The breakfast and the location were excellent for our purpose. It is a pub with a hotel block attached and it is exactly as it says on the tin. The property is a little tired but the staff are excellent. They coped with a 50th birthday party in a marquee as well as a rammed bar and restaurant very well the quality of the Dodd exceeded expectations.

Breakfast was good on both days, the service was more friendly on our first morning at breakfast compared to the second morning. The room was clean and tidy.

What a gem this place is - perfect for a family visiting the area but also wanting to switch off and drink in some nature at a slower pace. The place itself is lovely, well-appointed (TV with services, games, dishwasher etc) and comfortable, with great beds and shower - and stocked with breakfast goodies. And uninterrupted views of green fields and trees. Outside was heaven for a small explorer - trampoline, bikes to ride, trees to climb. And all of this was minutes away from some of the best family attractions around - the Winchester Science Centre, Marwell Zoo, pony riding sessions and proper pubs. Oh and communication with Shannon was perfect - there when you need anything and very considerate. Bliss.
There was nothing to like at my visit.
Poor communication, wrong keycode, no info which is your building, pitch black outside, good luck to find the building behind.
If things go wrong, no one to call, even if you have phone reception. Absolutely dangerous to stay at a place where no one can help you at anything in emergency until next morning
