Everything. The room is spacious and toilet is spacious. You feel like you’re in Japan without being in Japan. The view from the restaurant is stunning. The Japanese breakfast is delicious and I regret that we only stayed for one night. Of course it is hard to find the place, regardless where you stay on the mountain you will get lost as it is just like Venice but on the mountain. But the owner/B&B staff was kind and helpful enough to come up to the top to get us. My tips is not to bring too many luggages. Just bring what you need as it could be difficult to walk down and up the stairs.

Nice showers, good location, nice view from the terrace. They let us leave our bags for the day which was very nice of them.
love the night scene. Shops closes too early. Its a dead town after 7pm. The Gold Museum is too under-rated. Its so interesting & a wonderful place to just chill apart from the educational activities.

I would have rated this a 10 for stay if it was just a tad easier to locate. In saying that, once the property was located, the location was perfect. Host was lovely and highly recommend this place. A very cosy, clean and comfortable stay.

If you don't like crowded areas, Jiufen is not for you.
If you don't like crowded areas, Jiufen is not for you. The Jiufen old street is so narrow that you can only take some few mini steps at a time. If you were to come here, I'd suggest you to book your stay in Jiufen for the night, come in the late afternoon, perhaps go on the night walking tour, and then enjoy the views and Jiufen Old street in the early morning before all of the tourists come flooding in.

We went to Jiufen in January (winter time).
We went to Jiufen in January (winter time). As malaysians, we immensly enjoyed the milder temperatures and the lack of rain during this time, considering we came form a hot, humid country with torrential rain on a daily basis.
So, our timing for visiting Jiufen was perfect for us. Jiufen can be quite crowded at times but our stay at night made all the difference. less crowd, magical red lights and the night market was amazing. It was famous for the Amei teahouse but i think Jiufen is more than that. To find gems in other things, I'd recommend staying in Jiufen overnight.

The village is absolutely charming, only need one night here. In the evening it gets very busy but the teahouse (Jiufen teahouse) was very quiet. Lots of interesting food to try. Incredible views. Lots of hiking trails nearby. Easy to get a bus from Taipei there and back (and cheap) - you just tap on and tap off with your card.

As I strolled through the winding narrow lanes, surrounded by souvenir shops, traditional snacks, sweet treats, and Taiwanese cuisine restaurants, I found myself immersed in the charm of an old market perched atop the mountain with a breathtaking view of the bay on the north coast.
The bustling market came alive, especially during the late weekend mornings when the narrow lanes echoed with the footsteps of tourists. To savor the experience without the crowd, I recommend arriving early and soaking in the authentic atmosphere.
A must-try activity is settling into a cozy terrace seat, sipping on aromatic oolong tea while gazing out at the panoramic beauty of the bay area. The tranquility of the moment adds a touch of serenity to the vibrant surroundings.
Accessing this hidden gem is surprisingly easy via public transport. Opt for a bus from Ruifang train station or downtown Taipei, Zhongli train station, making the journey convenient and delightful. With just an hour's travel from downtown Taipei, this mountain-top market promises a memorable escape from the bustling city life, offering a perfect blend of culture, cuisine, and scenic beauty.
The location is very convenient, close to Juifen Old Street and the Old Street bus stop.
The owner/hotel keeper is super friendly and personable. He runs the hotel with his wife and has a very extensive kite collection in the basement (aka the museum) and will happily provide a very informative tour. It feels like a hostel school groups might stay at (?) and has a very welcoming atmosphere. Because the building is very tall you have a fantastic view of the valley below.
I love it has a warmth ambience and welcoming feels. Second and third floor area are amazingly beautiful and ZEN! Breakfast is good, the barley porridge and the pickles are perfectly match :) All in all, I had a pleasant stay.
Note. If you take bus or start walking from Jiufen Old Street, it would be lots of stairs, bring backpack would be more convenient, otherwise take taxi and it would drop you to the nearest point of the hotel.
Perfect location to juifen old street, even steep stairs. You can go to shopping at Jiufen old street both in evening and morning. That is good for shopper. There is breakfast that fit for one meal. The owner is friendly and kind. There is parking lot next to the hotel. You should call the hotel before you arrive to open the parking lot. The way up is quite steep and curved, there are a lot of cars after you.
Watch sunset at Jiufen Old Street and the views were awesome!. The owners were friendly and kind enough to provide us with a Map (they prepare it by themselves!). The room was comfortable enough for us. Ni complained about it. Very clean. Nearby to 7-11 & Family Mart which was very convenient. Many eateries for non-muslims. Easy access to the bus stop. I will definitely stay here again.
Very friendly, helpful hospitable hosts. Location is very near old jiufen street.. Comfy apartment with relaxing lobby/ dining area where you can just chill listening to music while enjoying light breakfast prepared by hosts. Hosts even prepared medical chests, shoe dryer etc at common area. There is Dehumidifier In toilet. Very thoughtful hosts!
I travelled with a group of 9. Was glad we took a bigger room with an additional living room and balcony which we could hang out together and not disturb others. Great view of keelung sea both in the day and at night. Do note that it is near Jiufen Old Street but you would have to climb a few flight of stairs to get there. Breakfast was lovely.
Auntie was so nice! Uncle also helped us with the luggage as we went down the wrong bus stop and Auntie came to find us! The bed is very comfy, the balcony view was superb, very comfortable place and cozy, just walk up the staircase near the temple to go to the old street at Jiufen. Nice brekky too made by Auntie!
Friendly owner, good location, near to bus station and just 5 mins walk to jiufen old street. Price reasonable, sufficient room space with mountain and sea view. Simple breakfast provided (sandwich and hot tea), comfortable room and clean toilet with strong water pressure. Wide view from the roof top.
A cosy homestay in Jiufen that is great for a short stay. The room is simple but well-equipped - you get the amenities that are typically provided in hotels. I thoroughly enjoyed the kite museum tour!
Beautiful views from this modern room and great location directly outside of Jiufen Old Street. The room came with a nice selection of snacks and tea / coffee.
The environment is comfortable and near to Jiufen Oldstreet (walk around 2-5min). They also provide Youtube/Netflix and you can login to your own account.
Location is great, short walking distance to the JiuFen old street. Plenty of space for the four of us with great ocean views. Host was super friendly.
