Sotetsu Grand Fresa Osaka-Namba, hotel in Osaka

Opened in April 2016, Sotetsu Grand Fresa Osaka-Namba features free WiFi throughout the entire property and an on-site restaurant.

I like the hotel location, the room on the higher floor, with the window and the 8th floor facing the street view. Non smoking floor. The staff are nice and very helpful. The shower water is pressure strong and so good. I drink the water from the tap in the bathroom. Everything was perfect. Good breakfast, and it is close to the metro subway, walk 150m to the hotel. Highly recommended! We will come back here again.

FAQs about hotels in Osaka

A Stronghold of Japanese Culture

At the meeting point of river and sea, huge Osaka combines forward-thinking development and sure-footed tradition. This is symbolised in its temple-like, 16th century castle, guarded by ramparts and enlivened by vibrant spring cherry blossom. Dominating the surrounding skyline is Osaka Business Park, a reminder of the city’s strong role in the Japanese economy.

However, the most striking skyscraper is the Umeda Sky Building - 2 towers connected by a rooftop terrace offering far-reaching views. The nearby Osaka and Umeda train stations are linked by underground shopping centres, while the shops of Shinsaibashi’s America Village appeal to a younger crowd. Dōtonbori’s neon lights promote more shops, as well as restaurants considered the best in Osaka. In a city touted as Japan’s culinary capital, that’s quite an accolade.

The Tsūtenkaku tower overlooks Tennōji Park, home of the Osaka Municipal Museum of Art. Another nearby park houses Shitennō-ji, one of Japan’s oldest Buddhist temples.

The Kyocera Dome Osaka is a shrine of baseball, and more thrills are at waterfront Universal Studios Japan, the country’s 2nd largest theme park. Also by the sea is Kansai International Airport, on its own artificial island.

The capsule hotel was invented in Osaka, and alongside this type of accommodation, Booking.com also offers luxury hotels with pools, cheap hostels and traditional ryokans.

Osaka has lots of different things to see, from the castle to the aquarium, modern shopping centers to neon-lit tourist streets and giant underground shopping/dining complexes. Public transportation is convenient, clean, safe, and timely. Multiple interweaving systems can be a bit confusing, and transfers between lines might involve a bit of walking through large stations. Osaka is an easy central point for visiting Kyoto, Kobe, Himeji.

Would definitely recommend travellers to rent a car and explore the outskirts of Osaka city, Minoh falls, strawberry farm, Daruma Temple etc. Driving in Osaka city itself was quite confusing as there are many lanes but after awhile it got better. Most touristy attractions can be reached easily by train or bus, but with a car you can go to those far off places to take in the sights of beautiful Osaka and not confined to just the city areas. Food, shopping and sight seeing is plentiful, the people are mostly very polite and friendly. Transport network is awesome, and Google map works very well there.

For our 4 days and 3 nights stay in Osaka we were able to go to Universal Studios, Osaka Castle, Umeda Sky Building, Shinsekai, Dotonbori / Shinsaibashi and Namba Yasaka Shrine. All of those places I mentioned have restaurants if you happen to get hungry. Our to go to when we needed a snack was family mart which was everyone. We had to take the train to reach the places I’ve mentioned - it’s cheaper compared to getting a taxi. Osaka is a great place. I would recommend it to those visiting Japan for the first time like my family.

For a first time visitor to Japan, I am glad I chose Osaka,...

For a first time visitor to Japan, I am glad I chose Osaka, rather than Tokyo. Whilst we did visit Tokyo, it was too large and very busy with an extremely complex underground/railway network. We stayed in two locations during our holiday. The first being appartments designed for short stay tourists. The second was a holiday home which worked out cheaper and was much more spacious. If you are travelling with a family I can highly recommend the second option. Whilst it was not centrally located, the area (Imaichi) was quiet and clearly was not used to tourists in that area (this was a good thing!) There was a more friendly atmosphere - and homely feel about the area. Central Osaka was easier to navigate than Tokyo with fewer underground lines. Wether you wanted to stay in a city envronment or visit more rural areas such as Nara or the northern beaches of Tottori (Higashihama - 100m from the station!) - It could all be done with a cheaper JR Area Pass (rather than the more expensive all Japan JR Rail Pass). Kyoto and Lake Biwa was stunning. With easy access westwards towards Himeji, Fukuyama and Hiroshima, Osaka is a much more all rounded experience of Japan. I would say self catering accommodation is the way to go. The food availalble from convenience stores and the local markets is freshly prepared, restaurant quality and ready to eat. I am amazed if the local population actually properly cook for themselves at all! I could not get over the size of the apples (huge)! Try the strawberry and cream sandwich - go on - do it!

Services are amazing and you get free Sake and cup of noodles from 4PM to 9 PM which makes it perfect for chill and relax. You have few amenities such as 7 eleven, Lawson close by so if want to grab anything additional then you are walakable distance. I would recommend this place for any one who wants to stay nearby

This hotel is in an incredible location in Osaka as far as ready access to trains, local shopping, convenience stores and restaurants. It's super affordable if you're staying there during the week. Checking in and out is easy even if you're not great with Japanese. Compared to the other capsule hotel I've been to this one is nice because you get some personal space. A small area to lay out your things, eat and relax by yourself between activities.

The location of this hotel is fantastic, being right next to the Namba train station and a short walk to Dotonbori and the Kuromon markets. There's two multistorey shopping options just across the road as well. The room was comfortable and reasonable spacious but basic. Breakfast had a small number of options but enough to keep most happy - more japanese options than western. The staff were very friendly here.

The apartment was the biggest compared to tokyo and kyoto hotels that i have stayed. It makes you feel like home. Highly recommended.

The location was great - easy to walk to Dotonbori and relatively close to Osaka castle as well. Compared to other capsule hotels, the spaces in the deluxe rooms are massive and are essentially as big as a normal room. Locker space is decent as well in the room and should fit a medium (carry on) suitcase easily.

Very convenient location in Osaka. Service is very good. They provide luggage delivery to other hotels as well which is a big must in travelling in Japan.

The hotel is decent. Location is very near Dotonbori and Shinsaibashi which we prefer when visiting Osaka. Our room was very spacious for a family of 3.

Room is big compared to other hotels that we have stayed in Japan. Will definitely choose this hotel again when we are back in Osaka
