Hotel Ossidiana Stromboli Center, hotel in Stromboli

Just 150 metres from the port, the Ossidiana is located right next to a volcanic-sand beach in the fishermen’s neighbourhood of Scari.

The room was spacious, and it showed a little bit Eastern (Indian) style, which was great, and a balkon faced to the sea, so I could hear the voice of the waves, when I was sleeping.

I could and should’ve stayed another day as this would have allowed me the boar tour to La Sciara del Fuoco to see the eruptions. The volcano is the highlight of this island of course and it really gives it a special energy. The port and the “lungomare” - coastline - could do with a bit of work; they could be nicer and especially the port is not optimal for the volatile weather conditions, which makes it really difficult for smaller boats to dock and get people on and off the boat. I walked the island and it can be done - just have proper walking shoes and prepare for some elevation, but again, I’m not very fit and could do it. My visit was actually for a shamanic journey, savouring the energy of the island and I would do it again, just hopefully with less rowdy yachters around! I do hope to visit again and see Ginostra and the eruptions from closer. Who knows, maybe even a lighter hike…

Visiting Stromboli was the highlight of our trip to Sicily.

Visiting Stromboli was the highlight of our trip to Sicily. Watching the volcano erupt at night is unique experience. I know many people who have visitet Sicily but no one has come to Stromboli. Too bad for them. Climb Sciara dei fuoco to see the eruptions. Of coure you have to be used to walking, but it"s not too bad. I recommend visiting in low season, spring and autumn.

Great place. I'd love to come back and stay 2-3 nights. One night was just a sample :) But if you prefer seeing more islands in one go, you can definitely squeeze a lot of activities into 24 hours.

There are not many places that you can literally live under the volcano hearing it's grunt and groans ,viewing the smoke emitted and the occasional flare of lava from the hotel balcony. However being so off season no tours or restaurants were open, only grocery stores, and the guided hikes or night boats were yet to come out.Self hiking up was limited by very concise caution limits due to previous activity from the volcano and the seismic situation .This was February. However with few tourists you have a distinct feeling of you against nature and the locals have time and inclination to consort with you and seem to enjoy it.Especially since we were stranded 3 extra days by inclement weather which downed the ferries so a caution in this respect.

Stromboli is an island of contrast, some people love it...

Stromboli is an island of contrast, some people love it others not so much. For us it is perfect, the locals are friendly and have gotten to know us over our many visits to the island, the Volcano is fascinating to climb and watch as it explodes. Eating dinner either in town or at the Observatorio which looks up to the active craters. During the day relax on the beaches or take a boat trip which is available from several vendors, Recommend Chez Puelo based near Ficogrande beach. Boat rentals also available. Taxis are about but enjoy the walk into town and round the island, explore the side streets, for a small island there is so much to do. Stromboli is a seasonal island with access limited during the winter period where lots of the tourist areas close, the season runs March-October with the busiest periods coming July-Mid September. Most of there tourists come on day trips from the larger Aeolian islands so aren't there late into the night. Bar Ingrid is great for a local Grenita and La Liberia bar has some mixed events with some great social nightlife at the weekend and a more relaxed experience during weekdays. This is a 2nd home for us and we will always recommend a visit but please treat the locals with the respect that they and the island deserve

Stromboli island is a unique earthy island with small shops and lots of restaurants. We only stayed 1 night. Took a boat tour around the island and took guided hike to view Stromboli eruptions 2 hours before sunset. Hike wasn’t too difficult through stunning scenery and a fair amount of shade. Around 2 hours including stops and guide info. Stopped at viewing platform for 1.5 hours. Sunset stunning. Eruptions so cool. Recommend booking Observatory Pizza Restaurant (great at atmosphere) on the way down and leaving the group. It’s around 45 minute walk down from restaurant - pitch dark (torches essential) but trails not too bad. Could have definitely hung out there a little longer, but we had an itinerary planned and moved on

This is a very good hotel. The location is excellent, just a few steps from the beach, and hydrofoil terminal, with a number of shops and restaurants in proximity. The hotel staff and service were very friendly and helpful. The rooms were very clean, and good size, though somewhat old-fashioned. The bathroom was clean, though a bit small. We also had a big terrasse, where we could enjoy some drinks with our friends in the evening. Breakfast was superb - I would rate it 11 out of 10! Overall, great experience on the magic Stromboli!

The interior of our three story apartment was very luxurious. All the furniture of highest quality. We enjoyed the view from our three different terraces. I never stayed in such a magnificent apartment. Also The hotel chef brings you the best dishes with fresh fishes from stromboli. And continental breakfast was delicious. Btw from the pool you can choose to watch the smoking volcano or the seaside as you like, but you can do that from your terrace too. Also from your bedroom. More than exceptional.

La Lampara was easy to find on beautiful Stromboli and the host was very nice and helpful. Our room was clean (and ordered every day) even if on the small side. The bathroom was cozy and equipped with all we needed (soaps, shampoo etc). Honestly, we didn't spend much time in the room, as we were always exploring the island, but we got good service and a great night's sleep there! Breakfast was basic, but the service and generally the people there were very friendly.

A lovely hotel close to the beach with great staff and if you don’t like swimming in the sea there is a lovey swimming pool. Our room was spacious with a small terrace and we had a spectacular views of Strombolicchio, a small volcanic stack off the coast of Stromboli. Cars are not allowed on the island and the hotel transport to and from the port is an electric modified golf buggy - great fun.

We spent a beautiful time on Stromboli. The food was delicious, the cats were cute, and the room was comfortable. The view from the terrace where breakfast was served was breathtaking - on one side the sea, on the other the volcano. The room was clean and tidy, towels and bedding were changed frequently. The staff was very friendly and helpful. I hope we get the chance to visit again soon. 😊

Annamaria is an amazing host with a wonderful place on Stromboli. Location hidden from crowds, in a calm area and views on the volcano. The hammock is the perfect place to chill while trying to catch some eruptions in the night. Breakfast is rich, local and biological. If not for else, come at least for the breakfast.

Very nice little hotel. Room‘s are very small but for 1-2 nights it’s perfectly fine. The garden is awesome and it‘s great to have breakfast there. For the price one of the best options you get in Stromboli! Approx. 50 minutes walk until you reach L‘Observatorio.
