Very helpful staff. Hotel is like a Tardis. Lots of rooms but it is like stepping back in time. Website shows modernised rooms but we were staying in an older room. Staff Ensured we didnt get our car towed away due to the market the next day. Centrally located, once parked up you can walk everywhere. We were so tired after a long drive that I slept well. We didnt stay for breakfast. Market is huge and outside the hotel. We bought croissants and coffee from there and then continued our travels across France.

Chinon is easily walkable from the river up to the castle/fortress ruins on small streets that are still used in the daily lives of its’ residents. Although old, it is lively and offers many restaurants and shops for any needs you may have. Rather a charming, old city.

The Royal Palace was excellent, with a lot of history.
The Royal Palace was excellent, with a lot of history. The old town was very picturesque with some excellent restaurants. A lot of climbing although there is a lift from the lower town to the fortress. A good range of shops, cafes and bars.

Chinon has the feel of a village.
Chinon has the feel of a village. It is not that small, but there is a sense of security and ample access to food, wine, and services all reached on foot. There is no need to use a car in town. The weekly market is vey large and we easily reached it on foot even though is was near the opposite end of the town from our apartment. The climb (many steps) to the fortress is well worth the effort but there is also a free elevator provided by the town. If you want to comprehend how nice it is, visit busy Saumur which is full of traffic, stop lights, priorité a droit, steep roads, and noise.

Chinon is a charming town. Good size, not too small and full of exceptional restaurants. Close to many wineries and Chateaus.b we ate at Les Annes 30 and Table de La Jeanne. Both of them were really good.

Architecture (limestone) unchanged for centuries, elsewhere troglodyte constructions. Historic castle. Numerous restaurants (especially Hotel de la Paix). Easy access to other Chateaux de la Loire, great atmosphere.
The hotel is in an old building with lots of charm that has been impeccably renovated and exquisitely decorated. The rooms look out onto a private garden which adds to the charm. The owner was very nice and accomodating and helped us by recommending local restaurants. The breakfast is delicious - excellent coffee, juice, and fruit and a mix of items from the local boulangerie along with some homemade sweets. The location was perfect - walking distance to everything. All this at a very reasonable price. We will absolutely stay here again.
Maurice is an exceptional host, and the most charming person to boot! He arranged dinner reservations for us (including at a booked out place). The room was lovely, with lots of little details normally only to be found in 4-star hotels, such as bath robes and slippers. In fact, everything was just so, with many thoughtful details making our stay easier, from the well-priced water bottles to the large selection of teas available, to the stunning breakfast (Maurice makes the best crepes and cakes!). The only place to stay in Chinon!
Comfortable room. Enjoyable and satisfying breakfast (very pleasant garden terrace for taking breakfast) and well located for visiting Chinon (a short walk across the bridge over the Vienne river) and the surrounding areas.
Rudy and Mathieu were excellent hosts, very friendly and welcoming. They were accommodating for the little extras or changes we requested. We couldn't have asked for more. Will happily return to Hôtel Rive Sud for another stay.
We arrived slightly later than planned and the receptionist was really accommodating, arranged dinner for us and our children and went beyond what was expected. The swimming pool was lovely and well kept. The town of Chinon was also only a very short walk away and the hotel overall excellent. Thank you to the staff for making us so welcome.
Great location literally in the middle of the old town in beautiful Chinon, under the fortress. Parking directly outside (payable between 9-12 and 14-19h, hood rates). Really well laid out apartment with oven, hob, microwave and toaster. Free laundry in the cellar of the building.
The old tower in which you felt like a bit like a king, especially when your were looking out of the very large windows from the spacious bedrooms. The kids could play on the fenced of yard while the deer would sometimes make a short visit from the elevated chateau garden.
Great place for a stop-over in Chinon. Studio Room with a big balcony and a big bathroom, no traffic noice from the road. Very central location for a walk to the town center. The Hotel owner was very friendly. Thank you for the one night stay. 🙏😘
Extremely nice host welcomed us to a very beautiful property. Very complete equipment, comfortable bedding, well equipped kitchen, nice pool, onsite parking...The house is located in a quiet village just outside Chinon.
The welcome was extremely warm and staff was helpful. I was so impressed with how well-kept and cared-for the hotel was. Breakfast was unusually good as well. Overall, I felt it was a tremendous value for money.
Maurice is the most amazing host in France. Exceptional perfection in everything imaginable. Words cannot express the cleanliness, amenities and his attention to detail. The place should be a National Treasure.
Beautiful property, Chinon was minutes away by car. Host had excellent recommendations, room was quiet and comfortable. Host was always available for any questions or assistance.
The apartment is in a fantastic location, it was charming, clean and thoughtfully decorated. We loved it and we would definitely stay there again if we were in Chinon!
Amazing breakfast with all local produce. Florent was also a brilliant host with lots of great recommendations for châteaux, vineyards and restaurants.
I had a suite and it was fabulous! So nice to have a sitting area and a balcony! Also, the location of the hotel is great, just a short walk into town!
