Armada Apartment, hotel in Redcar

Offering a shared lounge and sea view, Armada Apartment is situated in Redcar, 300 metres from Coatham Beach and 1.8 km from Redcar Racecourse.

It was a fleeting visit for a family funeral but the apartment was really clean and comfortable with parking and in a convenient location. The owners were great - very amenable and suggested several places for dinner. Had we been staying longer I'm sure we would have taken advantage of everything the apartment offered; the kitchenette had everything you required but we ate out due to convenience and the short stay. Was able to park the car in sight of the apartment and it was a short walk into town. Should we need to come back to Redcar, this would definitely be our first choice for accommodation. Thank you 🙂

Redcar is much like any other British sea side town, It is past its heyday but was clean, tidy with a good selection of shops and as we went for a night away from the day to day pressures of life it hit the spot. There is plenty to do depending on what you want, the Frosty penguins crazy golf is well worth a visit as well as the Stray cafe or the beach with a bucket and spade.

I'm biased because I grew up here but having been away for 38 years to return and see how amazing the town has become is brilliant. The regenerated esplanade is fantastic and the beach as always is clean and golden. The view of the coastline without the steel works whilst strange to me, was actually very nice because as iconic as the works were they were a blot on a much underrated piece of England. I married a southerner so unfortunately I no longer get to visit as often as I'd like but to be honest I could be tempted into divorce just to move back to Redcar.

Extensive sandy beaches, long promenades, delicious fish & chips shops, great for dogs (but NB, the central part of beach bans dogs in summer until 30th September) Archetypal Victorian English seaside resort-town - but sadly dilapidated in many parts, and needing major investment. Some of the populace along the coastal strip appear to be in a precarious state - and maybe the closure of the main industries in the region over recent decades are the cause of this. Half-a-mile inland is Corporation Road, running roughly parallel to the promenade, with nice houses, a lovely park ( with a dedicated Dog-Shop) - almost a different world to the seafront buildings. Teesmouth National Nature Reserve nearby, and the Industrial profile of massive structures, in the distance further up the coast. But wildlife is unconcerned about visual aesthetics of course. Lots of wading birds all along the beaches - sanderlings, turnstones -- etc

The Esplanade is pleasant to walk along, with plenty of seating. There are a few amusement arcades but as a seaside resort it is quite low-key. There are plenty of shops and restaurants -we particularly like the Lemon Tree Thai restaurant. & Daisy May tea rooms. Lots of fish & chip shops, they seem to be round every corner!

We were lucky with sunny weather so we could wander round the town. Great Brazilian cafe for breakfast and lovely Thai restaurant both on the main street. Interesting to look round the traditional old boats and their matching painted tractors Shame the vertical pier was closed at the top but nice historical photos on the walk upwards. Do stop at Pacitto's for the local delicacy of lemon top icecream. 😀

I would have like to have spent more time but sadly it was just a flying visit whilst I attended nearby Redcar races. I managed to have a couple of drinks at the hotel bar which was doing a toaring trade with meals flying out to customers. £4 a pint for Aspalls Cider was a refreshing change to inflated prices at other hotels. The room was gorgeous and cute with a lovely sea view(Room5). Well stocked with coffee/tea and biscuits-which got demolished I hasten to add! Most importantly the room was spotless. Staff lovely and pleasant.

The Hotel was exceptionally Clean and the Room i was in was a single on suite with towels Shampoo / Tea Coffee and the Bed was really comfortable. No Full English or Private parking but you get 2 hrs free from 0800hrs so no problem in bays outside hotel. Shower really hot and room nice and cosy warm from the December Cold Light above bed so no getting out was tucked up. Really close to Beach and Town. Excellent Value for a Nights stay and would and will stay again. 5/5 from me thank you.

Derek was a great help getting me in and sorted. The room was really big, with a comfortable bed and sofa and good-sized ensuite shower. The kitchen was a bonus (in part why I booked here) as I don't eat take-away food. And having a dining room to eat it - like home! :) The hotel (I was actually in the Lakeside, a couple of doors from the Beach Side) was right on the front, with great views of the sea. And it's only a short ride from the train station.

Beautiful accommodation. Loved the history and feel of the house . The owners have managed to renovate and refurbish the house providing a touch of modern luxury in the bedrooms whilst retaining many of the original features in downstairs areas. We stayed here while walking the Cleveland Way and would highly recommend it. Easy to get to Redcar from Saltburn using the regular train service. Great hosts and a lovely breakfast. .

It was a basic hotel where I shared a bathroom but it was clean. The room was clean. The lady running it is switched on and friendly. When I stayed there was mainly male guests all staying during the week. The hotel is near the town centre for food etc. I would recommend if you need to get work done and want a clean warm place to lie your head for the night.

This is THE place to stay if you're CYCLING, whether on the Sustrans NCN route 1 route 65 or route 656 or just exploring the area. It's cost effective, great for solo travellors, and Lloyd has always provided a safe secure space for the bike to be stored ( this is my second visit).
