Fascinating place, great place to wander around and take in all the tiny streets. We didn't have time to go into any museums or cathedral but still enjoyed our visit in the evening and the following day. We arrived on Easter Sunday and expected to find most eating places closed (which they were) - so would plan carefully if arriving on a Sunday evening

We loved this town - it was historic but had a modern part too. Easy to wander around. We randomly booked it as a stop over to recover from a long flight from Auckland to Paris on our way south. We were wonderfully surprised. Included an easy day trip to Chambord.

Beautiful city so much to see just roaming the streets you get the feel of times gone past.
The roads are steep in places and there a lots of flights of steps.
but it is so lovely you loose time so you do not realise how far you are going.
The cathedral is amazing some of the best windows I have ever seen.
There are quite a few places to sit and eat and prices were pretty reasonable.
We traveled into the city by bus which was cheap and frequent.
but after a full morning we thought we may get a taxi back
Don't try and get a taxi at lunch time they are non existent.
We waited 40 mins at the station along with 4 other couples all having phoned for a cab.

Bourges exceded our expectations for a short stay.
Bourges exceded our expectations for a short stay. Our trip coincided with annual music festival which meant the town was busy and vibrant. Most venues were open even though it was early in the season. Old town is accessible on foot. Impressive cathedral. Lots of food options. Had pizza at La Scala, good food, reasonably priced. We learnt that Bourges was once the capital of France. Well worth a visit.

Perfect for stopover halfway down France. Restaurants in vicinity were great, unless you are a vegetarian, (but it's France). Great choices for breakfast, great coffee, cereals, fresh bread and croissants, yoghurt, crepes, fresh fruits, boil your own eggs - what fun!

The medieval area is interesting but not easy to find,,, get a map and directions from the Office de Tourisme, very helpful.
Take the tourist road train from outside the Tourist Office /cathedral; last trip 5pm
The proprietor (Anthony?) was extremely welcoming and gracious. Although he had previously agreed to store our luggage when we arrived in the morning by train, he actually went out of his way to have our room prepared early so that we could get a head start on our visit of Bourges (including suggestions for places to visit that we had not previously contemplated). He also very graciously agreed to give us a ride to the train station upon our departure.
This is such a superb place for a stop off when driving through France. Excellent location - the food in the evening and the breakfast exceeded the much more expensive hotel we were previously staying in and the pool (open until 9pm) was very welcome after a long drive. Very clean, lovely staff and well organised - we would definitely stay again.
Large house with many bedrooms

Large backyard with swimming pool
Convenient for overnight stay during travel from NL to south of France

Bourges is a very nice city to visit
Bourges is a lovely walkable city. The history and cathedral are interesting. We rented a car and drove out Sancerre to visit Chambord Castle where we had a picnic lunch, bought Chavignol goat cheese at Dubois Boulay and visited Crochet winery and bought 2 bottles.
The location worked well as part of the family were off to the airshow and I was off to see the stunning old buildings in Bourges.
The house was equipped with everything we needed. The house was modern and clean.
Parking was so easy.
simple lodging at a very affordable price makes the B&B Hotel a good choice for anyone wanting a quick overnight stop en route to or from the south of France. The furnishings are functional but the bed, shower, and WiFi are all good.
The location was perfect.
The apartment cozy and well designed.
The host flexible regarding the check-in time and didn’t requested us to clean the apartment before leaving. Quite unusual during our trip in France.
Well done!!! 👌
We didn't have breakfast. Only drawback of hotel was the parking which was a tricky dash over a busy road (with lots bags) and as we were tired it wasn't ideal BUT we would still go back there as we now know about the parking.
The owner was exceptionally nice and the room (actually an apartment) was clean. It was a short walk to the old part of town. The breakfast was put outside our room and the croissants were some of the best we had in France.
Friendly staff, good location. This was a one night stop off on our way down to South France and the local town was stunning. We would stay here again and spend more time in the town. Super King size bed was a nice surprise.
Comfortable hotel well located for visiting Bourges within walking distance of the town centre. Good parking with EV chargers available. Excellent restaurant on site.
