You need to book well in advance if you want to watch the Black Cats at the stadium of light! There is a nice railway connection to nearby Seaham if you want to visit. You can walk along the Wear through a sculpture park and the city centre is excellent for cheap food and drink.

Sunderland is a lovely city with lots of things to see and do. The coast here is beautiful with interesting beaches and walks. The people we spoke to were welcoming and friendly everywhere we went. Good choice of hot and cold items for breakfast. Lovely, clean and comfortable room. Attentive, polite and friendly staff. Not too far to the Metro.
