The rrom wasd spatious and very clean. It lacked a bit on the side of places to store clothes (but it seems that's a thing with a lot of Portuguese hotels. Very close to the Coimbra Train Station (just in front). We were a bit concerned about noise coming from the nearby street, restaurant and bars, but in reality it was no issue at all. Breakfast is good and convenient with hot and cold options. I would return the this hotel.

Portugal’s medieval capital, and a pioneer of fado music alongside its modern counterpart Lisbon, Coimbra is a vibrant university city with a good helping of historic sights.
The university is the country’s oldest and its attractive buildings cover a small hill overlooking the Mondego River. The institution has an excellent science museum, the ornate Joanina Library, and one of the world’s oldest botanical gardens which contributes to the lush landscape.
The midweek nightlife in the city’s bars and restaurants is popular with students, while shopping options range from the stores of the CoimbraShopping complex to smaller boutiques on cobbled streets in the historic Baixa district.
The medieval centre houses the museum of Coimbran sculptor Machado de Castro and the Old Cathedral, begun under the reign of the first Portuguese King, Afonso Henriques. He is buried in Santa Cruz Monastery, while the tomb of a later queen – Elizabeth of Aragon – is in the Monastery of Santa Clara-a-Nova. She founded this hilltop convent to replace flood-prone Santa Clara-a-Velha below. Between them is Portugal dos Pequenitos where Portugal’s main monuments are reproduced in miniature.
Nearby is Quinta das Lágrimas, a 19th-century mansion that is now a luxury hotel on Booking.com. Also available are cheap hostels and guest houses near the 2 main train stations.

We were lucky enough to arrive during the last week of term for the university students, which made the town lively and interesting. The tour of the university , particularly the library, was fascinating. It was also lovely to walk through the old town, eat pastries, listen to music and absorb the atmosphere. Sitting in the Botanic gardens with a book in the afternoon sunshine was an opportunity to relax in otherwise busy days.

Coimbra is a delightful town to visit.
Coimbra is a delightful town to visit. The town is architecturally pleasing, with clean, safe, streets, and a refreshing lack of graffiti.
There is a good choice of hotels and restaurants, and those that we patronized were of good quality, with helpful staff, all of whom, in our experience spoke good English. Recommended

Our accommodation had the perfect location; we walked everywhere. The nearby restaurants were serving great food. Our street had 2 nice restaurants that were frequented by locals, and the prices were very reasonable compared to the more touristy places.

Coimbra is a great city to visit and use as base to explore other locations in central Portugal. Make sure you wear comfy shoes, the cobbles streets and walking is often up steep hills. The library is worth viewing at the university, but make sure you book in advance or get there early, as they have limited tickets and time slots. The parks are beautiful along the river and worth taking the time to visit. If adventuring out, highly recommend Obidos and the Buddha Eden garden, as well as Aveiro and Costa Nova.

Coimbra has a lot to offer travelers.
Coimbra has a lot to offer travelers. Centro (old part of town) is very lovely and has a lot to see. Many small interesting roads and pathways to walk around and see beautiful buildings, historical churchs, shops, cafes...Restaurants are reasonably priced and there is a variety of different cuisines to accommodate everyone. We stayed one night, but could have easily stayed another night.

