Such a unique hotel. There are a number of sitting rooms on the main level and each is furnished with antiques and many books. Rooms also include vintage furniture finds. The bathroom is on the small size but we managed just fine.

We arrived at an exceptionally poor weather (snow storm in June!) knowing that we may freeze in the cabin, the owner had kindly offered to let us stay in the apartment instead. (A free upgrade!) it was genuinely a great surprise and a lovely highlight amidst the bad weather

Cozy room in a lovely town. There was a sink, a cabinet and a bedside table with a drawer (plenty of storage). Karolina, the onsite manager was warm, friendly and super helpful. The lounge was comfortable with coffee and tea making facilities, a microwave, many tables and chairs and a refrigerator for guests to store their perishables. Parking was free by the road next to the guesthouse.

Best hot pot so far. Well equipped kitchen, nice hosts. Outstanding scenery. We had part of the guesthouse for ourselves. There was a friendly dog on site.

We went to Siglufjordur because we saw it in the Netflix series Trapped. We were there for just one night. In retrospect I wished that we had stayed longer to see all of the sites. We did see the Herring Era musuem, but they also have a music museum which we did not have time for. The scenery is gorgeous.

Siglufjörður is simply wonderful.
Siglufjörður is simply wonderful. One of the my favorite place in Iceland. I will probably stay at Siglu hotel next time. I have stayed there and it is wonderful. They have an excellent breakfast buffet. There is so much to see but I just love the fjord and the mountains. Higly recomment it.

Siglufjörður is a small fishing town in a narrow fjord.
Siglufjörður is a small fishing town in a narrow fjord. It is very picturesque and relaxing to walk around town and along the harbor. It is worth spending a day there if you like to enjoy scenic views. We were fortunate to be there when the colors were very visible. Unfortunately, many of the stores and restaurants were closed for the season which was no issue for us. We ate at the TORGIÐ restaurant for dinner and Aðalbakarí (bakery) for breakfast. Both places were very good and reasonable in price by Icelandic standards. We were sad we missed the Herring Museum, but viewed the signs outside the building which gave us a good overview of the history of the herring business.

Lovely little fishing town in the North of Iceland.
Lovely little fishing town in the North of Iceland. Active fishing harbour, great spot for a late afternoon/early evening drink. Beautiful nature/mountains around. Nice 9 holes golf course. Stay over at the Siglo hotel: great accommodation in large rooms!

getting there takes quite a bit of travel - but it prevents most tour buses from making the trio making it more peaceful and romantic.
we were in july - which allowed lots of nature walks.
i understand people also like to do some midnight sun golfing - but i can't testify to that, as i'm not a golfer :)
don't skip dinner at the siglo hotel - even though it is on the pricey side
