Beautiful old town with picturesque landscape and wonderful parks.
A lot of culture - music, theatre etc. The Cultural Academy of Tartu University has brought new vibe with it's students into the old town.

Compact city with a very laid back vibe which is easy to explore on foot. Everyone was helpful even though I don't speak Estonian, and overall it feels like a welcoming place. It's not a 'bright lights' kind of city, but a great place to relax and wander at a relaxed pace. There are lots of cafes, restaurants and bars in town, though I only had time to check out Fellinn for lunch and Romaan bar for a drink. Both were excellent - the bread at Fellinn is particularly delicious, and the barman at Romaan recommended me a perfect craft beer for my tastes. Also loved my walk around the castle ruins and a visit to the Kondas Centre to see their current exhibition.

Best time to visit is definitely the summer and autumn since Viljandi has a lot of parks, gardens and other green areas - walk, run, cycle or just sit on a bench and do some dolce far niente. There's always a good exhibit or two (or three) in Kondas Art Centre and every time I visit there's a new café or lounge just opened and eager to surprise.
P.S! Bring your best walking shoes since public transport within the city runs once in a blue moon.

Located equal distance from the Capital Tallinn as the University town Tartu and the Beach/Spa resort town of Pärnu, and approximately halfway between them, Viljandi is a hidden pearl! It has stayed relatively safe from utilitarian architecture, and managed to keep a lot of its Independence Era charm. Little streets and alleys, cafes and restaurants, magnificent Castle ruins, all are populated by friendly local people. Viljandi is not one of those towns that come alive only during Festivals (of which they hold many), but a living, growing place that has managed to preserve its charm and keep it present.
Whatever you may dream of, you may find that hidden in Viljandi

It's certainly one of my favorite places in Estonia with quite a lot of culture and history and the story behind it. This city seems to be first founded and occupied by the German elites and so the traces of high-class families, architecture, and culture could be seen throughout the city. I really enjoyed just walking and taking photos of the buildings.
The hotel has an interesting interior design. The renovation is good, although a bit poor quality. The rooms are clean.
The breakfast was very good and we were delighted with the large bed with dimensions of 2x2 m, four pillows of different sizes and warm blankets. There were shampoos in the bathroom, but no slippers.
Also, there was a drinking water cooler in the hall.
The style and design of the apartment and the way how the owners guided us (in written way) through Viljandi and their own story was so inspiring, even books written by Myrakas were provided and we felt like visiting very nice people. We liked also the sustainable mindset of apartment owners, green products and food/water bowls for our dog, traveling with us.
The place was really nice and cozy. We were surprised at how much prettier it looked in real life! Even the outside looked lovely as well. The location itself was also really good, there were many places to eat at within walking distance, even a Michelin rated restaurant. And the hosts were very hospitable and helpful! We really enjoyed our stay!
Spacious and clean, beautiful decoration. Good wifi, TV, AC, central location. 3 minutes walk to supermarket, restaurants 10 minute walk. Quiet area. Very big bathroom, well equipped kitchen. Coffe machine to make coffee. The appartment could accomodate 5 persons. Good value, would stay again. Apoartment with character.
I liked the building, apartment and location, it quiet and cosy place to be and have rest. Everything needed was already existing in the apartment, next time I will not take so much things from home. I appreciate a lot that host was very kind and has arranged a separate baby-bed for our small child.
The rooms were comfortable and cosy, everything was covered. Location is good - me and my friend covered so many things by feet, just because the hotel was in the centre. Also, restaurant provided a good breakfast even considering, that in hotel that day were 8 people only 😅
It is located in the center, shops, malls, cafes were within walking distance.
The apartment was clean and everything I needed was there.
As soon as I arrived I was guided to the apartment by kind voice in a phone, there were no delays.
I enjoyed my stay fully.
- it’s my second time here!:)
- location in the old town
- very kind, friendly staff (thank you for letting me store my luggage)
- very clean
- there is a yoga studio at the first floor, where I joined spontaneously
- every room is private!
- shared kitchen
Very charming place and welcoming host! The location is just perfect - in 2 min you can reach the beach of Viljandi lake and on the same distance the old town. Apartment has all necessary things for the pleasant stay. Thank you one more time, dear Karin!
The newly renovated building in the heart of Viljandi is a sightseing itself, really amazing place to stay. With all the comfort you would need from a amazing stay. Also something to point out was a very tasty vegan friendly menu, a big plus!
Lovely apartment in good central location. Nice furniture and everything was in good condition. Next time in Viljandi I'll probably pick the same location to stay. We did not lack anything. Everything we needed was there.
Everything was exceptional, room was cozy, comfy beds, breakfast quite rich for the small place like this. If you're coming for water activity - Viljandi järv is 200 meters away
Well located traditional hotel, on the shores of the lake but also very close to the Viljandi center.
Everything is perfectly cleaned and maintained.
Very kind welcome.
