Sarah, the host, was lovely, even minded the dogs for a few hours. The property was clean and tidy with a beautiful view. The garden was fully enclosed for the dogs and very well looked after. Easy access to plenty of eating places.

Good location, clean reasonably sized en suite room and friendly, helpful staff. Reasonably priced food options.

We stayed near Pontefract specifically to visit Wentworth Woodhouse and Brodsworth Hall. We found we were near to Nostell Priory which is actually a stately home so went there as well. These are all interesting places to visit, and the grounds are great for nature walks, also have children's play areas. All serve refreshments, and Wentworth also has an International Tea Room and pre-booked Afternoon Teas. We ate our breakfast and evening meals in the Jacobean Bar at Rogerthorpe Manor Hotel, and had some refreshments at the places we visited. We found them easy to drive to. We also enjoyed walking round the village of Badsworth and along footpaths to neighbouring villages. I would consider spending another weekend here and wouldn't avoid anything. Definitely recommend the venue.

They put us in room 8, this room didn’t have any windows, all it had was a sky light on the flat roof, they was no blind or window covering, we was woken by the daylight at 6.15am. Think this is the worst room I’ve ever stayed in. The chair in the room was only fit for the stip

This holiday venue was very beautiful plenty of open grounds for multipule activities unfortunately if you are not a driver it is not easy to get around as transport is not readly available.
Although the staff has taxi numbers some local cab firms do not always have availability but that still will not stop us from commong back for a shirt break if you want to relax.

People of Pontefract are warm and friendly.
People of Pontefract are warm and friendly. Would recommend the Liquorice bush pub. Lovely real ale and friendly staff. Hope and Anchor has real ale and a couple enjoyable nights in there.
Not much accommodation too near the town.
I telephoned the hotel to advise them that I had broken down and was working with the AA to get me going but I may be late booking in and for my evening reservation. When I finally arrived, wet and exhausted, I was greeted with "oh fantastic you made it. would you like to go into the restaurant now or should I give you some time to relax first. Oh and would you like a rasperry brownie" An understanding friendly face was just what I needed thank you
The location and setting are excellent as is the ambience of the hotel. The only drawback is the lack of decent restaurants in the area if you are unable to book a meal at the hotel which we were not because of the lateness of our booking. The staff are quintessential “Yorkshire”,friendly, accommodating and a pleasure to be with. Needless to say I’m an “expat”.
Well done everyone involved with the hotel.
The food in the restaurant was absolutely amazing . A little pricy but worth it for the quality. And the breakfast was great, it’s definitely worth paying the extra £10 when you book as we didn’t do that and had to pay £12.50 each but it was great all sorts of selection. The room and the hotel itself is stunning, amazing for what we paid.
I can't recommend this place enough, it has everything you need for a home away from home. It's handily close to the centre with everything in easy walking distance. Quentin was always a fantastic help, from extending my stay to the minor issues that arose. I'll definitely be booking again in future.
The flat is in Pontefract, which not itself a great destination, but it is close to other places to visit.
Also it is great value for money. It was a flat on two floors, with 4 double bedrooms and two bathrooms. And it was quiet for a flat close to a main road.
We had a lovely stay. Our room was booked in the main hotel. When we arrived we were told that there was a musical event on so they kindly moved us to the chalets so we would not be disturbed. Breakfast was very good and all the staff very helpful..
The hotel is budget and that`s why I chose it. Everything worked. Hot water was hot and readily available. The TV worked on the channels I watched. The bed was actually comfortable.
Everything is in need of a refresh but for the price I was happy.
The location is v central and convenient for me. I liked the comfort of the bed, warmth of shower etc. Very good value for money. Great communication via the app with hotel staff.
Standard of this accommodation is excellent.the location is brilliant 15 mins walk from tanshelf train station 25 mins walk to racecourse and 5 seconds from town center
