Efficient and friendly staff. Splendid views, lovely gardens well tended. Good free parking. Bedroom: excellent bed, good bathroom. Good and varied breakfast included. Hotel keeps improving the installations, as a very old palace is always difficult to change in a instant.
Set in Vila Real, Residencial Encontro has a shared lounge, restaurant, bar, and free WiFi throughout the property.

I liked cozy greetings, welcomed owners and theire cafe with excellent breakfast. Also view from the window and great location in the city center. Interior in the room was like in my grandma house or at the village, so it was comfy

Conveniently located near the main bus station and close to the old downtown. Large appartement with one kitchen, living room, bedroom and bathroom. Everything is very clean and functional. Fernando the host is very nice and helpful. There's one dedicated parking place nearby.

The location was the best but you cannot go for walks - the location is best for visiting Mateus. It is outside the town.
The dining room has classical interior but what spoils it is a large tv screen blaring out programmes like in a motorway restaiurant

Breakfast was lovely!
Breakfast was lovely! All locally produced foods, eggs cheese and bread! Fresh orange juice! We had no tv in our room ( some rooms do have tv’s) but this wasn’t a big deal! Would have appreciated another mirror-in the main bedroom as the the bathroom had the only one but again we managed. I had my tablet so accessed everything I needed on that. The honesty shop sold wine beer bread and snacks at vey reasonable prices! Ginas restaurant down the road was great and very cheap

Vila Real is at the top of the mountains in the Douro Region. It has extremely beautiful views, the city is nice and it has a lot of nature around it. You have many restaurants with typical food that are cheap. If you like eating, wine and mountains it's a perfect stay.

Other than a nice central church (Sé) and half a dozen historical buildings which can be seen in a couple of hours, Vila Real is one of the least interesting cities in Portugal, with a very ugly and disordinate built environment. Most buildings from the 70's and 80's with poor design.
The 'must see' item is by far the Palácio MATEUS on the outskirts of the city (in Mateus on the South entrance to Vila Real), an architectural masterpiece and an iconic place full of history and a beatiful setting.

One of Portugal's nicest regions, close to the fantastic Douro Valley and thus to lots of interesting wineries, but also far enough away from that valley so as to have good road connections (the Douro Valley is all winding secondary or tertiary roads, and it takes forever to drive any given distance). Finally, super-close to the charming Mateus Palace.
Vila Real Loft 360 is a wonderful place to stay in Vila Real. The place is immaculately clean. Big and roomy and comfortable! It has a beautiful patio to sit outside, enjoy a glass of wine, relax and enjoy life. Some of the patio is in shade and some in sun so there are outside choices. The owner checked us in and was so friendly, giving us great sight seeing and eating suggestions. He also gave great advice on ways to tour the Douro Valley. I would highly recommend this place and will myself return in the future.
This quirky hotel is situated in the most perfect location. It’s right in the centre, a very short walk from the bus stop. It’s also next to a Pingo Doce and not more than a twenty minute walk from any of the main sites. The staff were incredibly friendly and made me feel at home and my room was cleaned everyday without fail (I was there for 3 weeks). The beds were also reasonably comfortable. Moreover the price was great value for money.
A lovely old hotel on big grounds and lots of parking. It has a variety of sitting rooms and a good restaurant for dinner and breakfast. It has been one of the few places that has offered a good vegetarian meal. Our room was large with an extra porch where we could sit with windows that opened. The hotel was very close to the palace in Mateus which we visited.
This is like living in a dollhouse, in the sense of a charming, cute, lovely, well cared place. I've stayed in similar places in Ireland and France but this one beats all of them by far, I heartily recommend this place to anyone who wishes for a bit of peace and quiet (yet near a major city) in the beautiful countryside of northern Portugal.
The staff were extremely kind and helpful and the property was absolutely gorgeous. Arriving at the property felt like coming home. We were surrounded by greenery and life. It was so calm and beautiful. The lodging itself was so nice, spacious, and historic. If I came back to Portugal, I would 100% stay here but for a month instead!!!
Was more the vibe of an hotel
Beds were amazing; good matrassen, great blanket and with a curtain
We had our own bathroom
There was air-conditioning
Well equipped kitchen
Location is in the middle of the centre
I saw the girl who cleaned in the morning even cleaning all the cutlery that wasn't used
Quinta do Paço Hotel is an amazing place for a relaxing weekend. The staff is extremely friendly and always interested in helping, the rooms are very comfortable and clean, and the restaurant seems great (did not have the opportunity to try it).
I definitely want to go back!
Hotel was clean and staff seemed very friendly. The bed was very comfortable and location was good BUT to get into town the walk is all uphill. Easy come back though! There is also a car park for anyone brining their car. TV has LOTS of channels!
the rooms were amazing, and the pool was perfect🥺🥹❤️
we booked this place by minutes bc before this place we were supposed to stay at some creepy hotel , we got away from the creepy hotel and got here, this is such a perfect place to stay🥰❤️
Room is roomy, cosy and amazing. Hotel is at the very centre so not parking available. Hotel has good price because it is a kind of hostel but if you choose private room that is SUPREME very spacious and we did not hear any noise.
It was unique staying in a mansion that had the several additions making it more into a hotel. It is in an the top of the town but still walkable to the city center, we did a causal walk and it took maybe 20th minutes to get to.
The staff was really kind and respectful but the room was not so good. It was too small there were some shortages which are necessary for any hotel. For example there was no hand-washing liquid, no sandals etc.
A lovely hotel in a great location.
Fabulous swimming pool & spectacular views across the local town & countryside.
Typical Spanish hotel breakfast but very nice, only stayed one night.
Thr staff are helpful and caring. I love the rural surroundings, the river, gardens, local produce and stone buildings which is so much more than a hotel room. It is a very special place.
The apartment and room is beautiful and as in the pictures. Location is perfect. Just in the main square of Vila Real, less than 2 minutes walk from restaurants, bars and cafes.
The host is friendly, helpful and informative! The unit is comfortable has everything needed with big windows of great view of vila real. Definitely will come back again.
