Important Port of Saintly Significance
The Apulian capital Bari has been known for its port since Roman times. Nowadays there are 2 harbours: cruise ships and ferries to Greece and Croatia depart from the new port, while the old port shelters fishing vessels.
Between them is a seafront road bordering the real attraction – the old town. Narrow, cobbled streets lead under arches to hidden piazzas with pavement cafes. Many are on adjoining Piazza Mercantile and Piazza del Ferrarese, where the old Roman road is exposed.
The imposing 12th-century Norman-Swabian Castle guards the west of the historic centre, and the simple Cathedral of San Sabino is from the same period. Equally understated is the Basilica of St Nicholas, housing relics of the saint. Pope John Paul II once prayed there, which may have given rise to Bari Airport’s name: Karol Wojtyła Airport.
Corso Vittorio Emanuele II is the meeting point of the old town and the Murat district, built under orders of Napoleon’s brother-in-law. Facing each other across this street are the colourful façades of the municipal office and Piccinni Theatre, though most prestigious is the Petruzzelli Theatre opera house.
Booking.com’s Bari accommodation includes luxury hotels by the Fiera del Levante, cheap city centre apartments, and B&Bs near the train station. For families, the slides and swimming pools of Bari Acquapark make a great day out.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in Bari. There were many interesting things to see in the city itself. It was well connected to many other interesting places by public transport. We particularly liked the old Bari and the walk along the waterfront. There were lots of good eateries within easy walking distance. coming to Bari on Friday night was probably not a very good...
coming to Bari on Friday night was probably not a very good idea, but we found accommodation easily. The flat owner also took care of parking the car for us. The city has its charm even on a Friday night if you sit outside in a pizza restaurant and typical local songs are played and the cook comes out with pizza dough in his hands and sings along with the performer. Awesome.

The city is an excellent starting point for exploring Puglia. You can visit Lecce, Polignano a mare, Matera and other cities by train. The town has a beautiful, long promenade along the sea. Bari is a beautiful port city.
Bari is a beautiful port city. Well connected with other smaller towns and bigger centers, it's very vibrant place with a great cultural patrimony, beautiful and quite long lungomare (sea side promenade), excellent and affordable food. The people are kind and friendly. Also a great place for shopping. If you are looking a great place to explore history, culture and food, that's a place to go.

During the stay, the staff was immensely helpful, especially the receptionist, Paolo, who was amazingly helpful and always offered some advice, e.g., how to spend your time in Bari, or where go to eat, etc. Paolo seemed to have everything under his control, which made my stay uncommonly comfortable. If any problem occurs, he will solve it quickly and without hesitation.

It is in Via Sparano one of the best roads in Bari and just in the middle between the Central Station and the Old town. Communication with the host was excellent too. Host was very responsive and accommodating. I highly recommend this apartment and will be returning for sure!

Staff was very helpful and polite. Breakfast was very good too - I will miss the amazing sea view from the restaurant every morning. :) Finally, the rooms are equipped with everything you might need for your stay. If we travel to Bari again, we will definitely stay here again.
