthouse are so welcoming and hospitable! We would definitely stay here again if in Mae Hong Son!
It was just perfect!!
I loved my stay at Saiyud Hostel and I could have staid longer!
The owners are just super kind and very sweet. The dormitory is the cleanest I have ever seen, it is modern and the rooms are minimalist, all that I love! Really liked the city too, very peaceful, just everything was perfect! Thank you so much!
the grounds are incredible! it was built as a model for sustainable ecotourism in Thailand, which means they only employ locals and use local flora to attract animals and birds. It is amazingly beautiful. The staff are also very friendly and accommodating.
The service, and care and attention to the guests rivaled that of high class expensive hotels in Bangkok.
The warm and welcoming manner towards me and my partner was incredible, the hotel staff as well as the hotel made our journey even more amazing.
Great hotel in Mae Hong Son. Easy to find, right on the main road, but just far enough out of town to be quiet and relaxed (but still easy to get into down). Beautiful reception, friendly staff, lovely rooms with all the necessary amenities.
My girlfriend said it was the cleanest hotel in Thailand. And we stayed at some nice places.
Food is grown in the property. Everything is home made and made from scratch. Nothing is more authentic than this Family Run Bed and Breakfast.
Driving the Mae Hong Son loop my partner and I stayed here for 2 nights.
On the whole we had a good stay here and as we had a car could drive to places to eat and tourist sites, however a few of cons to be aware of which if noted below:
The location is good as a stop between Pai and Mae Hong Song. The owners was SO kind and helpful, she cooked all of our meals for us and definitely made the stay! The rooms were comfortable and clean, this stay is good value for money!
Camp hidden in the forest in funky cool huts with full amenities - it was such a great experience. Located in serene surroundings while walkable to the center of Mae Hong Son City. A definite gem if you are visiting MHS!
one of my favorite places I have stayed in Thailand. the owner is SO hands on. will help you with anything you need and for 80 baht will cook a feast with you. make
for such a nice vibe after the parties in the south :)
Everything about the hotel was lovely and set in a very tranquil place. The only downside, which is not really that bad, is that its about 15mins drive from Mae Hong Son. We didn't mind as we had a rental car!
The hotel owner showed us a local map and recommended walking to the local temple for sunset- it was wonderful. We also arranged a ride and a tour to some places on the way to Pang Mapha- it was fantastic.
Very nice property, free tea, coffee and water. Bike rental and helpful staff that provide a map of things to see and do in Mae Hong Son. Spacious room and quality for the price.