Coimbra is a great city with very interesting historical sites and churches. Interesting shops and restaurants.
the Igreja santo Christo is especially good to visit situated in a lovely square. The adjoining old cafe has a wonderful atmosphere with a performance of FADO (traditional Portuguese music ) every weekday from 6pm
The hotel staff went over and beyond to ensure our stay was exceptional. They even ran out of the hotel to the train station to let us know that we were headed in the wrong direction to get to the Roman ruins. Breakfast was tailored to our preferences. We’re remodeling our home and got several ideas from the design and functionality of the bathrooms. Excellent restaurants surrounding hotel and the best meal of our 2-week stay in Portugal, suggested by hotel staff.
We would stay here every day, if we could.
Lovely BnB located really close to the old university in the center of Coimbra.
Ideal location to easily reach by foot all the most famous tourist attractions of the city.
At the check-in, the owner was very kind and helpful, recommending us places to visit and restaurants for dinner.
The breakfast was excellent. A nice buffet was provided and it was possible also to ask for bacon to be cooked on the spot.
I would recommend this cozy BnB to anyone who is stopping in Coimbra while on vacation in Portugal.
The amenities were incredible and the staff was super helpful. I would absolutely recommend this place for a short stay in Coimbra. The location is prime and the overall vibe of the hotel is very clean, neat and contemporary. I wouldn’t call it cheap but I wouldn’t call it expensive either. If it’s within your budget you should definitely try it. Although we stayed only for one night I can absolutely see myself staying for a few more nights next time we come to Coimbra to visit.
Everything and everyone. This little guest house is a real gem. It is located in Coimbra, city of Portugal not yet fully discovered by tourists. To me it is the real Portugal, with honest hospitality. The guesthouse is well decorated, visibly the owners put their heart in it.
We also enjoyed little shop with fruit and the most needed stuff and next to it a bakery just outside the guesthouse. If we are again in Coimbra, we will for sure stay again in Vila Julieta.
This hotel is beyond lovely. The room was beautifully decorated with bedding second to none. The literary them was fun and tasteful. The view was dreamy. Rooftop lounge serves drinks and tea with great service. The staff are exceedingly helpful and attentive to every need. I am here for one night and really do not want to leave. This lovely shiny hotel made this brief stay in Coimbra much more special!
The property is well situated between the University and the old town. The building is from the 1800’s- so cool. Not sure if the stone walls are from the original building - awesome nevertheless. We thought it was great value. They brought us breakfast to the room- good variety of buns, scrambled eggs, yogurts and fruit. Great views of the city of Coimbra.
Will definitely recommend this hotel.
Great location just across the river from the old city of Coimbra. Several good restaurants & cafes in the same block as the hotel. Easy parking at a public lot (3E/day) a couple of minutes ways. We had a 4th floor room next to kitchen and small patio which was nice for making breakfast. Friendly staff, clean room. Windows opened to get a nice breeze in the room.
The staff were amazing. They were all extremely friendly in general and really helpful with issues that cropped up during my trip. For instance, I drove from my country to Portugal and I was a bit confused about toll payment as the system is quite different to the one where I live. The guys at reception were extremely patient and helped me sort everything out.
You wouldn't know it from the outside, but this is our best stay in Portugal yet. Free parking underneath the apartment, Aircon, great facilities, clean and well organised. The location is actually fantastic, we were able to walk everywhere in the town from here. A big supermarket open 7 days is just 4 minutes away. Definitely recommend staying here.
I have previously written a glowing review of Hotel Oslo. This is a great, efficient, professionally staffed small hotel with a very good breakfast, a very nice bar area (open til 1AM, offering late night snacks) with delightful views, excellent housekeeping and truly nice people who are kind and gracious. We had a lovely stay in a beautiful city.
Everything was perfect, the lady at the reception desk was extremly helpful and nice, she also gave us some very useful advise and helped us to find parking. Breakfast was very nice, room was perfectly clean.
If we come to Coimbra again - this would be our choice. Best accomodation throughout our journey in Portugal !
The charm and history of the building, the restaurant (one of the best in the region), the pool, and last but not least the staff. While hospitality is very good in Portugal, the team of Quinta das Lagrimas was simply the best on my trip. SO kind, helpful and professional. Bravo!
Bed was comfy but the thin blanket kept me cold at night. I asked for an extra blanket and staff obliged so my other nights were snug and toasty. Best shower I’ve had in Portugal! Very nice staff. Location is close to train station and about 20 minute walk to bus station.
The hotel stays at an excellent location, 5 minutes away from the heart of the city. The staff was really nice and we were very well welcomed. The room was great and big, clean and really comfy. For sure will be my first choice once I return to Coimbra
Everything was outstanding. The location is on the edge of the university campus and near to good cafes and the center. Breakfast was the best I had in Portugal - homemade yogurts and breads, fresh fruit and fresh-squeezed orange juice.
Convenient location near the train station. 24 hour and friendly reception at Hotel Oslo which is just across the street. Hotel Oslo has a bar which has amazing views of the university so be sure to check it out.
Incredibly charming and comfortable apartment, perfectly located. No manned reception on site, but the staff of hotel Oslo, who manage the apartment, are kind, knowledgeable and perfectly helpful!
Hotel Vitória was a great location, the facility was very good and and the welcome was warm. We were given perfect assistance to visit the university and were in the best location of Coimbra.
The staff is extraordinary! The two young men who checked us
In went out of their way to explain what to see in Coimbra. The Oslo is one of our absolute favorites.
